@@everysingleguitars Not trying to be a jerk here, honest, but Gibson SG is not a model name, it's a form factor name, a series. The Ibanez series is RG.

Gibson ES 335 TDC confused me for a long time but I doubt it affected sales. Is ES335 TDC is thinline, double, cutaway ??
oh, no, it's cherry... every 335 is a cutaway, duh.
TD - Thinline with double pickups
TDC - Thinline with double pickups in a cherry finish
TDN - Thinline with double pickups in a natural finish (1958-1960)

RG4EXQM1 ... RG series, 4 is perhaps 24 fret? (I'd rather it be "24" if so), EX is likely extreme just because Ibanez makes lots of extreme styles, Q is perhaps quilted, M is perhaps maple and 1 ...?...maybe it's the first series?
So yes, lots of abbreviations, but not, not different method than anyone else ... they've simply made thousands of variations of the years ... does anyone have more models?

This guitar isn't meant to vibrate a room with volume. Look at how thin it is. Look at the painted HPL. Small body laminates don't vibrate like real tone woods with larger bodies. You may as well complain that you bought a fork and it doesn't work with your bowl of soup.

I can certainly understand where you are coming from if you are looking at this guitar from a purely acoustic standpoint. However, it is not a purely acoustic guitar. It is an acoustic/electric guitar hence AEG. As such it is designed to work in both worlds. The fact that it will not produce those deep sounds as an acoustic also means that it won't feedback as easily when plugged into an amp. In other words this guitar can be cranked up for live performance without worrying about unwanted noise. So what may be annoyance in one venue can be a strength in another.

I spent hours and hours and.... looking at and giving a good solid working through at least 15 guitars with a $1000 price cap. I wound up at first buying this Martin auditorium sized acoustic with very nice tone and electronics for $599 from Guitar Center and after I got er' home a very soon fell out of love with it. I've been playing 45 years now pretty much entirely fingerstyle and I guess the brand name and lovely colors/finish had blurred my perspective because the thing played like S--T especially as far my technique is concerned. The High "E" kept popping off the neck and I swear it felt like the fingerboard was concave. You know: like the opposite of the way it should be. They tried making some adjustments but to no avail. At least they honored their commitment and let me return it for full price and I started all over. I had really been looking for more of a concert sized guitar, anyway, but I tried every one of those many guitars at least twice over the course of about three hours and each of them I tried I used my personal Takamine dreadnought that plays quite nicely as a barometer and the contest winner that PLAYED the best was this little Ibanez and in retrospect it wasn't really even that close. I absolutely ADORE how this instrument PLAYS and I don't care: if you can't play the damn thing comfortably why buy it? I've had and sold or otherwise replaced many guitars but this one they'll have to pry from my cold dead hands. This guy's really just a strummer by the look of things so his evaluations tend to lean that way I think.

I couldn’t disagree more. Comparing it to everything but what it is might add to your disappointment. I personally cannot afford Martins or Taylors right now. You said it yourself “maybe I’m spoiled because I’ve been playing Martins & Taylors.” I just picked up an Ibanez V70ce acoustic-electric. Thicker body than the one you have. The tone is awesome for a $199 price point. That guitar has a thinner body, but I still think it sounds good. I wonder if people can give reviews anymore these days without name dropping all the non comparable way more expensive versions of things. I look at things like guitars for what they are for their price point. Of course there can be horrible guitars at any price point. Not hating on you as a person. I just don’t come away from this review seeing anything but just looking down at it for not being a Martin or a Taylor. The tone is terrible for a $300 guitar. Ibanez has made many better at that price point and the proof is the simple chord strumming he did. The cheap Gretsch parlor guitar in black that is $199? sounds far better.
Can't buy a Taylor, get ready, this is odd to say, but the Gibson (Epiphone) acoustics are super good for the price. A real Texan has got to be over $2500 and the Epiphone was $700?... Thanks for the review everysingleguitar. I just tried one of these guitars at a music store. I loved how playable it was. I have a Yamaha Apx-600 which I love the sound of but I don’t find it all that easy to play. I prefer a guitar with an electric style neck with a small radius and a thin neck. The frets on the Yamaha are too tall. Today, I visited my local music store and tried a Ibanez AEG7M acoustic. It was made in China but was more comfortable for me to play. It was $420 Canadian plus tax. It looked to be a plywood top. I am wondering if you have reviewed a Ibanez like this but that has a better sound? Does Ibanez make a similar guitar with a solid top?

