@@charmcompassion9199 Yes and lost...Sanchez was the best!
Azumah was what the Black warriors in the USA used to fight like. Then, along came a fool like Ray Leonard, Whitaker and Mayweather and somehow managed to convince an entire people that boxing was based off winning points instead of dropping your opponent. The name of the game is not hit and not get hit, it's drop your opponent for 10 seconds, and if you don't THEN you go to the score cards.
Watching Salvador was an honor....we saw him win the title from Little Red and never missed his fights after that....

In 2002, he was named the 24th greatest fighter of the past 80 years by The Ring magazine.[4] In 2003, The Ring rated Sánchez number 88 on the list of 100 greatest punchers of all time.[5] Sánchez was voted as the #3 featherweight of the 20th century by the Associated Press. Sanchez was a favorite of Roy Jones as well. 🥊
Sanchez at 23 was already an elite fighter and a legend. He beat Puerto Rico's and Africa's greatest fighters. You don't see a weakness in him as you would most fighters. And like the great ones, he always found a way to win. He never forced a knockout either. His footwork is the best I've ever seen, he's still bouncing on his toes in ROUND 15!!! Anybody that's ever been in a ring they know that's INSANE. Sanchez had all the qualities Chavez, Marquez, Morales, Barrera, and Finito had, but better. Offensively, defensively, condition wise, and ring IQ he was like a little Sugar Ray Robinson. Chava's training methods were similar to Haglers and Marciano's. Rain or snow he ran 10-15 miles daily in the MOUNTAINS at high altitude. He trained under 100+ degree weather with the ring built outside, not inside a gym. He had a doctor training him how to lower his heartbeat and control his breathing. Swam daily. Master of the sweet science, but trained like a Spartan. Trained and sparred with Lupe Pintor too! Must of been a sight to see that one!
I'm mesmerized by his overall talent. What I love most about him was his composure during a fight .he was a complete Total boxer who would have rose to unbelievable rank in the world of boxing
Best comment ever. You must be a pro man.
@@luckyapple2655 Thanks man. No, I wish I was a pro. I didn't know how to fight at first I was a wimp, but once I trained I did have about 45 amateur fights in Mexico at featherweight/super featherweight and I won them all. My uncle Cesar Deciga whom I'm named after was a contender in the 70s and fought legendary puncher Carlos Zarate. My idol was Naseem Hamed at the time late 90s so my style was not very Mexican and it would piss off my trainers at the time. It resembled like Luis Alberto "Venado" Lopez, current featherweight champ. I also met Muhammad Ali and was blessed by him as was my little brother and he yelled out to some journalists that were there "These are the champions of the future!" God bless him.
He’s the first Mexican boxer who has hella foot work and good defense and offense. Most Mexican boxers are front foot heavy and static. Who reply on parrying blocking and counter punching but Salvador was very versatile with good ring generalship and ring IQ.
I 100% agree. I was a 14 year old amateur fighter and huge fan of the sport when he died. I was actually at a tournament in Arlington, TX when I heard the news. Like most fans it was initially shock and then deep sadness. We had lost a super talent at an age when he was probably just reaching his prime.
But like most I had no idea who he was when he fought Danny Lopez. For the first 5 rounds I just knew Danny was going to get him with his right and this brave young challenger would be gone. Little did I know just what a complete fighter this young challenger was. After round 6 I still was holding hope for Little Red but I saw his title slipping away. What s clinic Sanchez put on though..
I remembered how great he was. Passed away too soon . R.I.P Salvador Sanchez. God Bless You. 🙏🏼

YES!! I've told people about this kid for years, I'm a former golden gloves boxer myself and we all knew who Salvador Sanchez was, undeniably the finishest fighter I have ever seen, his corner men were amazing to watch, they put on a performance that was mesmerizing, the taking of his pulse they would count his breathing, by the time the bell rang again, he was as fresh as the first round, and let's not forget the fighter, he was a tactician beyond words. Man I miss that kid. RIP.
The fight between Sanchez and Nelson was truly the feat of warriors. A great match!
My favorite fighter of all time. He was so cool, calm and composed throughout every fight. I have only seen ONE photo where he had a different expression than he maintained throughout every fight which always seemed to be "expression-LESS." His stmina was mind-blowing. Skillwise, there were very few who could match him. I was so hurt when he was killed in that car accident. I was trying to get into boxing but when tht happened, I lost interest in being a fighter. I will always miss him.
It was devastating when the news of Salvador's passing was announced, I was 19 when i heard, in my hometown Christchurch, New Zealand, it was on the 6 o'clock news, I couldn't believe it.

