  • Installing a lathe back plate for a 4 jaw chuck that I have had sitting around for at least a year now. I was able to use the Bison Super Indexer with this project to quickly and easily drill the new holes.
I did have some editing issues with this, but those will be rectified soon.

Nice Job. Waiting on a Lo adapter for a 10inch chuck now. Will be doing the same job soon.

Thanks, when I do it again, I'm going to rig up a vacuum to keep the dust and chip mess down. Good luck on yours!

I've watched a bunch of your videos this weekend. I have a SB 13x72 lathe that I use occasionally. It's nice to see someone using a Heavy 10, which is similar to the 13. I hope you can fix the music which in some cases, makes it difficult for me to hear you. Keep up the good work!

Thanks. I just got a new computer, so that issue will be no more. I have my 13X40" SB sitting out in my garage. I don't use it much but I fired it up yesterday and even though I've had it for a while, I'm still amazed at how smooth mine runs! I think mine led a pretty easy life though! I end up doing quite a few videos about these lathes, so thanks for watching!

Usually you can machine iron without any oil, its just horrible messy stuff to do. Lots of dusty grit comes out of it instead of chips. Loads of graphite in it though, so its basically self-lubricating. I turned some iron wheels for the conveyor system at work and I think I spent more time with the vacuum than I did actually running the machine.

I didn't use any oil. Just used the brush to keep dust down and the chips from flying everywhere. Next best thing to a vacuum running the whole time. Most of the chips fell in a nice pile.

Great Video, thanks. Of course being a GREAT Machinist you know that's a Vernier Caliper in your hand not a "Micrometer" right :-)

Nice vid but we come here to learn not be entertained with noise. If I want music I’ll turn on the radio. Please drop the terrible music it’s distracting and takes away from your message. Thanks
