    You need to try an old satellite dish -- the improvement in range (when tracked properly) will astound you.

      Yes,,, I have one that managed 25 miles with only 50 milliwatts... it is impressive.. but the power output of only one watt really let me down because it is next to impossible to deal with floor noise..

    Thanks for the great video. It seems like DL can also be connected to the MFD crossbow mini head tracker via BlueTooth and to the Taranis via PPM using a regular receiver so that DL can be a stand-alone unit. Hoping you can teach all you can about this promising system.

      Hey, you might want to look at QCZEK LRS. A DIY long range system that derived from modifying Lora modules both on 433 and 868. I've use it for at least half a year and it's works nicely. Although it's not as powerful as Dragonlink, it does have limited telemetry capability and quite cheap too. At least you can use it as an entry level LRS system before jumping to the Dragonlink like I do :)

    Hey, you might try change the TX antenna for the first upgrade. The stock monopole antenna is great, but its not finely tuned for 433, its more like dual band 144/430 for ham radios and I've check the vswr is just terible. You might upgraded it to moxon or dipole antenna, or may even a yagi although it's quite overkill :D. And you might interested with EzWifiBroadcast/OpenHD for the video side, it's a diy digital video that offers long range capability.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, I am aware of the OpenHD project... though I haven't looked at it yet! Don't see a reason to change antennas yet... since my video range has no chance of pushing the DragonLink, at this time... but all in good time I hope! :)

    • @alphaadhito
      @alphaadhito 4 роки тому

      @@ArxangelRC Yep, OpenHD is a more mature version from EzWifi and have more features. Actually you can use FPV, telemetry and aircraft control via one single system/frequency on OpenHD (ie. no need for remote control), but i still use my 433 anyway for comfort :D. And yeah, stock antenna is more than sufficient, but just in case, lol

    DrsgonLink is a great system. But... there are a number of issues that I found. 1. I too have Bluetooth and I have never been able to get it to work. This leads me to point 2. 2. Yes, it is very easy to get the system running at its basic level. Trying something more complex is another matter. I find that the instructions are very lacking. The instructions are spread out in various places on the web site. The photos in the instructions do not match up with the receiver the instructions are about, and they just do not make sense. 3. They are always sold out of several components. 4. It seems to me that Mr. Bigalow is the only person behind DragonLink making all the people who buy the system dependant on only one person.
    I am really looking forward to your next video on the DragonLink.

    Or maybe just go with Team Black Sheep Crossfire. Cheaper and much more reliable. Better support and if you ask some questions you don't need to wait weeks for answers. And for warranty you don't need to send it to USA because it's much more popular at resellers. Also i did 22km on 10mW. But guessing this was a freebie.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 роки тому

      Being free or not is irrelevant to me in terms of the review! The review is objective either way and I state my personal opinion on the matter! Nobody is forcing you to buy anything... and your opinion does not invalidate the fact that system does perform quite well, for me and for a lot of other people. How good or bad the TBS system is does not, in any way, change how good or bad the DragonLink system is!

    • @madobox
      @madobox 4 роки тому +1

      @@ArxangelRC I would not say that. After your review of Crosswind 1.9 v1 where everyone had issue with the H-Stab and only you did say nothing is wrong with it. Probably this was also a freebie. Still Myflydream released new H-Stab and sent out for free to V1 owners. This means even the company accepted it that it has design flaw. From that i watch your reviews with pinch of salt. Back to Dragolink and Crossfire, i just wanted to show that maybe the DragonLink is great system and works flawlessly but you didn't mentioned any bad things about it. Like i said the price and warranty, and not to mention that almost every time it's out of stock. This company is a one man show. You need to be prepared for that.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 роки тому +1

      Well I have not experienced any issues with it so far, up until making the review... sooooo... would be hard to list any! Looking through the RCGroups thread on it, I can see Mike is active there and people are getting their warranty claims handled, and seem to be happy... plus I've never had a need for such... so again... can't comment on that! Furthermore, if something has a problem or not depends entirely on the way you use it! For the Crosswind plane... the problem with the H-stab manifested itself only when going a lot quicker than how I usually fly... so in fact I had not flown with the conditions that cause the problem until I made the review! More to the point... after people started complaining... I did a few test flights to verify the problem at higher speeds, and it was ME... talking to MFD and sending them videos of the issue, which consequently led to them releasing a new H-stab! Sadly... I was not able to do a video update on it because during those tests my Crosswind got lost! And on the topic of the "one man show"... perhaps I am a bit too used to getting stuff from China and knowing I am on my own if I have a problem... so I don't really think about warranties, etc., too used to DIY solving issues... because of China... it is just how this hobby is... sadly... and I guess I am just too used to it now and don't pay much attention to these things!

    My only concern with using DL 433mhz in USA is the FACT we have a lot of ham radio operators in my country especially in countryside where I fly and from what I’ve heard these frequencies are really close to what DL is using. I understand DL uses Frequency hopping but only so much hopping will help in high RF areas.

      I am a ham operator in a large metro area in the U.S. and 433MHz is very under-used here. Old hams will complain about everything, but ask them how often they actually use those frequencies. If they say they do and can show you their EME setup and you are still concerned, then get a Technician license, it's easy, and you will learn a few things. 433Mhz is very good for RC and worth it.

      I use it and it works very well. However, the receivers I'm using are from a Russian company and are a little higher quality than the stock receivers. It's a one-way system as well so a separate telemetry radio is needed if you want Mavlink telemetry. I just use and record the OSD data with those installations. Range is comparable. Good antennas is the key factor to good performance with any of these systems. 80km out is possible with even the cheap OpenLRS equipment if setup properly.

      @ArxangelRC  4 роки тому

      I did not have telemetry issues on R9... I just never bothered to try it... because my experience with FrSky and telemetry is that when it is operational... control range degrades a bit... and since telemetry is not exactly critical to me... I can easily omit it from the system so I can some extra kms of range at any given power level! That logic seems to be working quite well for me! Also, I am doing EVERYTHING that I can to stay away from FrSky telemetry and lua scripts... and have been quite good at that so far too! :P

Set the port on tracker to 115200 baudrate and s.port. you will need an sbus inverter either at your transmitter before the bluetooth. Or at your tracker after bluetooth before tracker. I dont remember if the s.port on the back of the r9 is already uninverted. I just got another r9 to test.

      Hahaha, the reason for the height is not the video... it is the return trip! Getting higher allows me to drain the battery more, because on the way back I can mostly glide... or keep the plane at a lower throttle setting, having all that altitude to help me get back... so in effect I can make it further out and drain the battery past the 50% mark... as I often do!

    pretty sure the dragon link on 433MHz is illegal without a HAM operator license. Also, video on 5.8GHz above ONE watt is illegal too. So this video is promoting illegal behavior. Can anyone prove me wrong? Cite your sources.
