Why is finding a decent tablet so freaking stressful ahhhhh
Lol i know right 😁😅
THIS IS SOOO TRUE
@@gachapotter7103 haha and its so confusing when tablets have different reviews from a ton of websites
Yes I have watched aloooot of videos reviews and I am still stuck between Huion Kamvas pro 16 and Xp-Pen Artist pro 15.6. I am really confused!
If anyone's still looking for a good first graphics tablet without a screen I ended up getting a Huion HS610 for £60. When i bought it it had some conflicting reviews but It's a really good tablet and worth checking out.
I love your work and your stream! I draw for the fun of it all, and even at 62,, learn something new every day! I have been re-inspired by your work and I am now returning to drawing comic and manga once again. Thank You Mike!

YESSS!! I’m so ready for this 😍
I've had an Intuos 3 for years and I want to move to having a screen but wanted a broad idea of brands and tablets in regards to the current market. This has been THE video I've wanted you to make for around a year. Thankyou dude!
Why are you drawing pretty girls, I can't concentrate on what you're saying

just a piece of advice for everyone, I bought my first Drawing Tablet, XP-PEN Artist Pro 15.6 from one of XP-Pen's online stores, the warranty is 1 year, it was my first year of drawing (it's been a year) I haven't used this tablet much, if I were to say maybe half a year or less of full use, I did had to replace my screen protector once, twice now(if it didn't break) due to it easily being scratched by the pen, I replaced my nimbus only 3 times I had like 3-4-5 more pen nimbus left and guess what my tablet is broken, XP-Pen don't have a brand in my country so there's no place for me to go to get it fixed... my warranty has also expired so I contacted the store I bought it from, also emailed them in their official website I explained the problem in detail with pictures and videos, they assumed it was a hardware problem which I believe so, they straight up told me to buy a new one, it took us more than 5 exchange emails to say why they're making me buy a new one, they said that the shipping of this from my country to them would cost so much that it'd be better to just buy a new one, they didn't even explain why they thought it was a hardware problem and what had possibly caused it, i explained to them in detail so they could tell me what's up but no they only kept telling me to buy a new one. very terrible service and it felt like this was made to break after one year of use after your warranty has expired they did gave me a voucher so if I wanted to buy another of their Artist Pro 15.6 but nah I'm so done. I don't want terrible service and I believe this type of devices need 2 years of warranty.. just a reminder, no I take care of my tablet well, it still looks brand new, I haven't used it much but it broke if I actually did used this a lot i believe this would have broken sooner than later...
so if you want a graphic tablet like this, take into consideration their customer service, warranty, etc, make sure if something goes wrong you can get it fixed
Love your art man, really awesome stuff. Very interesting video on tablets, and I totally get the cost versus return thing. I have had tablets for decades, for one reason or another. Then one day a second hand Wacom 270HD Cintiq popped up very locally online. These things don't appear second hand at all, in my experience, certainly not where I live; so, since I had extra funds back then I bought it. Since I am an engineer and artist, and use all kinds of 3d and 2d software, I use it quite a bit; it also works as an extra monitor. I bought it with the extra stand and an extra pen as well, and it was in A1 condition. It will last me for the rest of my life probably, so worth it over the long term. That was back a few years now but I do absolutely love using it. Only down side, really friggin heavy! Anyway, keep up the great work.
I'm upgrading from a Monoprice 10 x 6.25 inch non-screen tablet to a Huion 20 with screen tablet. I'm so excited. It will be here this weekend.
Jan.10th Was my son's birthday got him a hp640 for his beginner tablet. Because I trusted your review. Next I'll be getting the Deco 03!

Great review. Pro tip: Map zoom in/out to the buttons on your pen! I know the urge is to have right click on your pen but your going to use your zoom far more than your right click in most drawing apps and having it right at your finger tips on your drawing hand is super convenient. The only other settings I would recommend mapping to the pen is adjusting the brush size but for the most part you're going to control this with pen pressure so zoom is still my top pick for my workflow.
thank you so much, I've been struggling with finding a drawing tablet that's affordable and good quality. I've watched review after review and your video is the only one that lead me to my decision.
