Oh, some songs just open up the wound, don't they? It's a beautiful thing that you had so many years together. So sorry that your soulmate passed. Sending a virtual hug and praying that you find joy and wonder in the times ahead.
We all share a heart. And this one cuts us deeply. It's a reminder of all that has been taken and all that's been lost. The song speaks truth and that's the deepest cut.
You know, he's still with you. and he wouldn't want you to be sad. He had the time of his life, and just like yours, and mine as well, all things will come to an end, and those we leave behind are going to miss us, as well.
If you were to do more Pink Floyd, I would suggest “The Great Gig in the Sky” (studio version). It is mainly a female vocalist (Clare Torry) hired by the band who sings without using words. Through just the powerful feelings she conveys with her voice, the stages of dying can be understood. Denial, Acceptance, and the Final moments basically. A beautiful song, especially when you understand it’s meaning before you listen to it!

Very interesting reaction from the Trybals team!. As someone who lives with mental health issues this song calms the storm in my head when it arrives! Thank you for showing this masterpiece to the reactors!. Much love 🤘
The song is expressing so much beauty too - like "this is so beautiful, and I wish you could be here to see it and be part of it" so there are layers of emotion expressed. It's bittersweet. A very different tone than hurt, since one is about a man destitute and this is about a man who has gained everything but misses his friend. ❤
"Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts" As I get older, that lyric comes back to me often. Yes, they did get me to trade my heroes for ghosts. So many that I grew up on and with are now gone, more every day it seems. I know life is a zero sum game, but it never, ever gets any easier. I just get number to it, I think. Comfortably Numb perhaps.
I get it, though "Comfortably Numb" reminds me of some events of my childhood and hurts that way. But now, "Time" really gets to me, 'no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.'
The lyric that has always got to me in this song is "did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage." The lyrics for the whole song are fantastic but there has always been something about that particular line that has always been the spinal cord of the song for me.
You did a good job explaining the main topics in the song. It is not always easy, as there are differences in culture and interpreting meaning as well as emotion. To these gentlemen, sadness needs more loud voices and chest beating, while in some Western cultures, immense sadness is expressed very subtly. Also, it was about the feelings of a man toward a fellow man, so less emotion might be expected.
Reading these comments and remembering various PF lyrics in other albums, I'm thinking about that one reference to quiet desperation being the English way in "Breathe." Quiet desperation is just what I hear when I listen to Gilmour sing "Wish You Were Here." He's sad in his remembering his friend, but he's reserved in his emotions.
One thing I would have said to clarify is that this song is about when the pain of losing someone is not fresh and immediate. It is pain that one has learnt to live with, the quiet grief that stays with you always. That you feel when you are unexpectedly reminded of the person by sight, scent, or sound.
@@subg8858 I don't find it coldly performed at all. Those words sung quietly, flavored by ancient grief and anger, the taste of regret and wondering if things could have been different had you tried harder.
Thank you so much for this! You are all so thoughtful and kind. God has blessed us with your videos. Your perspectives brought new light to an old song for me. It was beautiful.
I'd love to see or hear something from their (Tribal) culture that would be considered valuable, beautiful, folky, very dear to them and let us send our comments, let us react to it. Perhaps each could chose something to show us, a prayer, a song, a story, a painting.... etc
Oh, this song. Tears forming in my eyes as the first few verses are sung. I had hoped this would be the album version, but, it’s this one was just as good. This song is powerful to me. Always has been. Now, that my best friends dad, Mike, has passed away last year… it means even more. He was a huge Pink Floyd fan and would have LOVED to see this video. Thank you so much for each of y’all’s hard work. Love you all very much. 🖤💖
Comparing Cash and Pink Floyd is interesting. While both songs are connected to addiction and loss they are both from two very opposite perspectives. While David Gilmour was sharing his feelings of losing a friend many years ago Johnny Cash was sharing his feelings of regret for those he had personally harmed including himself. Both have been on my list of top 50 for years, including NINs version of hurt. It really pained me for Parvarti to miss an introduction to Pink Floyd, I hope you will be able to right that wrong. Wish You Were Here has always reminded me how all of us have had to make choices alone and as a society and many of those choices we may never get to change or make again. Connected more than ever, Peace/JT
💗💗Pink Floyd is truly unmatched in music. I love this song but I was really hoping they'd get to hear/see Comfortably Numb with it's epic guitar solo and light show. Maybe have them compare David Gilmour's playing in this video against that in Comfortably Numb. Regardless, I'm really glad they've gotten to see at least a little Pink Floyd. 💗💗
Personally, I also wish I could have played it. But you if you see, I try to introduce new music to them based on the previous one. This is on the same topic but with a whole new perspective. Comfortably numb is still on the list 🤗❤️🌷
@@TRYBALS Please do "shine on you crazy diamond". It's my favorite and I am a musician who thinks this is one of the best ever made. Here is the link; ua-cam.com/video/CiXNIjGX1hY/v-deo.html Please sir, their reaction to the saxophone at the end would be amazing, their reaction to the live setting would be interesting as well. This song also has lights and stuff as well, best to watch it in a dim room. (I would say dark room, but you have to film them, you can't do that in the dark). Thank you for your consideration, great work as always! You are on the path to a million subs. Or more... :)
@@TRYBALS There are two more good addiction songs I can think of about addiction. She Talks To Angels, and How To Save A Life. Kris Kristofferson also wrote a popular song about Johnny Cash’s addiction.
