    Dude... It is actually extremely rare to find a modeling tutorial in realtime.. Most modeling tutorials speed up x3 during the modeling process itself, making it really hard to learn.. You video here is absolutely phenomenal! Subscribed!!

      Thank you so much! I do speed up where it gets redundant and no longer contributes to learning anything new, so you will see it here and there, but realtime learning was what I was going for. Good luck!

    If you press g twice you move along the line. If your vertex is on a line, press g twice, move the vertex, then press "alt" This allows you to move the vertex along the same line, past the original line. helpful as well. Subscribed to Patreon. well worth it. Thank you very much for these tutorials!

    Let me explain just how much you are about to help me with blender. The first time I ever tried to model in blender I would start with the cube, subdivide it a few times, and then go straight into modelling mode and turn on dynamic topography and go to town with sculpting. I would end up with 50000000x different triangles or faces. It would easily get to the point the program would severely lag on my crappy laptop after roughly 10 minutes tweaking a face.
    With your method I'd be able to use blender properly on this laptop, and I'd be able to actually do models with proper looking faces.
    You have no idea how helpful this tutorial actually is for me. I'm literally redownloading blender to try and follow along as we speak.

      @TomCAT_Character_Art  3 роки тому

      Hi Brandon! I am so excited that this tutorial is helping you! This method is more.. well, methodological than sculpting, but if you can get into it, you don't need to deal with mega meshes or retopology! Thank you so much for letting me know. It really makes these tutorials rewarding to me.

    Hi TomCat, your tutorial is really fantastic, clear and without disturbing music to follow. This is fantastic that you took the time to make your tutorial in real time and not in timelapse like too many other that are almost impossible to follow. It will helps me a lot to work in the right direction with good topology because we know that topology is really important if we want to animate a character at the end. Thank you so much. • @zackakai5173
      @zackakai5173 2 роки тому

      Topology is critical when you're doing organic shapes (at least if you're planning to use them as anything other than a static mesh), and it kills me that so many Blender tutorials in particular nowadays teach newbies to start with all that stuff and skip right over learning basic topology skills. If you really want to be a great 3D artist, *definitely* take the time out to brush up on your basic theory when it comes to stuff like edge loop flow, the importance of quads and where it's acceptable to use triangles/n-gons, 3 and 5-poles, etc.

    Subscribed asap. I'd like to follow along this whole tutorial early. Seems really useful, I'd like to watch more character tutorials like this. It's the best since you make step by step in real time

    Thank you so much. I would love to see this continued with creating a texture map and using materials. That is something that seems to be hard to find. Great video.

      UVing, texturing and creating high rez normals will be included somewhere along the line. I will go through all the modeling: body, hair, eye lashes, eyebrows and clothing first. **woah that's going to be a lot of videos. What did I get myself into?**

    Its 2.5 hours. If you hit "Share" and then click the "Start at 00:00" . You can make bookmarks to places in the video that you might want to reference later. Or. Where you last left off. Just copy the link somewhere. I found it helpful. Oh. And. Screenshots. I appreciate the pacing and there's almost no dead time or mistakes just a really good flow. Thanks.

      THanks Kenzie, I do a lot of post editing to cut out the dead time. And yes, saving bookmarks is very helpful!

    Awesome tutorial! I'm new to 3D modeling and this video really helps me grasp what is all about. I'm still struggling with those loops that help keeping clean topology (to do it as good as you did), because I'm messing with the mask a little too much every single time, but I'll get there someday 😂

    The other day I was looking for a photo editing/animating program to install on my new laptop. Because I didn't want to keep editing pictures on my phone. And I ended up finding blender.
    I thought it was to edit, but it wasn't. But I still decided to keep it. But I have no idea how to use. So I've been watching tutorials. Some are just how to make shapes.
    But then I came across this video of yours, and finally was able to see how to make something like this and not just shapes and how to color them.
    Though the other tutorials were helpful with the basic. This video feel will really help more in how to use it more.

    Thank you so much for this! A lot of the tutorials that I watch are sped up 200 times and I have to play the video on 0.25 speed to see what they are clicking. As someone who is very new in blender, and has only managed to make a donut and a coffee cup before, this is really really great! You are very clear in your explanation and it's good to follow! I would like to know more about the ''why's'' but since this tutorial is already super long I understand why you wouldn't spend a lot of time on it. I can't wait to see your other videos!
