I do think they would have a lot of fun once they made a shoe mold, it would be interesting to see if they would mold a store bought shoe or add onto one to get that more jewel like shape from the movie. Peter brown is also a really good resin youtuber, but I think Bobby duke arts would be really good at making a comfortable shoe! Seems like something crazy he would do!

My then dancing partner changed his steps in order to not trip over the petticoat. "Toes down" was the rule. We made it without accidents and without ruining the dress. :) Fun but terrifying.

As a fellow perfectionist, I can completely understand. Your hard work and skill payed off. I am not a seamstress, or even a casual sewing person, but I could definitely see the difference. It all looks beautiful!

This was so cool to watch! I’m not a skilled sewer or anything but I too was like oh daaaamn at the change on how it moved and opened “like a rose”. Adding those flounces to the inner hoop was sooo transformative too. 💕
this is not a perfectionist problem, this is seeing problems and resolving them to make the finished item much more amazing. First I saw the first version of this petticoat, I was like "Well it will look much better with the rest of the dress on...hopefully" but now I actually see Cinderella dress in full motion
That is the dress of a lifetime. Of course the original was made with a team of sewists and you have done this all by yourself. Not easily done by oneself. I am glad that you shared all the ups and downs. That is reality!! A truly magnificent job!!
Tacking layers together is something I've seen done with ballet tutus, to prevent the layers from separating out or becoming too fluffy. Called swing catches I think.
But I think she wanted the layers to separate more? Like the flounces kinda "stuck together" when she was dancing in the beginning, but at the end, due to the added frills and flounces, the skirt opened up a lot more, like a rose
I believe the term is called french tacks. A chain of thread similar to a belt loop. You can make them as long or short as needed to achieve the effect you need. Lots of earlier dresses have them to hold a lining in place without the constraint of tacking the layers together thus allowing movement but not total shifting as she was experiencing. I noticed them used on wedding gowns to hold the layers together but still allow movement.
@@deadbybee I think you're misunderstanding. The goal is to control the movement of the petticoat not open it more. That involves *how* each layer flows and opens up. Tacking it down in certain areas prevent the frills from compressing together in a spin so each layer can only go so far. Each individual rose petal opens up less the closer to the center it is; so the closer to the hoop skirt, the more tightly tacked down the skirt layers will be.
@@bigdadbeefsticks I agree, watching the Films dance I thought there is no way the dress and petticoat weren't flying up away from the hoop more than shown, unless of course the closest layers are attached to it somehow. As you mentioned even just a few well-placed tacks will make a huge difference and is common in hiding structural garments and aid an elegant movement none weighted outerwear.
I made my daughter's prom gown I have made many civil war era gowns I have even made a couple of Disney princess gowns for my granddaughter. I have never nor will I ever make Cinderella's ball gown. I bow to you. You deserve a medal. What a fantastic job!!!
This petticoat is the Queen of garments behaving differently than you calculated they would when worn. The finished dress is going to be such an awesome recreation of the original!!!

The last video the skirt made me feel like it was missing something, while gorgeous it wasn't the Cinderella dress... I know this must have been so frustrating and stressful but so worth it! The skirt has the magic now ❤️
The frills are so much more open when you twirl now I'm amazed that it made such a difference!

Ive recreated garments from movies and productions before, and one thing to help with that urge of working until everything is absolutely perfect is remembering that they had whole teams of experts making the garment, while you are creating the whole thing yourself! It seriously looks so stunning!
It's no wonder there were several people sitting around the dress making it. it's clearly a several person job. it's amazing you've done it all by yourself.

I am in awe of your hard work. As an aside, - I’m very sorry - your upset at April snow made me laugh. As I child, I always asked what they meant by “April showers bring May flowers” because it just snows in April and there’s never flowers in May! I grew up and realized that this was meant for warmer climates than where I lived. And I actually just envy you at having green grass in April! Once again, great work!
Bella said: "I can't make it perfect!" For me it's so faaar beyond perfect. She did a dress on which a looot of people worked on, all by herself with a huge accuracy. For me it's so much more than just perfect!

I'm so glad you did this. I could tell in the video before this one that you weren't completely happy with the movements of the petticoats. I think your on the right track. The movement flows much better now. This is quite a project you've taken on and you are doing a great job. Thank you for sharing the things that go right and the things that didn't go exactly how you planned and how you are dealing with solving those issues.

I don't think I have ever been more stressed by a wash cycle.
That being said, awesome video. I am really glad you got to make the changes you wanted to the petticoat and that it is closer to the concept you had in your head. When the petticoat was up on the table, it looked like a modern art installation.
Also, don't feel bad about tripping on the dress while dancing. After all, they had to make shorter versions for the movie to accommodate the running and dancing scenes and the actors still ended up wrecking the hems by stepping on them.

It’s so beautiful!! Hard work but it makes me want to make my granddaughter a similar dress. She does in fact want a Cinderella dress and I’ve seen what you get at the store and it’s not nearly as nice as a homemade one would be. I have a brand new sewing machine in the dining room waiting for me to go to town! I only took sewing in high school but I’ve made a few costumes when my kids were little. Thank you for your video which makes me want to make one just like it in a size 6X.
It certainly looks as though it’s moving much better. Before, even with small turns, we could see the hoop. Can’t see the hoop at all now.