Who is watch this and is also broke 😂😂

What many people don't consider is the quality of customer service. I rang both Wacom, Australia, and Huion today. Firstly, on my call to Huion, just to ask questions about the Kamvas Pro 20, a lady answered and said, in answer to my question she'd transfer my call to the right person. A gentleman comes on the line with an accent so thick I couldn't quite understand him--and judging by his requests to repeat what I'd just said, he couldn't understand me. I asked for someone who could speak English. Back on the phone comes the original lady who must have been standing/sitting somewhere close by. She then repeated my questions to the gentleman with the accent and then gave me back unhelpful replies. Even their website is a bit hopeless. They offer a few older model drawing tablets for sale, but most of them were listed as being out of stock. I think the cost of customer service isn't factored into their price because they virtually have none.
Wacom, on the other hand, were phenomenal. They almost did too much. The phone was answered by this razor sharp guy who knew everything about the products and had answers even before I asked questions. And talk about polite and gracious. At the end of the call, there was an over-the-telephone survey to ensure that I was completely satisfied.
Given the difference in prices, I was leaning towards the Huion Kamvas 20 Pro. But after my experience today, I'm not so sure. I was hoping for a big screen, but perhaps I should stick to the Wacom Cintiq16. Can't make up my mind.
WELL DONE REVIEW. AWESOME JOB. I AM NEW TO DIGITAL ART. (71 YEARS OLD) LOOKING AT A HUION KAMVAS 22 PLUS. $500. maxing my pocket. today is 8-13-23. By the way you do very nice art work. Thanks for the info, God bless.
Really hoping to replace my old tablet!
Thanks Mikey! I'm really thinking on buying a Tablet with screen and this guide helps a lot! Also, I have to say that I improved my art style watching your tutorials! Keep it up! Cheers
Hi, I'm a junior designer and have been drawing with Intuos for over a decade. Graphic tablet doesn't satisfy my needs since I've noticed that I still do the sketching with pencil on paper and scan it for digital artwork. The focus is on concept sketching, textbook illustration and hobby art.
My question is: would you recommend buying a intermediate pen display or continuing with graphic tablet.
After surfing on the internet for a while - Wacom Cintiq 16 DTK-1660 and Huion GT-156HD V2 have been the most intriguing options if I were to choose a tablet. Wacom would cost 600€ and Huion 530€ in my country. What should I do?
I was actually looking for one of these, and have only been subbed for 3 days lol
also I really love that angel you drew at the end there
A great, honest review! Some excellent guidelines, individual viewpoints here! You're not pushing any individual brand, not even Wacom. Thanks for this!
Hey Mikey! Thanks for sharing your tablet experience. After getting a Huion Q11K at the beginning of the year I was really impressed that it turned out to be just as good if not better than a Wacom Intous tablet I had previously. So impressed I decided to move up to purchasing one of Huion's drawing monitors and unfortunately, it's just been one train wreck after the next. Starting with Huion GT-220 V2 then XP-Pen Artist 16 Pro, recently Huion Pro 13, Pro 12 and lastly a Huion Q11K V2. All had such debilitating issues that for the time, energy and money spent on these tablets it has changed my mindset that even though Wacom or Apple might be overpriced options, they might end up being a better purchase than their alternatives. Which is a crazy thing based on Amazon reviews which tell you to buy anything but Wacom and Apple. It seems like the only way to see if something is worth it these days is to try it out for yourself and hope that if things don't work out, the supplier at least has a forgiving return policy.
i have the GT156HDV2, is quite good imo, not too big not too small, very sturdy
One really important thing to remember when you are choosing a drawing tablet brand is that
Check out your closest retailers etc where you can get nibs ?... Pens, and other stuff for your tablet.
One of the many yet main reasons i personaly chose Wacom over Huion was that its way easier to find those things for Wacom here in Finland than it is for Huion... shipping from overseas can get costly and takes more time than walking to a local store and buy etc.
I have the xp pen artist 12 and it's amazing
I am thinking about getting that one, does it work fine? Is the size good? I want something portable but yet with screen lol. Regular Tablets (android and iPad) are kinda a big nono for me because I found their drawing apps kinda weak.
I just bought one and it's deffective :(
@@philomenamazzarese9157 Why?
Can't agree more on the quick access buttons and scroll wheel point. Using a Huion based on your review and that scroll wheel is a godsend; absolutely a must for working in a portable environment
Hi I know this is kinda old, but would you recommend the xp-pen deco 01?