Thank you for the pick-me-up in the middle of a rough day, loved the video and song choice. Lots of love from our family to yours!❤️ (ps please pet the kitties for us)
This song always evokes the deepest emotions. So glad you shared this masterpiece with our wonderful participants. You do a wonderful job researching the song and explaining the intricacies. Thank you all for your channel, it brings joy in a world gone mad.
I have thoroughly enjoyed each video TRYBALS has put out. Adnan, your ability to bring people to real experiences and emotions never fails. Thank you. 😊
I love this. The simplicity with which these people think is beautiful. Once again teaching us that no matter what we are all human and emotionally we are one.
Yet another great reaction! I am going to be very brief today. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your channel and how much I enjoy every one of you. As I said before...I do not have any family and everytime I watch you channel, it's like coming home to friends and family. Much blessings and peace to you all. I wish upon one day we could meet...
Hey Esther, I remember you saying same on another video. And I'd like to remind you that we are like a family indeed. Lots of love, looking forward to meet you and everyone else someday hopefully 🤗🤗🤗
Agreed! It's almost like sitting down for a chat and catching up. There are a couple channels I watch that give me that vibe and I never miss a vid. When I was younger I had friends I could talk to about anything for hours... I don't have that any more so this channel in particular or special to me for that reason.
Absolutely love this! Pink Floyd is my favorite band. I’m so grateful I stumbled across the channel yesterday and met some new friends here. You are all lovely people and I am also learning things from you. I can’t wait to see what else we will discover together!
I've watched a few of your videos and I'm always amazed at the insight that comes from the tribal people. For example, one gentleman mentioned something to the effect of "You get what you choose". Simple yet profound. I would love to meet and listen to them :) Please tell them how much I appreciate their insights and wisdom.
I would love to spend the day just listening to Abdul talking. He has a lot of very wise insights. He reminds me of a friend's father from Karachi who passed away last month.
This song always gives me goosebumps and makes the hair on my arms stand up. I've shed a lot of tears because of this song! Pink Floyd has caused me to shed enough tears to fill an Olympic swiming pool.
This is an amazing channel. Screw politics and media, this is real. It restores faith in humanity, something I think we all need right now. Thanks from Canada.
I love this channel. You do such a great job picking just the perfect song for the TRYBALS to listen to. You play some music that I would probably never listen to if it weren't for this channel, so I guess I'm l learning to. I love the reactions you get from these kind people.. they seem to have such insight... You do such a wonderful job. Thanks
Amazing song. For years it was used to test the performances of sound systems and speakers - the studio version had the highest quality and range between bass and twitters... Still to this day, one of the most amazing and still used for calibration. Try this at home - find a good version - then when you play it, try to arrange your settings so you can hear the very beginning of the 1st guitar arrangement without having bass and twitters getting crushed later. It is extremely hard because this is one of the softest and sensitive start. If you manage this, congratulations, your system is on point.
As usual, I have a new appreciation of a song Ive heard many times. This was a great choice. I love all of the fellows, and the modest person behind the camera is fantastic
The power of music, one of only a few universal languages. Whatever age, gender, culture, religion or race you are, no one will never dislike Pink Floyd, music that is capable of reaching every corner of our planet. Sounds like no other, never to be topped. Long live Pink Floyd, best band of all time. Love from the UK 🇬🇧
Watching these videos has caused me much joy here lately. What beautiful people. I love their wisdom & the way that they think & respond. Thanks for making these.
this is a painful song for me to listen to. my best friend, of well over 40 years (we shared a birthday, one year apart) died from a cocaine induced heart attack. i had no idea he was using or i would have intervened. he passed 10 years ago this coming August... Ron, i wish you were here. i miss you terribly
My favorite band. Two of my fav songs, this one and shine on, both deal with Syd and the pain they feel watching his schizophrenia and drug addiction. Watching their reaction was beautiful. Thank you for this gift
Greatings my friend's. I was very happy with the comments of this gentlemans in their simple and genuine words. So quickly understood the meaning of the song and the feeling of the music. Their interpretation and comments are certainly the best one's I ever heard. Congratulations from Europe, Portugal. Keep doing it. Obrigado
now it's time for "The Great Gig In The Sky". there are very little lyrics to translate, but it is still (in my own personal opinion) one of the most emotionally powerful songs ever made.
