I cried when I saw her mom dropped to her knees. I’m a 27 year old who just finished my undergraduate. When my father got sick in 2011, me and my 2 brothers had to stop college. He was in and out of the hospital and in 2014 the doctor said his heart condition is not good - and that he could experience an attack anytime. Me and my brothers went our separate lives and worked different jobs (Fastfood chains, call centers, etc…). In 2015 I was accepted on a well-paying online job that allowed me to pay my rent (I lived independently at that point), and it gave me extra time to slowly take university courses and enroll on a degree granting program. It took me 5 years because I had to dabble between my classes and time for work. There were times I only had to sleep 2 hours a night because of the workload and the school paper requirements. Fast forward 2020, I finished my studies, and got my degree. Sadly, due to the pandemic my dad was not able to witness my graduation rites. But hopefully next year he will. That would be a great gift for him. Now, I’m trying to find a new job. And will then help my brother get to school without him needing to work.

@Rafael Arturo Mateo Núñez I think that the US makes it more competitive because theres not as much of a need, so they weed out extra people. In the future of DR, to limit the number of people applying, I'm sure they'll create more requirements. That's not the case right now probably because there is a need for more doctors. Would you say so?
@@VannyBranny right they not talking about after high graduation at like 17 or 18 she was leaving high school when her peers were entering it. She got me about a yr and a some. And I tell u that was no easy feat. (Had to maintain a 3.6 grade average)
Aphro actually there is plenty of need in the US, in fact there should be more medical schools opening or larger class sizes imo. Undergrads have to jump through 1000 hoops to get accepted to medical school nowadays, which is why there are shortages everywhere, especially in hospitals. It’s not as noticeable if you live in a big city, but trust me, the demand definitely outpaces supply year after year.

Oh man, this got me. My mother is one of 8 children from Costa Rica. Against all odds, she was able to get her bachelor's degree there and was the only one in her family to finish high school, let alone college. She moved to FL with my father and had me and my younger brother here, hoping to provide us with a better life and more opportunities. Of course, that came with great sacrifices. All she ever asked of me is to get an education. My academic path has not been as straight forward as we all had hoped. With bouts of depression, anxiety, and overall indecisiveness of what to major in (switched majors so many times 🤦🏻♀️), I have not been able to give my mother that satisfaction of seeing her daughter graduate with any degree. At 29 I decided to go back to school and try to finish my degree. But I am struggling with online schooling during this pandemic (as many others are as well) and have been so close to just withdrawing. Watching this video brought me to tears. What I want more than anything is to give my mother and father the satisfaction of seeing me graduate. Watching you achieve such an amazing goal has lit a fire in me to do the same. I desperately want to be a speech pathologist and I've always been terrified of graduate school but that is my goal. Funny enough, UCF is the school I dying to go to! I'll take that as a sign to keep pushing and not giving up. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing such a beautiful story with the world. You are a true inspiration!! I hope to one day share a similar story. Bendiciones!! ❤️ 🙏🏽 🎓

So were going to ignore that Loida's mom is a genius( medical school at 14 or 15 yr. old)
Thats what i was thinking. Momma must be super smart.
@Rafael Arturo Mateo Núñez but she was still 14 🤨
@@VannyBranny right they not talking about after high graduation at like 17 or 18 she was leaving high school when her peers were entering it.

The way women (including my own mother) repeatedly make sacrifices for their children is astounding. This was sooooo beautiful and I hope I can make my mother this proud one day

Why would anyone dislike this video? Tf is wrong with y’all? Respect to this family ✊🏽
IKR. Some people are just jealous.
Gloria Perez. Unfortunately, there are people that are just miserable and it makes them hateful. They are incapable of being happy for someone else!
Jealous people who can't seems to like it when people succeed
Coz the video is a setup for UA-cam views, no discredit to her achievement, it's the way the creators attempt to cash in on a video that is rehearsed and state that it's not
Maybe they are the ones who believe the blm lie that all blacks are oppressed and unable to achieve great things by working hard. They have a tendency to turn hateful to any hard working person

Do it for yourself. Real parents will be proud of you regardless of what you do. ❤️ 🙏🏽 🎓