I got a deco 01 and it's amazing
Well you can try with any tablem + pen... Art isn't expensive you can just keep up in your papers
Fun video! I got the Huion GT-220 after watching your videos and I love the heck out of it ^U^
does the preview on the screen look good compare to laptop with smaller screen size? I have a 13 inch laptop. I want a large screen drawing tablet like Huion Kamvas Pro GT220
thanks for this, was remarkably helpful for me - precisely the info i needed. very grateful.
e this channel has no right to be this helpful. the art tips have made my art like 100x better no joke and now as soon as im looking for a new tablet (my xp pen artist 12's cord is broken, so im gonna get a replacement cord for it and a new tablet. the xp pen is gonna go to my mom.) this video appears in my recommended. ive basically already chosen one, the huion kamvas 20, and this video suggested it so now im 100% getting it, its only 360 bucks too so i can get afford an ssd and disk caddy for my laptop lol.
i appreciate the art that is being displayed here
I just bought my first tablet last week and you uploaded this...nice timing, hahah
Anyways, my first tablet was Huion New 1060Plus (which I was convinced by multiple reviews, including yours) and I definitely didn't regret it because it works super good and I felt like the price is almost a steal for its quality--and I've been interested in a lot of Huion brands ever since that.
It's truly possible to draw with a mouse (source: me who draws with them for over 6+ years until now) but a tablet is definitely worth the convenience and a great tool if you're serious about art; but indeed it doesn't automatically make you a better artist (that was my siblings' expectations when we first bought a Wacom Intuos years ago...lol)
I like your example and comparison with the camera prices/quality thing; it's understandable on why Wacom gets a high price tag (they're like the BMW or Apple of tablet brands) but seeing how other companies have been doing great, there's many reasons to look into alternatives now especially if you're new and just want a good performing tablet. Overall, this is a great and honest video, your reviews and guides are superb man :'D
Your drawings are beautiful, you are very skilled.
Thank you for the video :)
Soooo, my budget is of, like, 700 hundred dollars, but i am brazilian, so things here are a lot more expensive. I am between the Huion GT 221 and the Huion Kamvas 20, originally wanted the 22e but couldn't find at an affordable price here. Sooo, which one should i get? Maybe get another one, like a used Wacom 13hd, or non pro 16 maybe? Idk
XP pen 22 vs huion kamvas 20? XP pen is cheaper and bigger. And less pressure sensitivity. But I never use pressure sensitivity so maybe xppen is for me.
now this will help me think thrice before buying a drawing tablet next time i went shopping
THB, I got just as much from watching Mikey drawing as I did from listening to him dropping some knowledge about tablets.
I've used a number of Wacoms over the years (started with a big Intuos 3 back in 2011, then got my own Bamboo, and now working with a Draw), and I like them a lot, but I'm really tired of having driver issues and the minimal amount of assistance from Wacom. So now I'm looking for a tablet with screen. So far I've liked the Huion GT-220 V2, the XP Pen 16", and the iPad Pro 12.9" with Apple Pencil. I'll update this after I buy one and share some thoughts.
Hello Mikey congrats on 400k
I got a Huion Kamvas GT-221 Pro and love it to bits , the only comment I have is that I have heard that some people have cable issues with Huion screens If you do, don't buy another from their site, just take the cable to a normal tech store and get one there. The cables are just standard ones, there is no reason to pay shipping etc. for them.
Ugee is the parent company of XP Pen and I have a similar experience using tablets since the late 80's early 90's. Based on experience everything is based on the artist and draw on screen whether it is on your phone, a tablet or drawing monitor. Those tools give you the closest experience to drawing like you would in a sketchbook or bristol board.
Oh yeah, have you made any ranking list for your personal recommended or favorite tablets--to accompany this guide?
400,000 subs way to go mikey
Thank you so much for sharing your experience!
mikey ur the best man. this video was super helpful in my search for a value pen display.
beautiful art! you helped me choose my huion 1060plus by the way. and its amazing 👍
I'm glad that this came up when i was about to buy graphic tablet
I'm sad cause I can't afford these kind of tablets.
This video is immensely helpful and pretty much exactly what I looked for. I've been fumbling about whether or not to make the jump to display tablets after using 2 pen tablets for about 4 years. After my second Monitor has recently died and I'm on my way to building a new pc (once I get to reorganizing my room) I considered "Hey, why not get a display Tablet, that I can use to draw on and also as a second monitor?". And since my screens are pretty old and I've never really known color accuracy I can only imagine it's an upgrade either way.