An amazing song and a huge part of music history. The studio version had one of the highest quality of recording ever. It was the absolute best for more than a decade and was used by professional for performance benchmark for sound systems and speakers. Try this at home: find a good studio version. Try settings that allows you to hear the very first guitar chords and see if your sound system can perform them while being able to play the rest of the song without hurting the speakers. The start of the song is one of the most gentle ever recorded and it is a great technical performance. If you manage to bring it out, congratulations : you performed a calibration and your sound system is on point.
Very interesting reactions! For me this song will always be associated with the funeral of my dad's cousin who was also my teacher when I was a child, and I'm a rather quiet griever as well... I'm screaming inside, but not on the outside... Looking forward to the other song you mentioned! On that note - I'd be very interested to see reactions to Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart". She's an amazingly talented singer with a unique voice and the style of the song, Wagnerian Rock, is also one of a kind.
I love this channel! I have never been disappointed by the reactions of the participants. I feel I get true and honest reactions from all that are willing to witness something new. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!
Great song choice! Really hard to interpret accurately as pink floyd use so much metaphor and phrases with two or more meanings (and each meaning matters). This song is particularly dense with these, so you've done really well. 😊
Whenever I had heard this song it was not only grief but also of longing for a loved one that was lost/gone. The best way I can describe it is like a longing from the heart but it isn’t screamed out into the world, but more of a whisper in the heart. Not sure if that totally made sense, but that is how I always interpreted it.
I have friendly respect for all members of the Trybals team. In spite of our cultural and experience differences, we are all walking on the road of life together..
The next songs from Pink Floyd should be from Dark Side of the Moon. That album is so intense and chilling. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful rock albums ever written. The Wall is fun, but Dark Side is where it's at. I don't know that Syd's problem was addiction, so much as latent mental health issues that the drugs made worse. But the two can look the same, and sometimes it's both
They liked Johnny Cash so much you should do "The man in Black". Dolly Parton is also a great story teller song writer. For her I would recommend "Coat of Many Colars". I was VERY happy to see the reaction to "Zombie" by the Cranberries, one of my most desired! I sometimes like to think you did it just for me! :)
I love the direction this channel is going. These men are so wise and your passion in the arts really radiates off of them. Keep it up with the rock classics, the way you're dissecting the verses and explain the emotion is just 😚👌🏽 *chef's kiss*
Another amazingly well written song is Vincent by Don McLean, it's about Vincent van Gogh and his suicide and those who feel like they're not understood or cared for: ua-cam.com/video/4wrNFDxCRzU/v-deo.html
Another artist I listen to once referred to this. "Vincent van Gogh why do you weep, you were on the way to heaven but he road was steep. And who was there to break your fall? We're guilty, one and all"
The difference in tone was Johnny Cash was expressing sorrow, a painful sorrow, while Pink Floyd was more of a melancholy, like they had given in to what happened and accepted it. That's how it makes me feel, anyway. Also, I don't think I have ever heard a singer who was able to wring emotions, either sorrow or joy, out of me like Johnny Cash. He wasn't particularly talented as a singer, guitarist, or song writer, but he seemed to pour his soul into every performance. That made him one of the greats.
This is a really clever video! I'm so glad I watched this, it made me hear Pink Floyd through new ears and I truly appreciate what is being said here. I can't wait to go and see the 'Hurt' video now, and the one after this. Thanks again! Brilliant stuff!!
These videos always warm my heart. It is heartening to see humans so far from me, living so differently, are still touched by the same things that reach me. Distance, language, culture does not change how we are still all brothers and sisters. And Roger Gilmour is a master of the guitar. Bless you and all you 'co-hosts.'
Thanks so much for sharing. As always, it's a beautiful experience to see others' reactions to music that's so important to me. I'm really looking forward to the next music installment.
Love seeing people from olde cultures appreciating the ideas & sounds in some Western music! 64 years ago at the Carnegie Library in Pgh. i first heard the music of Arabia, India & Greece and was mesmerized, just fell in-love with what was (to me) "strange and foreign." And i never stopped listening to it. How wonderful that music can unite us, when other things fail!