I think the tacking technique sounds like a great idea! From what I've gleaned from various making-of ballet costume videos I've watched, tutus are made this way too, with the different layers tacked to each other - not so tightly as to completely impede movement, but enough to keep things under control and falling back into place as the ballerina moves.
You were successful in making the "blossoming" effect. The layers expanded and contracted to their original proper place. The tracking was a perfect solution. You did AMAZING!!! You should be proud of yourself 💖
I have never wanted to spin in a frilly dress more than when watching you spin. The layers of frill building and mixing as you even out the hem was beautiful. The end result is so worth all the hard work you put in, well done on all the problem solving

I am in tears. So much work has gone into this and seeing the progress made is just an amazing journey to be on. It really gets you motivated to do your own projects. And the B-roll at the end is just magical!!!

When you hear about haute couture gowns that cost $20k + and it seems soooo crazy but then you watch this dress being made and it makes sense.

You know as frustrating and as much work that this was it was totally worth it. You can really see the difference in how it moves, its much closer to the one in the movie I think you should be really proud of your problem solving here. You saw the issues and came up with a very effective way of fixing them and its really showed.
At first I thought "it wasn’t actually that bad, was it? ", but than I saw the end result. And it is so much better. All the extra time was well worth it. Your dedication to this project is admirable.
Also, snow in april... Yeah, that happens. It is bright and warm and sunny one minute and than it snows. For some reason it keeps surprising me, that people around the world have different experiences with weather. I know that's how it should be.

the comparison you made with your petticoat and how it's like a basic flower where the petals open to reveal an empty center but then cinderella's dress when twirling is like a rose where the petals are still pressed but you see more and more petals and beauty....such a beautiful comparison and makes complete sense you really are a disney princess

oh my GOSH it moves JUST LIKE the movie skirt! when you spin and it lifts out to the side it's just PERFECT! tacking the skirt between layers seems to really have sorted out the layers into staying in the right places. amazing job!

Definitely worth all that time/effort. It flows/hangs beautifully. I thought it looked lovely the first time round but the layers are more cohesive now - More ethereal. Love the sparkle of all the crystals. 💙

I was shocked when I read the title and by far astonished by the dedication you have to perfect it 😄 (but its also a mood, i personally would have done the same because if I want something exact, then I will make it exact haha)
Oh my gosh I can't believe you remade that entire thing. But I get it! If I had spent that much money and time on a project, I would want to work a little extra and make it perfect (or near perfect, I guess). It's really disheartening when you work so heart and the final product is underwhelming. I had already loved the previous petticoat SO much, I'm dying to see how this one turns out!

When you first talked about the hoop showing at the beginning of the video I was like "Maybe they tack the first layer of the petticoat to the hoop for the scene, But adding frills at the bottom and inside is so much better. I'm impressed by your dedication.
I feel you on the perfectionist issue. I have spent so many hours doing ridiculous things to perfectly usable garments because they aren't right FOR ME. But sometimes you just have to stop and say, it's good enough. Also, I can't remember. Have you weighed the petticoat yet? It's always so wild to me how something so light and airy looking can be so deceptively heavy.
Haha, yes! Yup, I weighted it and it's about 9.5 pounds! (and that includes the crinoline.)
Now I want a floofy pettycoat set so I can stand in my living room and spin.

You have gotten a lot done! You improved the shape/angle of the skirt, and it moves so well now! It is so much closer to the film dress. I love all the things you came up with to solve the problems. Adding more flounces higher up really worked. Attaching/tacking some layers also seems to help the movement. The top layer looks so lovely with the crystals!
Because of you and 2 mores UA-camrs i just decide to try sewing! So i have my first sewing machine and i'm so happy to try. I will not try doing a dress like that ( i'm a begginner ) but one day I'm gonna make it! So thank you so much for these videos !

I feel you’re pain as a perfectionist! And I would not be able take this advice myself but remember that you are one human person. The original dress had how many people working on it? Plus remember magic of cinema, they can just cut every shot where the hoops were exposed

It looks so good, though! The addition of frills and flounces to the hoop was such a good idea, and the softened and tweaked petticoats have great movement and a wonderful shape. Such a glorious confection!

I needed this video. I "ruined" a dress I've put so many hours into last weekend with bust dart alterations, but this video helped me feel like not all is lost and I can try again to fix it.
No matter how hard you try to convince yourself that is not perfect you are utterly wrong, it is perfect, it looks perfect, the way it moves, twirls and flares is simple perfect and mesmerizing, and I'm being as objective as a sagittarius can be, it also looks better on the inside than the original dress sooo there's that... From a fellow perfectionist, trust me, it is PERFECT, can't honestly wait to see the final dress! Oh and the vlogging style gave us a nice sense of reality and warmth, keep it up!

Btw, snow in April? Same thoughts here, in the Czech republic. In may, we've had 3 warm days so far, now it's raining, the rest of the snow on mountains is melting and rivers are rising in some areas. Great spring!

Not gonna lie, I noticed it didn't quite look right once the skirt went on top. But that petticoat was amazing! Happy that you were brave enough to make the corrections to get that final perfection.
I would never be able to pinpoint the reasons if you hadn’t explained each problem but I see the difference! The petticoat was already so beautiful but now it looks beautiful AND every way it moves is captivating and stunning. The accordion thingy with the way you tacked each layer to the previous makes the spin really magical to watch.
This was really relaxing to watch, I love listening to you talk, and the dress is beautiful