Now I do have a question this video is almost 2 years old:
Do you still recommend The GT-156HD V2 // GT-191 // and Kamvas pro 20?
Are they still solid or are there newer releases that can replace them in their roles?
I'm asking because I really don't need a big dick tablet but I'm way beyond the stage of "dipping my toes in art" at this point.
Thanks for taking the time to read! I value your opinion and it would help me in makign the call.
I tried a non-screen tablet a couple times and I simply can't get used to draw while looking at some place else
Thanks for the info I watched this video twice and even took key notes and I also made my entry for the XP pen artist 12 tablet wish me luck I really need it so that I can start my Digital Journey as well thanks for giving us this awesome opportunity!!! Your awesome as always
Oh damn ... I just bought one yesterday , but I’m still going to watch the video ❤️
Congrats on 400k Mikey!!!
one of the best cheat digital display tablet is the huion kamvas 16
I've been looking into drawing tablets for a while and seen a lot people review this tablet, it seems like a decent tablet. You should totally draw Harley Quinn!!
Actually I NEVER have driver issues with my any of my Macs, but I find the Intuos pressure sensitivity sucks with my PC (Laptop). The PC does work okay with the Cintiq 24HD (which I sold) albeit not so great with the Cintiq Pro 24.I must admit I have never used anything but Wacom products so I can't speak to any other brands.
I currently use a samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition for my art. Autodesk sketchbook pro.
I sketch by hand on paper before scanning to my pc and transferring it to my tablet to digitally.
Been looking at the Wacom 13HD Crintique and so i can do also art streams.
Still Im keeping my options open.
As most tablets out there now are getting good in quality.
Good choices in those links ya mentioned.
Thank you so much for this vid. This has helped me narrow down my search a lot
^^
I use the same Samsung tablet. While it's great, I'm ready to upgrade as well lol
I stumbled upon your channel about a week ago and I really like your content. I've even gone out and finally bought an art tablet for myself. I can't wait to see more content from you. I just have one question and it's been bothering me for a while. Where could I buy that sweater you're wearing? It looks sooooo comfy
Hi What is the tablet you are using at beginning of this video please?
Although....Now Wacom is releasing a 600 $ 16 cintiq, and, maybe, an entire budget cintiq line might follow...I guess to fight back. Interesting times for buying a tablet.
I've been always an advocate for non wacom (initially a wacom fan) but in durability..My intuos pro is like 10 years old... Not sure if one of these would last that much, that's my fear (as mine costed 800...but I could prepare the moment to fork those, while, suddenly have my cintiq-like die in the middle of a project...not cool. Specially in a bad financial moment and with a pressuring milestone....
That said, I have a feeling that an XP, Yiynova orHuion should last more than 2-3 years, if, like all, treated with care...
Full agree on the Deco 03. And non battery-free = often jitter.
I can only consider 22 inches and higher, though, for work. I find it specially good for large scenes, detailed ones, less the case for close one-character shots, as you can do these comfortably in smaller tablets, too (you can do anything, but I mean, what I consider ideal)
Yiynova not in the list....
the links for the Kamvas are backwards. The link labelled Us is Uk and vice versa
thanks for this. my old tablet stopped being supported so its time for a new one, and there is so many options out there.
Thank you for that remark on pricing and warranty! I rather spend 50 bucks more for a 2 year warranty then get none for a discount or used product.
Also after doing a lot of research I also think the XP Pen Deco 03 and the Huion Inspiroy Q11K v2 are the best pen tablets on a smaller budget.
And I actually tended to the Huion Pro 22 than the 20 so it's really interesting to hear this!
I also like the XP Pen 22E Pro :)
Great vid, congrats on 400k.
this is so so helpful and so well researched. thank you!
I've had my Wacom Cintiq 12wx for almost 10 years. It's pretty obsolete now but still works. I dread when it finally dies. lol
Do that need a strong PC? Mine is useless like me in bed.
@CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG Well uhm, it works sometimes. xD Screw it, I gotta replace this old relic.
@@subarulovesyoutoo4388 I use FireAlpaca as my go to and it works beautifully but honestly professional stuff is done with Photoshop or if I'm feeling cheeky, with Krista.
