I've told people about this kid for years, I'm a former golden gloves boxer myself and we all knew who Salvador Sanchez was, undeniably the finishest fighter I have ever seen, his corner men were amazing to watch, they put on a performance that was mesmerizing, the taking of his pulse they would count his breathing, by the time the bell rang again, he was as fresh as the first round, and let's not forget the fighter, he was a tactician beyond words. I heard Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Junior talk about this guy with reverence. Both their body language changed when his name came up, and the whole interview's energy changed up a notch. I'm here to find out who he is.

As a Mexican Boxing Fan, I just wanna say: Thank You for the Video. Means a lot, not only for the old school Fans who comes back good memories also the new ones whos going to see this legend at the first time. Historically, the Mexican fighter is respect for going forward until the end, combining with a unique technique, Salvador became an Elite fighter. That's why I agree with the notion that he could have been the best Boxing fighter in history.

Sanchez at 23 was already an elite fighter and a legend. He beat Puerto Rico's and Africa's greatest fighters. You don't see a weakness in him as you would most fighters. And like the great ones, he always found a way to win. He never forced a knockout either. His footwork is the best I've ever seen, he's still bouncing on his toes in ROUND 15!!! Anybody that's ever been in a ring they know that's INSANE. Sanchez had all the qualities Chavez, Marquez, Morales, Barrera, and Finito had, but better. Offensively, defensively, condition wise, and ring IQ he was like a little Sugar Ray Robinson. Chava's training methods were similar to Haglers and Marciano's. Rain or snow he ran 10-15 miles daily in the MOUNTAINS at high altitude. He trained under 100+ degree weather with the ring built outside, not inside a gym. He had a doctor training him how to lower his heartbeat and control his breathing. Swam daily. Master of the sweet science, but trained like a Spartan. Trained and sparred with Lupe Pintor too! Must of been a sight to see that one!
I'm mesmerized by his overall talent. What I love most about him was his composure during a fight .he was a complete Total boxer who would have rose to unbelievable rank in the world of boxing
@@luckyapple2655 Thanks man. No, I wish I was a pro. I didn't know how to fight at first I was a wimp, but once I trained I did have about 45 amateur fights in Mexico at featherweight/super featherweight and I won them all. My uncle Cesar Deciga whom I'm named after was a contender in the 70s and fought legendary puncher Carlos Zarate. My idol was Naseem Hamed at the time late 90s so my style was not very Mexican and it would piss off my trainers at the time. It resembled like Luis Alberto "Venado" Lopez, current featherweight champ. I also met Muhammad Ali and was blessed by him as was my little brother and he yelled out to some journalists that were there "These are the champions of the future!" God bless him.
He’s the first Mexican boxer who has hella foot work and good defense and offense. Most Mexican boxers are front foot heavy and static. Who reply on parrying blocking and counter punching but Salvador was very versatile with good ring generalship and ring IQ.
I 100% agree. I was a 14 year old amateur fighter and huge fan of the sport when he died. I was actually at a tournament in Arlington, TX when I heard the news. Like most fans it was initially shock and then deep sadness. We had lost a super talent at an age when he was probably just reaching his prime. But like most I had no idea who he was when he fought Danny Lopez. For the first 5 rounds I just knew Danny was going to get him with his right and this brave young challenger would be gone. Little did I know just what a complete fighter this young challenger was. After round 6 I still was holding hope for Little Red but I saw his title slipping away. What s clinic Sanchez put on though..
My dad always used talked about him and Wilfredo Vargas. Always saying how much of a boxing masterclass he gave to Vargas. My dad is puertorican but always been a fan of Mexico and his people.
If it wasn't for Sanchez Chavez will never exist. Sanchez till this day is the best 15 round boxer that has ever made it. Not even Mayweather had the same skills and stamina like Sanchez.
I think had they met early in Chavez carrier, that would've been the end of Chavez greatness what we know today. Their wouldn't be an 89-0 record. Sanchez would've given him his first loss early on in his career. Sanchez was not a man to F*** with . R.I.P. champ . You're our true Mexican great 👍 🐐 Chavez # 2