I have to be honest .. Sanchez doesn't get that much love. Im in my 50s and watched this guy fight when I was a kid with my father. We were always glued to our TV when he fought. As mexican americans, he was our fighter. He was the young champion who was a boxing star in our community. He was a big deal.. talented and humble but an avid student of the game. He had this style that just looked amazing as he threw punches at his opponents. It was a great time to be a boxing fan way back then. After he beat Nelson, our whole neighborhood went crazy with pure joy and happiness. Little did we ever think he would be gone from this earth just a short time after that fight. It was devastating... I was sad only a few times throughout boxing.. Sanchez death was one .. Boom Boom Mancini when he fought Doo Ku Kim and Kim died a few days later after that fight, leaving his pregnant wife behind.. and Gerald Mcquellum being taken out on a stretcher after his devastating fight with Nigel Benn, that left him brain damaged. Boxing can be a brutal sport for some, but I respect all those who go into that ring to earn a living. This was an amazing short film on one of my favorite boxers growing up. It brought back a lot of memories of my father and I watching boxing together in our living room. The narration was excellent and on point. You gave good supporting commentary on each fight. The whole thing was BLOODY FANTASTIC‼️.
"VIVA SANCHEZ POR VIDA" 😇💔
I also watched this video with my dad and uncle. They have a tough relationship, they have some lifelong animosity from things I'm not sure about since they were young and they don't talk about it but they are not usually acting like brothers to each other. Watching this was the first time I saw them really laughing and enjoying something like brothers would do as they were both big fans of Sanchez. The video was awesome and we all cheered for the punches and techniques and I love sanchez but most important was those moments when Sanchez was announced in the ring and my dad and brother were clapping for him and talking about things in Spanish which I don't understand too well but I was just happy to see them happy. I hope they can build on this or maybe I have to put Sal on in the background when they are around together lol. Thank you for your comment about those times, I'm glad to see Sanchez was loved and he deserved all that respect and more. Terrific fighter.
@rrr59921 it's a beautiful thing when a sport or love for an athlete can break down barriers or walls or animosity towards one another... all because they share the love for an amazing fighter. A fighter who was a Mexican... Chicano .. a symbol of pride. A common interest shared by brothers who loved and admired and cheered him on... it doesn't get any better than that. All it takes is a crack in that wall for it to come falling down. I hope one day they can forgive and love one another again as brothers because life is too short to hold anything against thy brother 🙏🏼 ❤️.
He didn't have the time think about in the context that he would have moved up to or three weight divisions by the time he retired. I think about all the fighters in those weight divisions that were in their prime Duran's Chavez I mean it's endless All the guys he could have had the potential of fighting. This was so sad absolutely sad. He never got to reach the heights of a mega star. Guy made it look so easy I never have never ever seen him breathe hard. Incredible athlete

@@kllbll85 people mentioning Duran but what was Duran doing at 23 years old? Losing to a guy called Esteban de Jesus! By contrast, Sanchez was pound for pound king of boxing when he was 23 years old! Duran improved a lot but Sanchez would have improved just as much himself and grown into bigger weights. Sanchez is clearly a guy who learns quickly. Trainers were probably shocked when they were teaching him head movement and countering and then they get him on the pads to practise and hes doing it masterfully after a few tries. The point is he has lots of room to improve at 23 even though his skills are other worldly at that age. It looks like Sanchez is at his peak because his game is so complete but we might have just been hitting the surface. He said himself in his interview after that Lopez fight that he mentioned intelligence. The guy was a craftsman. I'd say he learned a hell of a lot in that Nelson fight.

I never heard of this guy before today. What did we ever do without UA-cam?
Everyone always talks about Sanchez iron lungs and while i do agree that he’s probably the greatest conditioned fighter ever. His accuracy and precision has got to be one of the greatest ever. If you look at his combinations there is no wasted movement, no wasted punches, he knew when put volume together and when to put some mustard behind his punches. The accuracy behind every punch was clinical, the definition of dissecting the opponent. If he threw a 4/5 punch combination he would land 3/4 of the punches everyone knows if you’re landing more than 50% of your punches you’re putting on a clinic. and he also did a great job of mixing it up the body and head. Even disguising where he was going to punch, he would crouch and make opponents think he’s going to the body and change angles and land a hook, uppercut or overhand punch upstairs. I mean there is so much you can say about him you can honestly write a book describing his skills. I didn’t even get into his footwork and fluid movements, his IQ, his conditioning and on top of it all the great fighters he did these things to.
Greatest P4P fighter for me🇲🇽🇲🇽🥊

