It's honestly bewildering, because an LGBT persons right to marry has no effect on anyone else, except the person they're marrying! It shouldn't be considered a right or a freedom to infringe on anyone else's rights or freedom, just because you don't happen to agree with it.

If there are no laws protecting people from getting fired because of their sexual orientation, does that mean I can fire someone for being heterosexual?
You guys are terrified by the idea of someone being fired for being heterosexual right? Isn't it shocking? Well, for the LGBT community though, this is real and we don't feel that amout of shock. Most people actually support it, but I would like to see if they would be okay with being fired because they're heterosexual. I would LOVE to see this.

Just saying: people are listening to one specific line in the bible saying “a traditional marriage is with a man and a woman”, but are forgetting the rest of the bible where is says to love and respect each other.

Yep, and also the first amendment completely denies the use of religion to create laws. So any laws based on solely religious values have no place in the law
+pqxxedf I'm a bit confused about what exactly you are arguing here. Reproduction has nothing to do with marriage, you can fuck anyone you want any time you want if the person is over 18 and willing, so procreation has nothing to do with marriage at all. As far as love goes? Plenty of heterosexuals are married and hate their relationship, often times heterosexual couples don't have children as well, so are they as useless as gay marriages? Should a marriage be required to show results (children) within X number of years or be revoked? Marriage is about paperwork, that's what it boils down to. Gay marriage is about the right to have your GAY SPOUSE visit you in the hospital after a car accident, to decide if the life support should be pulled, to decide who gets the house after the one spouse is dead, to decide if one or the other's insurance will cover the other spouse. Before you say something completely false about spousal insurance coverage for heterosexuals, just remember the couples who don't have kids. Do they get coverage? And if so, WHY? According to you they shouldn't.

A valid point in the gay wedding case was missed. They placed the order months prior, the company agreed, took their deposit, then on THE day of delivery, decided that they couldn’t. The case garnered a lot of media attention focusing on the lesbian couple and the religious freedom rights of the business owner. But that wasn’t the issue. Reese Garcia I think what the person meant to say is that they don't care if they are gay, that they are just like any other human being, that they aren't something to be pushed away and look down upon, you are still a friend no matter what, my little "big" cousin (since he's 6'"1) is gay and I told him that I don't care if you are gay, he was relieved by that since he is afraid to tell his parents (he's 22 and I'm a 25 year old woman), he knows I'm not gonna go batshit crazy over it, that I accept him in whatever way. My thoughts on this though.

@@curranfrank2854 that's not the point. And that's not what democracy is. If 'the lesser of two evils' is the best this so called representative democracy (oxymoron BTW) has to offer then what is the point in voting? Biden is better than Trump. Of course he is. But he's still a massive piece of shit AND part of the reason things got so bad. He was VP for 8 years under Obama. Trump won in the first place because of the Democrats' corruption, betrayal and selling out to corporations. I would never vote for Trump. But I damn sure would not EVER vote for a Democrat either. They are hypocrites, liars, traitors and sell outs. They literally admitted to rigging elections. In court! You want to give those people your trust And your vote? Who is morally bankrupt, then? Trump is not the problem. He is an opportunist. He is a symptom. Be as it may, you are free, my friend, to think of people like me whatever you want. I don't preach to people anymore (says the man who just did just that) and I don't judge. Just stay safe and don't lower your standards when it comes to your country and the world. Peace
*Rights and freedoms*. While they have become one phrase, there's actually a difference between them. To make it simple, there's an old law that goes like this: *"Do what thou wilt, but harm none."* In other words, you have the *freedom* to do whatever you want, as long as you *do not harm the rights of others*. To put this more bluntly, *EVERYONE ELSE'S RIGHTS come before your freedoms*. You have rights too, yes, but "your freedom ends at the tip of my nose."
"But freedom defined is freedom denied!" Yes. Yes it is. In order to have any kind of order in society, we must restrict the freedom to stab random people in the spine while they're not looking. That's what laws are for. Granted, not all laws are just, but rights over freedoms is a step in the right direction. Personal freedoms over human rights... that's a "yuge" step back.
Brandon , yes it is. By nature, you're taking away a service from someone. Service works in the regard that service is provided. Service is not a treat, or a complimentary privilege, like peanuts on an airline. Service is the *completely reasonable* expectation that the steward will deliver the in-flight lunch that you'd already paid for, and not deprive you of it. A lack of service is translated as deprivation. I work in retail, and if I just refused service to every customer I had seen left a mess where it was already tidy, I would soon out be on my keister, because my job is to attend to these people and their needs, regardless of what I feel about serving them.
"There is a way which seemeth right to a man, but in the end thereof are the ways to death.". (Proverbs 14:12). And why would that be? "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish is foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent!" (1 Corinthians 1:18-19). Homosexuals, I must alert you to that sin. You must turn from it or you will judged by God. His Law demands it. Don't you care? Don't you understand Romans 3:20? "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin." What does the Law of God say on homosexuality?
I love the gay lifestyle. Fearing for my life because of something I can't control. My parents threatening to kick my out if we ever come out to them. Gotta live the gay lifestyle.
I can't even imagine what that must be like. My family were initially against the gay thing (they came around eventually), but they never stopped loving me. My ❤ goes out to you.
John Oliver is a snake in the grass so its "discrimination" now to not attend a gay wedding for religious or social reasons (or whatever)? So now in order to prove ourselves as being "not discriminatory" our hand is "forced" essentially and we MUST attend a gay wedding even if we have moral or social objections to it, in order to prove we are not "homophobic bigots"? Makes perfect sense . Also..just so we are perfectly clear The definition of discrimination : the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. So is it "unjust" to not want to attend a Gay wedding?...……..what is say, for example, a Satanic organisation wanted to perform a Satanic marriage ceremony and they invited a Christian who rejected their invite on religious grounds...is it "unjust" and discriminatory for the Christian to decline their invite?...is it "unfair"?..is the Christian a "bigot" for not wanting to attend the ceremony? And lets flip the argument for a second...…..lets say a Christian couple were baptising their child or were having a Christian ceremony wedding and they invited a "gay couple" to the wedding , and this gay couple rejected their invite (for whatever reason...maybe they saw it as a provocation or something). Is it "discriminatory" for the gay couple to turn down the invite to a Christian ceremony? Can you see why many people still have problems with the toxic nature of the left and LGBT community?...…..they have gained ground, power and influence...and its STILL NOT ENOUGH for them The LGBT and Left claim to be about justice and they claim to be "oppressed victims"....but in some cases they are the biggest bullies, hypocrites and bigots around!
+studmalexy - Nice strawman. Here's the problem: Nobody's forcing you. The only question is, "Would you refuse to go to a wedding simply and specifically because the couple getting married, were gay?" If you answer "yes", then you have a problem with gay people and that is sad and embarrassing. For you. If you answer "no", you still have every right not to go to the wedding as you would with any other couple; for social reasons, personal reasons, due to circumstances, whatever. So you have no leg to stand on with that moronic victim-blaming argument of yours; people like you who act the victim when you're told you're not allowed to persecute someone? You *do not* have a constitutional right to persecute other people, whether due to their sexuality, gender nor race. Nor is this a human or religious right. It is prejudice-based harassment, likely rooted either in your own closeted frustration or your desire to make someone feel worse than you do to convince yourself (falsely) that you feel pretty okay, and it's also *not* something a decent, dignified, caring, peaceful or intelligent person does, so... how 'bout you just stop it, 'kay?
***** It's a really tricky situation. You can't write a law that says "you may be fired if you're not pro equality for women, people of colour, LGBTQIA" etc. The idea is that while we all have our beliefs, we must behave respectfully in public. So if a couple walks into a restaurant and starts making comments about gay people, the server may say "sir, ma'am, you are making people here uncomfortable with your comments. If you continue to disturb other customers, we may ask you to leave". At least that's what I hope for. It's called "poisoning the environment", you can lose your job for doing such a thing.
***** You had a good start, but then destroyed it with your second phrase. Do not harm people that disagree with you. Good. No need to accept their views, but if you provide a service, you provide it to everyone unless prohibited by law, such as selling cigaretes, alchool and such.