I am so glad I found these videos today.. In a world that promotes fear of people who don't think the same or worship the same or look the same, this is a reminder that the things that make us the same far outweigh the things that make us differnt! And that the situations we face are the same no matter where in this world we are! I have watched several of your videos so far and will likely like most of them! Thank you for creating content that promotes understanding and gives me hope for a future where we all can just be ourselves and be accepted! Many blessings from Oklahoma USA
Wow another awesome music choice for the Trybal crew! Pink Floyd is one of my all time favorite musical bands. Saw them live once in '94 in Tampa, during their Pulse album tour. Also one of the few songs I can still play the solo to on Guitar.. Music to touch generations!
I'm from Sweden. I thankyou for theese videos, I've learned a lot from them. You are showing that there are more that unite us people from diffrent backgrounds than separates us. Please give my best regards to the lovely persons who are watching your videos.
Brilliant interpretation from an unlikely source. The sheer humanity and empathy of these people is moving. Mankind the world over seeks understanding and compassion.
My band is doing Pink Floyd songs including "Wish you were here" which I'm singing lead on. Such a great song and one of my favorites of the band. This is a meaningful song for me, and I appreciate your and the group's interpretations.
Thank you for these videos. I love how you present them and provide context for the songs. These videos show how universal music is. No matter where you live in the world or culture you're brought up in , music can connect us all and let us share in the emotions/feelings it brings etc...

Some valid observations there 👍
Reading these comments and remembering various PF lyrics in other albums, I'm thinking about that one reference to quiet desperation being the English way in "Breathe." Quiet desperation is just what I hear when I listen to Gilmour sing "Wish You Were Here." He's sad in his remembering his friend, but he's reserved in his emotions.
One thing I would have said to clarify is that this song is about when the pain of losing someone is not fresh and immediate. It is pain that one has learnt to live with, the quiet grief that stays with you always. That you feel when you are unexpectedly reminded of the person by sight, scent, or sound.
Yeah I don’t think that’s it. This is in fact very coldly performed music emotionally. They have appreciated more subtle music than this
@@subg8858 I don't find it coldly performed at all. Those words sung quietly, flavored by ancient grief and anger, the taste of regret and wondering if things could have been different had you tried harder.
It's beautiful to hear their impressions of these songs I've heard so many times. It makes them new again.
Thank you so much for this! You are all so thoughtful and kind. God has blessed us with your videos. Your perspectives brought new light to an old song for me. It was beautiful.
Another great song choice. The songs that are timeless cultural landmarks are the best to hear the team's opinions on.
I'd love to see or hear something from their (Tribal) culture that would be considered valuable, beautiful, folky, very dear to them and let us send our comments, let us react to it. Perhaps each could chose something to show us, a prayer, a song, a story, a painting.... etc
Igore that's a great idea! I was thinking the same thing. We could have a proper interaction like that. 😊
THIS! /\
Please Yes
Ustad Manzoor Ali Khan was mentioned in the Mongolian throat singing video. Good stuff
Gilmour
@@yodude9624 oops, not sure how i did that, Thank you.
@@TRYBALS you do a fantastic job. Excellent selections.
@@TRYBALS Please do "shine on you crazy diamond". It's my favorite and I am a musician who thinks this is one of the best ever made.
Here is the link;
ua-cam.com/video/CiXNIjGX1hY/v-deo.html Please sir, their reaction to the saxophone at the end would be amazing, their reaction to the live setting would be interesting as well.
You prefer that to the Shine on you guitar??
Thank you for the pick-me-up in the middle of a rough day, loved the video and song choice. Lots of love from our family to yours!❤️ (ps please pet the kitties for us)
Thank you once more for the beautiful content and the tears in my eyes.
This song always evokes the deepest emotions. So glad you shared this masterpiece with our wonderful participants. You do a wonderful job researching the song and explaining the intricacies. Thank you all for your channel, it brings joy in a world gone mad.
This is one of my top 3 favorite Pink Floyd songs. Good pick.
Please show them "time" by Pink Floyd.
I believe they will have a lot to say about it.
"Wish You were Here" is the best song ever written -- all genres.
Comfortably Numb is the best in my opinion . But all Floyd is awesome . Lol
Maybe..
This is #beautiful ❤❤❤
But then there are tons of a7x and dream theater songs better than that both emotionally and musically.
Excellent video, I’ve listened to that song for years and never knew the meaning, thanks for sharing.👏👏🙏🏿
They should react to 'Comfortably Numb' from the same concert (Pulse). They'll be amazed at the guitar sólo and light show.