My favorite fighter of all time. He was so cool, calm and composed throughout every fight. I have only seen ONE photo where he had a different expression than he maintained throughout every fight which always seemed to be "expression-LESS." His stmina was mind-blowing. Skillwise, there were very few who could match him. I was so hurt when he was killed in that car accident. I was trying to get into boxing but when tht happened, I lost interest in being a fighter. I will always miss him.
I have to be honest .. Sanchez doesn't get that much love. Im in my 50s and watched this guy fight when I was a kid with my father. We were always glued to our TV when he fought. As mexican americans, he was our fighter. He was the young champion who was a boxing star in our community. He was a big deal.. talented and humble but an avid student of the game. He had this style that just looked amazing as he threw punches at his opponents. It was a great time to be a boxing fan way back then. After he beat Nelson, our whole neighborhood went crazy with pure joy and happiness. Little did we ever think he would be gone from this earth just a short time after that fight. It was devastating... I was sad only a few times throughout boxing.. Sanchez death was one .. Boom Boom Mancini when he fought Doo Ku Kim and Kim died a few days later after that fight, leaving his pregnant wife behind.. and Gerald Mcquellum being taken out on a stretcher after his devastating fight with Nigel Benn, that left him brain damaged. Boxing can be a brutal sport for some, but I respect all those who go into that ring to earn a living. This was an amazing short film on one of my favorite boxers growing up. It brought back a lot of memories of my father and I watching boxing together in our living room. The narration was excellent and on point. You gave good supporting commentary on each fight. The whole thing was BLOODY FANTASTIC‼️. "VIVA SANCHEZ POR VIDA" 😇💔
@rrr59921 it's a beautiful thing when a sport or love for an athlete can break down barriers or walls or animosity towards one another... all because they share the love for an amazing fighter. A fighter who was a Mexican... Chicano .. a symbol of pride. A common interest shared by brothers who loved and admired and cheered him on... it doesn't get any better than that. All it takes is a crack in that wall for it to come falling down. I hope one day they can forgive and love one another again as brothers because life is too short to hold anything against thy brother 🙏🏼 ❤️.

This was so sad absolutely sad. He never got to reach the heights of a mega star. Guy made it look so easy I never have never ever seen him breathe hard. Incredible athlete
@@kllbll85 people mentioning Duran but what was Duran doing at 23 years old? Losing to a guy called Esteban de Jesus! By contrast, Sanchez was pound for pound king of boxing when he was 23 years old! Duran improved a lot but Sanchez would have improved just as much himself and grown into bigger weights. Sanchez is clearly a guy who learns quickly. Trainers were probably shocked when they were teaching him head movement and countering and then they get him on the pads to practise and hes doing it masterfully after a few tries. The point is he has lots of room to improve at 23 even though his skills are other worldly at that age. It looks like Sanchez is at his peak because his game is so complete but we might have just been hitting the surface. He said himself in his interview after that Lopez fight that he mentioned intelligence. The guy was a craftsman. I'd say he learned a hell of a lot in that Nelson fight.

I have never seen a fighter so CONSISTENT on his art of boxing 🥊 he moves to avoid a hit and at the SAME time setup to UNLOAD his precise counter COMBINATION. Amazing.
Everyone always talks about Sanchez iron lungs and while i do agree that he’s probably the greatest conditioned fighter ever. His accuracy and precision has got to be one of the greatest ever. If you look at his combinations there is no wasted movement, no wasted punches, he knew when put volume together and when to put some mustard behind his punches. The accuracy behind every punch was clinical, the definition of dissecting the opponent. If he threw a 4/5 punch combination he would land 3/4 of the punches everyone knows if you’re landing more than 50% of your punches you’re putting on a clinic. and he also did a great job of mixing it up the body and head. Even disguising where he was going to punch, he would crouch and make opponents think he’s going to the body and change angles and land a hook, uppercut or overhand punch upstairs. I mean there is so much you can say about him you can honestly write a book describing his skills. I didn’t even get into his footwork and fluid movements, his IQ, his conditioning and on top of it all the great fighters he did these things to.

Ah, Salvador Sanchez-what a name to bring up! The man was a true legend, gone far too soon, but in his short time, he left a mark that few could ever hope to match. His fights were like poetry in motion, combining grace, power, and a natural ring IQ that made him seem untouchable. That war against Wilfredo Gomez alone was enough to cement his legacy. There really hasn’t been another like him since. Sometimes you wonder what more he could have achieved had fate been kinder. But in those 23 years, he gave the boxing world something immortal.