@@iamshow6477 Thanks for the tip! But I can only use Photoshop since that's basically the only program I use at my job. :/
I would say run Task Manager and as long as you don’t max out anything you should be absolutely fine. But always remember to save frequently
If you're a beginner or don't mind using a different program, Medibang, Paint Tool Sai and Krita are way less heavy on performance than PS. Medibang and Krita are also free(you can find free versions of Sai easily btw).
The tablet usually doesn't put any strain to the system, especially the no-screen ones.

Hi Mikey! I really enjoyed the video, it was very informative! I was wondering, which HUION pen tablet would you recommend for beginners now in 2021? I was looking at the Intuos Pro medium but its too expensive for me. Thank you!
Why lie, I'm commenting because I want the tablet. But hey, I just finished reading Battle Angel Alita. Do you think you could do a combat scene with her v.s. her duplicates? I really like the artist's method for drawing Alita's eyelashes and capturing emotions. Anyways, keep up the great work, you and JettyJet are my favorite youtubers!
I've personally had nothing but trouble with my Huion GT220 V2 in the past year. Was hoping to get your opinion on it in this video lol but I'm honestly about to ship it back. Should have just saved $200 more and gotten a small Wacom.
Thanks Mikey!
You really helped me! ❤
I got a wacom tablet a year or so ago, one those intuous art orso.. and it was fine in the start, but the hand to screen disconnect messes with me :(
Hopefully I have the ability to save up money for a screen tablet some day next year :3
LK. Pawz yeah I have an intuos 5 and I’m with you on that front. I draw on paper and scan it then colour using the tablet
This was very helpful thank you ^w^
Man you are a great artist, I wish I could draw like that...
What would you recommend a person who has done art for many years and would like to get into digital, but doesn't want to spend too much?
I couldn't pay attention to the video because the art was so amazing!!
Been looking for a while at switching from Wacom to Huion, and videos like this make me even more confident in the decision. I use a 19" Wacom Mobile Studio Pro, and over the course of the two years that I've had it, it's glitched out, light leaked, lost pixels, and gotten obscenely hot and loud. It simply isn't worth what I sank into it, and the customer support has been some of the worst I've ever had to deal with. I cannot recommend Wacom anymore honestly.
Great Video with good depth!
the one i had, was about maybe a quarter of the size of yours, it had a square of area that was active for use and the picture wasn't in the area that you drew on.
Thanks for the tips. This is very timely for me right now. Been craving a new tablet as mine is....9 years old or more lol
Thanks for your advice mikey
Huion or xp pen??? Which is better for beginners? Any thoughts
If you had to run a tablet with a laptop, which one would be best
your videos are great keep up the good work
Help... My son wants one but do they make stand alone one you don't have to hook to a computer?
I think that can be cool if you draw a character from Black rock shooter , i love here design 👌
I used to draw using pencil exclusively but recently bought a Galaxy Note 9 because of the stylus and thought I could try using it to learn digital art as well - I got really into it and it's really fun - but the phone screen size is really small which started bugging me a bit. I could buy myself a drawing tablet but I'm not sure whether it would actually be worth the investment now that I have the Note 9 - I can't seem to find anyone that would compare the Note 9 experience to an actual drawing tablet... TLDR - is it really worth going for a drawing tablet when I already have a Note 9? And if yes - which one? I would definitely prefer tablets with a screen as I got used to the Note 9.
!!!! Please review BOSTO KINGTEE Artista 21,5 !!!!!
When it comes to drawing on paper, I use to draw on DIN A 5 or even 6. I just can't draw on huge canvases. So buying a a big inch screen would be completely useless for me since I would use a very small part of the screen only anyways.
I upgraded from a very old wacom bamboo with a drawing field of ~A6 to the xp pen 12. The xp pen already feels so extremely huge, haven't tried it yet tho.
I want one for animating
It would be great to see a 2020 Edition of this.
@ 8:42 what did he do to make it all blurry i actually kinda liked how that looks pls help
Just followed you on IG and liked the last pic. And as far as the character to draw... Elise or Evelynn from League of Legends maybe? Fingers crossed that I get it :D
what drawing tablet is he using I really need it for tech design pls reply!
Just when I want to up my game to lcd tablet you make a video about it! Thanks!
Sooooo sad atm! My beloved Bosto kingtee 19mb has stopped working ( 4 years). Now i need one of these tablets. As long as pressure sensitivity is good i'm happy with it. Doesn't need to have any additional buttons, just the screen is enough. But even 200 euros is a long stretch for a poor guy :S
