Wow. Well done man. Well done. A very detail oriented video. I appreciate all the direct comparisons. Has me thinking of going with a Trail boss and or ZR2 next.
Agree with the comparison, the ZR2 is loaded and looks better for a few thousand more. Also, I’m over the comparison of the ZR2 to the Raptor, I priced both trucks with comparable features(yes I know the Raptor is more capable, is a wide body, etc) and the Raptor came in $12k more than the ZR2. I love both trucks, and yes vehicle pricing is getting insane, but when you stack the ZR2 up with similar trucks with similar options(trd pro, tremor) they’re priced pretty similar.
Finding a zr2 at sticker is going to be tough. It’s a nice truck but pricing is getting absurd. I bought a 2020 6.2 lt trail boss 3 weeks before cv19 and got it for 14k off sticker. I think it was like 46k + ttl. Truck now has 35’s , king 2.5’s and baja kits arms and would slay the zr2 in the bumps. I do wish I had the e lockers but not at 75k.
Shit man, that 46k seems insane. Was that a dealer demo or was that on the lot for a year? Even with my close to 8k rebated 2020 Trail Boss, it was low 50's. If that's legit, good on you as something like that will never happen again.
January 2020 i got my trailboss 5.3 LT. Leather seats and almost fully loaded Only missing the mirror sensors and 1 button on the dash. Sticker was $55.8k and after combining incentives and promotions i got it at $49.6k plus taxes/fees. Oh and 0% apr 72mos When the market boomed i sold it for 47k and now i deeply regret it 🤦🏻♂️
Yea the trail boss looks more like the original chevy front end look. I dont care for that thin headlight different look it just doesnt say chevy to me...
@Ben Hardy Thanks for all the new Trail Boss Vids. I’m currently ordering a 6.2 Trail Boss in black. Option list: Convenience package, leather seats, power sunroof, power tailgate, 20” wheels, protection package, and the off road high clearance step bars. Total MSRP $66,190. Mainly, using truck on road with light off road only. This is the prefect build for us. I do prefer the look of Trail Boss over the ZR2. Obviously, if you’re rock crawling you’ll need to go with the ZR2 with the front and rear diff lockers. The 6.2 V8 is a must in either truck. ✌️
I have a 2020 trailboss and I prefer the auto locking deff because I don't take it offroad because there isn't a place near me where I can don't it with out scratching or denting it but we get a lot of snow around here and if the drive tire starts to lose traction it will lock up automatically I don't have to worry about it and yes she is a beast in the snow
I didn't want to deal with those ZR2 shocks later down the road as it gets older. I also don't live in the desert so its capabilities to run fast on the sand are useless for me. Thats what its designed for . My 6.2l Trail boss is about 1.5 weeks till delivery. It was on the train enroute to the dealer on 4-25 .
column shifter!?!? I just can't do the pretty little center console shifter. There is something about ripping down that Column shifter in trucks that I will always enjoy soo much even now and growing up, I'm sure others can relate. Great overall video comparison, however!
I've got an order in for a ZR2, but I'm seriously considering the LT TrailBoss. The only thing I cannot get on the TB is the rear view screen that comes with the ZR2's tech package. I'm not sure the DSSV shocks are really worth it. The main thing I want on the ZR2 is the front locker. But the TB lets you get the diesel and that diesel is pretty kick ass. Also, the 'power bulge' on the hood is just lame. If you're going to do a faux performance thingy, at least don't half ass it.
I went from 2018 Colorado Zr2 to a 2020 Trail Boss to a 2022 Silverado Zr2. The very first time I took the Trail Boss offroad I was disappointed. The suspension is soooo soft, in the sand I was bottoming the suspension out without any speed at app. Just took my 2022 zr2 to play in the sand last weekend and what a difference! Couldn't disagree more about the DSSVs, they are WORTH IT. I could go on about the other advantages, but there is no comparison. On the other hand, if you're only driving to soccer practice it probably won't matter 😂
Except for dealer mark ups! I wish Americans would wake up. Don't buy a new truck just wait if you do we will force them to stop the ridiculous prices. Manufacturer's want money. I drive to my local dealer every other day to check trucks out. They can't keep them on the lot more than a day. We need to put them in check.
I lean to the "spec'd out" Midnight Edition Trail Boss for 5 key preferences: 1. Standard Bed - so more practical room (ZR2 only comes in short bed) 2. Exhaust Setup - and blacked out (the ZR2's exhaust is "hidden") 3. The rims and tires are more aesthetically pleasing(to me) 4. Black leather interior(ZR2 comes in a 2 tone colour) 5. I'm not one to go off-road much- and when I do, I don't really "see what she can do" lol
Wow the starting msrp on the TB has gone up quite a bit… I’m glad i bought my LT Trailboss in 2020 when rebates were still expected , those days may be gone, you will pay msrp today .
15k over what I paid for a fully loaded 6.2 Trail Boss in 2020. The refreshed interior is nice but is it 15k nice? I lifted my truck with wheels and tires and I’ll wait for the next gen to possibly trade up. Choices

You’re right on truck prices, essentially I chose a 6” BDS lift with Fox Coilovers, wheels, and 35’s over trading to a refresh with the nice dash. I’ll see where I’m at in 2025, maybe 5k rebates come back, that’d be nice
Good luck finding either version without a dealer mark up. One dealer I spoke with with added $5k and the next dealer added $3k. Both were for the Trail Boss with the 6.2 and made them (with taxes) over $70000.
I disagree… I bought a 2022 trail boss 6.2L and because I got a stripped down power train “custom” instead of the LT, had a few items thrown in at dealership- for $51k out the door is a heck of a lot cheaper!!! I saved $20k
Good choice, I'm saving for a 2022 custom trail boss and hopefully by Christmas I'll have enough to almost pay cash for it and I'd say you saved over 20,000 dollars! Nice truck man!
@@VertexGolfAcademy thanks man, I just got the pulsar Lt to bypass the DFM. Also an oil catch can, and a cold air induction. I wish I could post a pic.