Dude, you've totally missed the point of this guitar. The first (and still only) brand new guitar I bought was an Ibanez acoustic. maybe $300 bucks back in the mid-90's. Beautiful rich sound, still play it, and have had many people tell me it sounds comparable to a $1000 Martin (a 90's $1000 Martin). Fast forward 20 years and I was playing in a Bob Seger tribute band (as Bob), and needed to switch off between acoustic and electric a lot, as well as handle singing. The standard dreadnought shape was not quite comfortable enough for that while standing, and it was a non-electric (they were not as common back then) so I had to deal with a soundhole pickup. Searched around for something more easily playable, with a pickup, and a slimmer body. Tried many brands. Wound up with - the Ibanez AEG 10. Fit nicely while standing, very playable, stayed in tune forever (which is also true on my older one), and while it doesn't have the richer tones of a deeper-bodied guitar, the EQ built in, and running it through the PA eliminated that issue - WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR.
I appreciate the effort you're putting into this channel (though speaking of confusing names - every single guitarssss? Really?), but you're comparing apples and oranges here, and unfairly dissing a pretty damn good guitar. It's like saying a les paul is lousy because it doesn't sound like a strat. Maybe plug it in next time. Or do some research.

The is some confusion here. To clarify the guitar is an electro acoustic. It's famous for being very easy to play and famous for being very flexible being able to play live at gig. Think of it like more like an electric guitar. A good example is the song more than words or Friday night in San francisco album. You can also get an auditorium size electro acoustic which sounds great especially withour the black finish on it (it's added because it prevents damage when at gigs. I have a large electro acoustic, I have an electric guitar with 2 inputs so blends both sounds.
It's a good solid very flexible guitar. You should get an auditorium size electro acoustic. Ibanez are famous for being so easy to play. Yamaha are famous for being solid singer songwriters guitars which are cheap and bit harder to play fast.

When reviewing an acoustic guitar the very first thing we should know is does it have a solid top. Laminate back and sides are acceptable but the top is what produces a lot of the tone so if it's solid you should be getting a reasonable tone.Brazilian luthier Antonio Tessarin built an acoustic guitar with cardboard back and sides just to prove a point, of course the top was solid wood and it sounded great.

It has the same high style sound, it works really well for blues and country stuff in my opinion.
It just depends on what you play.
Thats why I got a couple different guitars , for example a parlour guitar is also great because it can sound full but also snappy and thin.
But to get back to the subject I love my ibanez acoustic , especially the high tones sound really clean and the playability is really good.
But mine has for sure some more depth on the low e.

These guitars were designed to be performed with and as such, eliminating feedback was a big concern, so the tone isn't going to be a huge dreadnaught-like tone. Again, they have all kinds of acoustics that would have been a better fit for you. Though, honestly, at the $300 price point, it's hard to get upset with these faults.

I just purchased an ibanez aeg50 honey burst. I have to say it's also the lowest review I would give an acoustic guitar. I searched youtube to see reviews to see if anyone else had the same opinion. Yep. I have to say. Mine sounds just like yours and I feel very much the same. I know it's under $600 but $300 is still a lot to pay for what I believe is a toy guitar. I agree the construction seems great. It just sounds so thin and so cheap. I've played it for several people and they were like.....no man. Play your epiphone...my god. Lol.
This is hard for me to admit. I am an ibanez fan. I own several ibanez electric guitars. Strange cuz I play blues and classic rock. I did swap pickups and stuff. But I'm disabled and have tiny hands and ibanez guitars are a great feel for me. However, I am very disappointed in the fact ibanez is robbing people of $300 with these models. Rude to say but it is honestly the worst playing and sounding acoustic I've ever played. It sounds ok plugged in but it still feels cheep and like a toy as soon as you start playing chords. I do agree it plays single notes ok. But there is no resonance, no sustain, and no high end at all. I wish I was just reviewing it and I didn't spend months trying to get a guitar to have something to play to be this disappointed. Its a little mind boggling. I honestly played a pink $20 toy guitar that sounds better. Granted the pink guitar had way high action and was a $20 toy. But I'm not kidding when I say it sounded brighter and fuller.

