Lyrics:
He said "I'll love you till I die", she told him "You'll forget in time"
As the years went slowly by, she still preyed upon his mind
He kept her picture on his wall, went half-crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all, hoping she'd come back again
Kept some letters by his bed dated nineteen sixty-two
He had underlined in red every single "I love you"
I went to see him just today, oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away, first time I'd seen him smile in years
He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today
You know, she came to see him one last time
Aww, 'n' we all wondered if she would
And it kept runnin' through my mind "this time he's over her for good"
He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

Hello young lady 👋, how are you doing?
@LuisDennis432 Yes I'm here Dennis...in youtube..
My brothers couldn’t understand why l loved this song so much. They thought a young black man couldn’t possibly love this type of music. I love all genres of music - especially pop and country! “He Stopped Loving Her Today” is perhaps one of the greatest country songs of all time. I can now understand why it was ‘Country Music’s Song Of The Year’ two years running: 1980 and 1981! It’s a classic!!!! Rest in Peace 🕊️ Possum - George Jones…
💯 brother
You’ve got great taste in music and life! 💔
That's what's up! To have such a musical palette is a blessing!
love we are all connected...no color...........we all have the spark of god...yes. we do.
we are children from shem noah son..yess...
No country singer past, present or future will ever sound better than George. No auto tune, no lip syncing. Real artist. The 🐐!
Country music died with Garth Brookes... what they have called country ever since the early 1990s ain't been worth a shit.
There's not a pop country singer on today's radio, who could tune this legend's guitar strings.
Brilliant comment!
This was truly my Dad's song...when my Mother left him I was 5... when I was grown he told me he thought he would lose his mind when she left...he didn't but he never married again and lived alone until he passed away at 70. . Makes me cry every time.
🥺💔
Mine too. I cry every time I hear it

The best of the best. A voice given by God. He was as human and mean and kind as anyone. He had his faults as we all do. Nobody will ever forget the possum.
Drove for some construction friends one summer to get workers to their job sites. One day, I had some music playing from my phone. They asked if I could play them a song. THIS ONE was the only one they requested.