This is beautiful. Thank you.
You guys are all awsome, Wisdom and authencity. Everyone of you
This is an amazing channel.
Pink Floyd has always been one of my favorite groups, ever since I first heard them. Love the content.
Also I love how you explain the lyrics and help them comprehend the message within the words. Keep up the good work!
this is a painful song for me to listen to. my best friend, of well over 40 years (we shared a birthday, one year apart) died from a cocaine induced heart attack. i had no idea he was using or i would have intervened. he passed 10 years ago this coming August...
Ron, i wish you were here. i miss you terribly
Sorry for your loss! I've never known Ron, but I too wish he was here, so you could have more than just good memories of him.
What a amazing experience .to watch these lovely people ❤️ ✌️
My favorite band. Two of my fav songs, this one and shine on, both deal with Syd and the pain they feel watching his schizophrenia and drug addiction. Watching their reaction was beautiful. Thank you for this gift
Wish you were here is not about syd barett, as stated many times by Pink Floyd in various interview
Makes me cry everytime.
I support this
nah
So cool to get other cultures of people to express their feelings and perspectives on a sing such as this, you truly captured it here and so beautiful
This is one of my all time favorite songs. Thank you for this video.
7.40 " you will receive what you choose " nailed it
The next songs from Pink Floyd should be from Dark Side of the Moon. That album is so intense and chilling. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful rock albums ever written. The Wall is fun, but Dark Side is where it's at.
I don't know that Syd's problem was addiction, so much as latent mental health issues that the drugs made worse. But the two can look the same, and sometimes it's both
It was LSD and he took way too much and his brain burned out.
@@stefanbach7652 I'm very familiar.
Never in my wildest dreams ... these guys reacting to Pink Floyd.
You have my utmost respect.
Always entertaining, thank you for the video!
Another great video and song choice. Show them Stevie Ray Vaughan please.
In case you didn't know Stevie had gotten over his addiction and alcohol but then died in a helicopter crash after a concert on a mountain tragically.
Thank you for your program, I see us more and more as one flesh 🇺🇸
good, humanizing the humans on the other side.
I love the direction this channel is going. These men are so wise and your passion in the arts really radiates off of them. Keep it up with the rock classics, the way you're dissecting the verses and explain the emotion is just 😚👌🏽 *chef's kiss*
Another amazingly well written song is Vincent by Don McLean, it's about Vincent van Gogh and his suicide and those who feel like they're not understood or cared for:
ua-cam.com/video/4wrNFDxCRzU/v-deo.html
Thank you for the link, and the memories. Another stellar tune!
Another artist I listen to once referred to this. "Vincent van Gogh why do you weep, you were on the way to heaven but he road was steep. And who was there to break your fall? We're guilty, one and all"
My favorite of all time bands to listen and sing with.
Music can bring us all together to live in peace ✌️❤
This is a really clever video! I'm so glad I watched this, it made me hear Pink Floyd through new ears and I truly appreciate what is being said here. I can't wait to go and see the 'Hurt' video now, and the one after this. Thanks again! Brilliant stuff!!
I love the lyrics that makes you think
and makes you be more alive
These videos always warm my heart. It is heartening to see humans so far from me, living so differently, are still touched by the same things that reach me. Distance, language, culture does not change how we are still all brothers and sisters. And Roger Gilmour is a master of the guitar. Bless you and all you 'co-hosts.'
Great choice, happy they liked it.
This is one of my all time favorite songs, certainly in the top 5 anyway. I look forward to watching the reactions in this video!
Please show them the entire Pulse show from the 90’s!!! I’m on a straight binge my friend, great job!!!
This is one of my favorite songs in the world! I am so happy they were able to hear it.
The uncles do a good job of music appreciation. I enjoyed seeing their thoughts.
Thanks so much for sharing. As always, it's a beautiful experience to see others' reactions to music that's so important to me. I'm really looking forward to the next music installment.
Excited for this one! Watching it now ❤️Pink Floyd ❤️🤘
How wonderful that music can unite us, when other things fail!
such interesting people, very open. maybe I can learn something.
Thank you for these videos, it's a treat to see both a vintage Pink Floyd and the reactions of these gentlemen. They catch the vibe of the song.
Fascinating! I love their reactions to the music chords and lyrics and love to these guy’s and their hats are awesome!
I really enjoyed how we listened and then you spoke of the song. Please do some other songs. I love watching the reactions on all of your faces, lovely. Bless you~
The perspectives that these wonderful people offer are very real, they don't come with the baggage of a modern consumer driven life. This is one of my new favorite YT channels.