FG is not a THINLINE. It was created to be played ELECTRICALLY by electric guitar players. THINLINE, Plywood top.Don't be a cork sniffer... By the way, the SPECS say what wood it is. Not a "Tech" review. You are spoiled. You didn't even plug the damn thing in to demo it lit , the way it was designed to be used. Looks like an axe you don't put flatwounds on, even though it's amped. I only use heavy flatwounds, a mix of weight that Rich Severson recommends. And no pick. (I could use a break, really, you can't play well right off the bat, you need five minutes to warm up your fingers for the pressure needed to be clean) And maybe this guitar can't handle somewhat heavy strings.

If you're going to review an acoustic electric guitar, its pretty important to play it as such. I know you said you dont play them electric, but its an important feature of this guitar. Then you gave it a low rating for tone. Overall a decent video, but the review is incomplete.

Check out the song more than words. Identical type of guitar. It's just a different type of guitar design with a lacquer to protect the body from damage. They are also the most east style of guitars. You can also get a huge dreadnought acoustic or electro acoustic which is harder to play which sounds nice.

The first part of the number is the model, in this case AEG10. All the following numbers indicate the color, what wood it's made of, whether it has a cutaway, whether it has electronics, gloss or satin finish, and other things to differentiate a specific guitar. When someone asks you what you play, just say an Ibanez AEG10, we'll know what you mean. This isn't unique to Ibanez.

Maybe compared to Martins and Taylors as you point out but for the price and the build it sounds pretty good although I’m hearing it on my iPad not in person. I do have one question that I hope you can answer and it may explain the thinness you are hearing. What are the exact make and gauge of the strings? Phosphor Bronze or 80/20? Thanks!

man, if feels like you are making a review taking as a standpoint a guitar like a D-28 or a J-45. This is an affordable laminate guitar that isn’t supposed to fill a whole room with a big punch of volume and beautiful overtones. That’s why you pay 3000 to 4000 for those guitars and you can get this ones for 300. It is made for a different purpose and for different type of consumer and it fits perfectly for what it is. I’d say it is a great guitar overall.

The Ibanez AE series is especially liked and recommended for female beginners. The built in electronics with tuner and thinner body are excellent for that purpose, the tone quality is secondary in importance in this respect. If there is a similar AE guitar with slim body that would be much better for similar cost please recommend it to me. Thank you, great video.

In the new 300 dollar acoustic range, you are going to be buying a made in China or Indonesia guitar. The majority of those factories are not owned by one of the brand name guitar companies. They take contracts from whoever. A Takamine and an Ibanez acoustic could be manufactured on the same line at the same time. However, because Ibanez are not thought of as an acoustic manufacturer, they can't charge the premium price for their made in China guitars that a Takamine can. Therefore, you get a guitar of the same quality for less money. It all comes down to listening to the individual guitar. There can be duds and diamonds in any line of guitar. That is why Martin recommends that you play a sample of their guitars before you buy one. In conclusion, listening to individual guitars is the way to go instead of your idea of just avoiding certain brands.

I have an ael20 with the blue burst, so it's the bigger bodied version of this one, it was my first serious guitar ever, I still have it. Sound wise yea it's not the greatest, real mid driven and kinda bright and tight, low end doesn't resonate well. Going from beginner to 15 years down the road it still holds up well and depending on the sound you want it's a good guitar. I just picked up a aw54opn and it was half the cost of the ael new 15 years ago. I like the sound better. But it's also a totally different guitar. I will say the aeg was probably designed to be used plugged in. So the ael version would have been a better option for the review for your playing style

When you have a shit load of guitars, these names which are basic codes for guitars are not only very useful but completely necessary. Acousto Electric Guitar BlacK and a number. If you have never seen a stratocaster before you would have no clue what it looked like from the name yet from this name you know almost exactly the guitar it is. Seems like a pretty weird thing to complain about to me.

I worry about your review. You seem to have a tendency towards US guitars. I think they are by and large overpriced. I do not play an Ibanez. The guitar sounded bright and melodic to me. All of these acoustic/electric guitars are made specifically for amplification. They are not pub session or studio guitars. I have a Taylor at the moment for acoustic and have 2 tele's which I built myself. I hate the dreadnought shape in guitars, mainly because they do not sit well when you are playing sitting or standing. I am going to change the Taylor for an Ibanez or Yamaha when I can get the dosh together. From Ireland.

The sound is not the best in this honestly sounds like a 200 guitar bro. Obviously you can make any guitar sound nice. But for 350 that extra 50 you could get a better cutaway. If you play that thing fast the notes wouldn't ring out enough . It isn't the worst thing I've seen for that price. Think it will need adjusting very soon fret buzzing will be a thing .