Yeahh, me too. I always looked forward to his matches when I was a kid. It was just unfortunate to hear from the news that he met an accident or was it road rage? Wasn't sure, though.
@@kensnow7837accident! Apparently he was going too fast.
@@apachedr34 still an accident
A truly unique champion extremely versatile amazing foot work and constant head movement. He was a terrific counter puncher and he put together amazing combinations a chin of steel and a heart as big as a lions. He had terrific stamina and he was one of the most accomplished complete boxers to have ever graced the square ring. I am not ashamed of saying I cry every time I see him because of how Great he was and how much he had to Give he is and was one of the greatest champions of all time RIP Salvador Sanchez you are gone but not Forgotten 😔
la cara de salvador Sanchez después de 15 rounds ☺️
I was desvastated when he died. I agree this is the best pound for pound boxer I have ever seen...
Danny Lopez was a champ for standing his ground against such harsh beating... bravo. Sanchez was just Total Fire!
He was like taking Ali and combining him with Ricardo Finito Lopez. A perfect fighter doesnt exist - but he was as close as you can get. RIP.
I agree 100% with your assessment of Salvador Sanchez. I also believe he was the best featherweight in the history of the game and arguably the greatest fighter of all time in any weight class. I remember being a kid spending my summers in Mexico with my cousins and the entire block huddling around a small TV to watch the Sanchez Gomez fight. I’ve been a boxing fan since then. Rest in peace champ!
Probably best in his weight class but Rocky Marciano better as nobody ever beat him.
@@stevenmiller6725skillwise sanchez was way better than marciano who beat alot of old past prime fighters! sanchez the best.
Glad to find this channel and glad to discover this fighter. Had to say he knew how to fight 🥊 true LEGEND 🙌🏼
Thank you for posting this great video about Salvador Sanchez. What a great Boxer he was. I was too young to remember his fights; however, thanks to you and UA-cam it makes me appreciate how incredible he was. I now understand why so many other professionals boxers think he is the GOAT!
This is why I respect UA-cam to a degree. I always heard of him as a youngster but never got to see his legend…until a few years ago.
The greatest to ever come out of Mexico and one of the best ever.
Congratulations on a beautifully produced video. Your analysis and delivery did justice to this amazing fighter. Bravo!
GREAT video. Thank you!!!
OMG! What skill, almost like a dance and the precision when under enormous pressure. I have seen them all but Sanchez was the greatest pugilist I have ever seen. RIP.
Sanchez had complete control of all his fights even with the great Azuma Nelson. Sanchez was the epitamy of what a professional boxer should be today. No glam just old school boxing smarts, moves a lot of cool patience, playing the poker moves, wearing out his boxers n going in for kill at the right moment! He definitely knew what he was doing, never left it to a lucky punch 🎉🎉
Only heard of him via a a few comments and whispers from way back when. But, this is fascinating stuff. Thanks for the vid :)
Great video, my dad and older brothers used to tape this fights in VHS, still have them but no VCR, i was born in 76 but watched this fights later in the 80s.
Love you Salvador Sanchez. Thanks. Rip 😔
I grew up watching Sanchez. To me he is the greatest ever. Such a shame to lose him at such a young age.
Outstanding video sir!! Excellent footage and narration @ Gloves 👏
Great Video, beautifully put together, visible quality is outstanding, and yes he was a master in the Ring, thank you 🙏🏻
I didn't really hear about Sal until Canelo had his recent fights in '23. He did look like an overall complete boxer, thanks for keeping a legend alive and educating the boxing enthusiasts.
They asked that pos about SS and he said he didn't know about him. From that point on I hate Canelo
One of my top 5 fighters love this man
incredible. Thanku for posting!!👍👍😊😊
You have to be nearly fifty or so to remember this LEGEND. He was a bad boy!!!!
HE IS AN AMAZING WARRIOR THEY NEED MORE FOOTAGE OF HIM. Rest In Peace Great Warrior !!!!!
Thanks for this great video Salvador sanchez is the GOAT a true master of this craft.
Wonderful video! I grew up in Mexico watching his career, thank you for not just the memories but also to remind us of the greatest Mexican boxer of all times. Not Chavez nor Canelo have what this kid had.
Salvador was the best boxer of his time, maybe all time. He was such a delight to watch.
Salvador Sanchez. Goat. Never really lost a fight. One questionable decision against him. Best cardio.. From rd 1 to 15..same footwork, breathing, rhythm. The best overall fighter that I have ever seen. An absolute monster from he was barely into his 20s. Would love to have seen him against a young Floyd Mayweather.
What a great reaction breakdown of this video I highly enjoyed it felt like I was watching. A documentary/ movie thank u very much...
