Also the attention to detail on some of the shows like gundam 08 Ms team looks realistic and gritty showing the rust, mud and bullet holes on the mechs and dbz they show blood and you can hear broken bones

Man i remember seeing anime for the very first time, i didn't even know what anime was, and it caught my eye immediately. Even now, I love anime as much as i used to but i just can't enjoy new anime the way i do older ones. Even if I'm not super crazy about the anime, as long as the atmosphere can interest me, take my money. That's something I can't easily say for newer anime these days. Cowboy Bebop, OG Hunter X Hunter, Great Teacher GTO, Magic Knight Rayearth, Inuyasha, the list goes on. The 90s and 2000s era of anime literally influenced me to become an artist and everytime I watch them, I'm reminded of why I do what I do. Also did i mention the FIRE EDITING IN THIS VIDEO???? Keep it up dude!

For me I enjoy alot of the anime movies and miniseries that came out in the late 80s to mid 90s, many of which aired on Saturday Morning Matinee on Scifi during the 90s; Iria: Zeiram the Animation, Venus Wars, Fatal Fury, and all that jazz. If you haven't seen it yet, would highly recommend Wings of Honneamise and Venus Wars.

You appreciate the darker tone? Then look up Getter Robo: Armageddon, and Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still. Both are homages to what's already two original mangas with dark storytelling, that got updated to the 90's style in OVA glory.