facts not myth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! Sexual orientation is determined in the womb during fetus development. Various hormones are introduced at specific times to accomplish this .The fetus plays no part in this process. A person is, therefore, born with a predetermined attraction. It is, therefore, not a choice & consequently not a sin & not immoral. It is a natural expression of our species & found commonplace in nature. Intelligent research in this area clearly explains this process. If you want to understand the truth & have respect for yourself & others, that you are entitled to, this book will help.

The business had months to cancel the order for any reason, there are no laws stating that a business must serve you, save emergency medical care. The case was won on the contract issue, order placed, deposit received, contract not honored, verdict in favor of the customer. 😎

*Rights and freedoms*. While they have become one phrase, there's actually a difference between them. To make it simple, there's an old law that goes like this:
*"Do what thou wilt, but harm none."*
In other words, you have the *freedom* to do whatever you want, as long as you *do not harm the rights of others*.
To put this more bluntly, *EVERYONE ELSE'S RIGHTS come before your freedoms*.
You have rights too, yes, but "your freedom ends at the tip of my nose."
"But freedom defined is freedom denied!"
Yes. Yes it is. In order to have any kind of order in society, we must restrict the freedom to stab random people in the spine while they're not looking. That's what laws are for. Granted, not all laws are just, but rights over freedoms is a step in the right direction. Personal freedoms over human rights... that's a "yuge" step back.
John Bainbridge
Goddam, that was brilliant. Very well said, brother.
refusing service is not harming someone.

Hey no problem.
John Oliver is a snake in the grass
so its "discrimination" now to not attend a gay wedding for religious or social reasons (or whatever)?
So now in order to prove ourselves as being "not discriminatory" our hand is "forced" essentially and we MUST attend a gay wedding even if we have moral or social objections to it, in order to prove we are not "homophobic bigots"?
Makes perfect sense .
Also..just so we are perfectly clear
The definition of discrimination : the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex.
Can you see why many people still have problems with the toxic nature of the left and LGBT community?...…..they have gained ground, power and influence...and its STILL NOT ENOUGH for them
The LGBT and Left claim to be about justice and they claim to be "oppressed victims"....but in some cases they are the biggest bullies, hypocrites and bigots around!

You most definitely missed the point....
Yes that's the big issue here
Can we discriminate against intolerant people?
***** No, because they are a protected class, apparently.
"Intolerance will not be tolerated"
***** You had a good start, but then destroyed it with your second phrase. Do not harm people that disagree with you. Good. No need to accept their views, but if you provide a service, you provide it to everyone unless prohibited by law, such as selling cigaretes, alchool and such.
Eye for an eye makes the whole world blind applicable in any context.

I need a sign for my door that says: "You must be at least this gay to enter the house."
facts not myth If you are gay or know someone who is, this is important information! If you are truly interested in truth, based on knowledge, the book Gay, Straight & the Reason Why by Dr. Simon Levay shows this with numerous research articles. If you want to understand the truth & have respect for yourself & others, that you are entitled to, this book will help. It also has, unlike the bible written over 2000 years ago by men that had no understanding of science, an extensive bibliography. I strongly recommend the book. The public must be exposed to facts & knowledge. It is an obligation for those who know the truth & must defend it. Don’t let the religious pull you down to their level of ignorance. Peace
But, what are the conditions on the sign?? BTW: Don't be so lazy - make one.