The absolutely BEST BOXING VIDEO I've ever seen in my whole life.... Without taking away anything from the other great fighters of all times, it's better than the ones with Rocky Marciano, Marvin Hagler, Carlos Monzon etcetera that are also legends. He really was number one, and only God knows what would he have done if he wouldn't have died so young... What a pity. But what he did since that moment remains in history, this is for sure, at the highest level ever seen even nowadays.

Best comment ever. You must be a pro man.

He didn't have the time think about in the context that he would have moved up to or three weight divisions by the time he retired. I think about all the fighters in those weight divisions that were in their prime Duran's Chavez I mean it's endless All the guys he could have had the potential of fighting.

Amazing.
He training camps were legendary. He trained up in the mountains near a volcano. He was just built different.

I was born in 1981 so I was too young back then, but to know he existed and rose to the top of his game was amazing to watch. I was born in El Salvador, which means "The Savior", so his name holds a special place in my heart. RIP Salvador.
You're watching Sanchez struggling vs another bum 😂. Roberto Duran and Pryor would've ko this overrated Sanchez
@@charmcompassion9199 wow totally missed the purpose of my post. Why don't kick my dog too..
what a complete boxer
Salvador Sanchez seemed as he had 3 lungs, never tired...looked the same from round 1 to 15...fun to watch. Very humble also.
The best boxer I have ever seen no one like him that Quality is not there anymore ❤❤👌👌👍👍awesome video
The greatest to ever come out of Mexico and one of the best ever.
You have to be nearly fifty or so to remember this LEGEND. He was a bad boy!!!!
I grew up watching Sanchez. To me he is the greatest ever. Such a shame to lose him at such a young age.
That's why u call him the best cuz he died and ur Mexican LMAAAOAO
Proud to say my father named me after the greatest boxer of all time! Which was also his favorite boxer of all times.
Nice video, thank you!
I agree, Sanchez was one of the greatest fighters I ever saw! Such a shame he did not have more time who knows what he would have achieved!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@samuelprettcry about it 🥱
I'm sad that the only way I was able to see this amazing boxer was after he passed! Absolutely amazing master of the sweet science of boxing! So sad ❤
Crazy he passed at only 23. Bro wasn’t even grazing his prime. Long Live Salvador Sanchez
I watched him long before this fight on Box de Mexico on a Spanish TV channel when we were living in San Antonio and with my wife being an Hispanic she would translate for me what the announcers was saying.. And I knew this guy was special and would be a champion.. He likes fast cars and unfortunately he dies in a accident driving his Porsche 928..
Hispanics and African fighters are straight up warriors, that’s what makes us the best.
Man, he was the FLOW, to hell with being "in it”. Travel well champion!
Danny Lopez told me one day, that Sancgez would have never lost of fight except he died young. Danny actually admired Sanchez.
Wow, the respect from Lopez was both toward the person and the gifted athlete. Thanks for sharing.
Well he was 44-1-1 when he died.
The greatest fighters lose eventually! There is always someone better on a given day! Doesn’t matter how great you are someone will step up and beat you one day!
Who would not admire Salvador Sanchez, who was a legend a true warrior l am a huge fan of him RIP

He was a true warrior and a beautiful fighter. It was a sad day when we lost him. RIP champ
I never heard of this guy before today. What did we ever do without UA-cam?
It's crazy how he accumulated 46 fights and passed away at just 23 years old.
He's a legend even after a short life, but imagine the glory he would have achieved if he had remained with us
During his day , many fighters were into the coke and weed scene.
Be quiet canelo had 44 fights by 23 and they were all bums Lmao
some one wanted him dead.
it's a real shame 😭
Canelo lo rebasó en chinga
Este es el mejor video que he visto de Salvador Sánchez y he visto muchos
A great tribute to one of, if not the, greatest champions of all-time. At 23 you are just getting started. Apparently God decided he wanted him all to himself. He's like that with his angels...
God decided? really? That shows how much you know God.
@@jsanchez3922the GOAT!! Sanchez.
@@jsanchez3922 Well then who?
@@tonymoreno1416 Salvador himself by driving recklessly.
(7 You cannot fool God, so don't make a fool of yourself! You will harvest what you plant. )
@@jsanchez3922 Where do I imply that God can be fooled? Sounds to me like you're the fool. How many have driven recklessly and survived terrible accidents. When God calls your number, that's it. So, get a grip, clown.
