Everyone makes mistakes. And don't assume that just because you use a common American spelling that means that everyone else should too. It's a big world, and thousands of words are spelled differently depending on location, even if it's the same language.

I'm in my mid 50s and rapidly starting to age. When I see this, I think, I'm just going to appreciate getting older and let nature take it's course. When i look at others their beauty usually comes from their personality, their smile and warmth. We need to go back to that.

We all make poor choices in our lives, and we must forgive ourselves for those mistakes. In my eyes she still posses beauty. Especially, in her eyes, smile, personality, & spirit.
She didn't need any work done, from an outsiders point of view, but obviously she did feel the need. What is wrong is that she was unaware of how dangerous silicone can be ,regardless of what any doctor says. Had she been properly informed I'm sure she would not have proceeded with the injections.

Let's stop victim blaming!! If society didn't basically penalize people, (esp women) for aging, then people wouldn't go this far. I see tons of comments that condemn the women, but basically NO comments that hold society accountable. "Age-shaming" is done every day. No wonder people go to extreme measures to try and look young.

I know Carol personally and she is a very kind person that did not deserve this. Most people enter plastic surgeons offices with a level of trust believing nothing like this could ever happen to us...until it does. Many blessings for her strength to come forward and bring this to others attention (Carol is the face of the Plastic Surgery Association and her message is very important to anyone having any procedure on the face (even the most mundane (like Botox) Information is power. Ask the plastic surgeon to TEST the product on another part of your body to be sure you can tolerate it. I have seen friends get extreme swelling and infections from Restalyne and most did not do the try test and ended up with long bouts of adverse reactions and one person went to a top Beverly Hills doctor with wasting around the temple and had to get serum to counteract the nodules that formed on her sunken area due to adverse reactions to the filler. This is a TOP and WORLD FAMOUS surgeon. Do your research and call the manufacturer to find out percentages of reactions, levels, etc... You could be saving the quality of your life which is not a waste of time or a small thing.

Facial injections aren't the problem, the SILICONE injections IN THE FACE are the problem. No qualified professional would ever inject silicone into someone's face because that is an obscure substance our body doesn't absorb. Silicone is for things like implants in the body. Hyaluronic injections, often Restylane or Juvaderm, are hyaluronic acids. Our body naturally produces HA.
People who are uniformed or looking for a quick fix are the ones that end up like this. Because silicone injections are presented as permanent, while HA fillers are something that requires upkeep, it seems like a win-win. It's not. The silicone that was injected into her face is the same type of product used in breast implants and butt injections.
Fillers like Restylane or Juvaderm have been FDA approved for decades (for lips, cheeks, under eyes). There are off label uses (such as under the eyes) that are performed on a regular basis. Of course there are side effects of those fillers, but nothing like this. You can also get a filler reversed with Hyaluronidase if a patient doesn't like the results.
They should have went a little more in depth about why she chose to go this route and why silicone shouldn't be injected in the face, but also should have mentioned that HA fillers are safe and effective in most cases. I guarantee that every professional sitting there has at least tried them or used botox.

She looks fantastic compared to how she looked before. It is insane at the lengths we are willing to go to makes ourselves look better, myself included. Nowadays this doesn't happen, no silicone, now they use Hyaluronic acid fillers which our body make.
This is 😞 and yet her smile made me smile. How tough it must have been to see the adverse effects of those silicone injections and her bravery is astonishing to undergo the corrective surgery, trusting the medical practice that failed her.

These are the woes of chasing vanity, or the ever elusive "fountain of youth". But I'm not gonna judge this lady, because many of us delude ourselves into thinking we are not vain, but just "owning our bodies". How about we LOVE our bodies as opposed to commodifying them? We don't realize we're under this delusion until we get a wake-up call. This could've easily been me because at only age 26, I developed a brow wrinkle that makes me appear sort of angry....but I'm actually on the opposite extreme of angry. These shallow societal norms have us believing that the aesthetic of "aging gracefully" pales in comparison to a superficial aesthetic, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Natural is always, always better and healthier, unless there's a serious medical need to alter it.

I’d like to thank Carol and her daughter for sharing. It is kind to warn others who might go down the same path.
this is crazy intense. To bad she felt she needed fix something that didnt need it. Its wild how often you hear "looks dont matter" but everywhere you look from relationships with others to a personal relationship with ones self.... it seems that people go to and through a full spectrum of all sorts of extremes to live out a reality that has nothing to do with such a principle. Hope things get better for the woman. Please people learn to love yourself and if you find you need to change anything about yourself...try the more healthy and natural path first, really give it a try even if it may take a little longer. Its never worth such horrific outcomes like this to take on the shortcut to whatever it is you have in mind about who you think you need to be or look like.

Doc Jarrahy is a MIRACLE WORKER. Carol was DISFIGURED horribly and she looks great now. Two questions: 1. What reputable doc worth his weight in salt would use SILICON injections for the face? omg!!! And 2. How would one not know about it NOT being safe after researching about this? I am so grateful that she is still alive after all the trauma her face/person went through!

Chisom Well first of all, she has to prove that it's medical malpractice because she knew the risks before she had it done and she very likely had signed off on that or otherwise the doctor wouldn't have done the procedure. Her own body reacted badly to the injection and that's not the doctors problem.

Women especially must realize that there is a time for everything, and there is a time to be young and a time to be old, if God spares your life, then you are blessed to live to reach old age. You cant look or be 20/30 again. Live healthy, be graceful and accept your age. We look too much at superficial beauty and forget about the one within. When you are beautiful on the inside, it radiates on the outside . Too many people here have loss focus. They about using thousands of dollars on make up and videos on how to look young etc...face reality, and thank God for life and try and make peace with yourselves and your maker!

In many professions woman that look tired or just have resting bitch face end up being completely disregarded in the work place. For me it is a case of having to spend money to make money. Fillers & botox keeping me looking fresh /alert. Prior to starting i noticed the change in the way i was being treated (i was being treated like a tired, out of the loop old lady..& that is a fact.)

When breast implants rupture the silicon can do damage to breast tissue. This was was quite common when silicon breast implants first came came out. The stories were horrid so why on earth would anybody agree to have silicon injected anywhere on the body, regardless what any doctor would tell you?

Glad for this information to be out there. It is tough aging in the world today. People judge you by your looks. It’s easy for them to say “ love yourself for who you are “, but hard when you You have esteem issues. I pray she really does thank God for the help she got and for another chance to at least look normal.

The best way I think is to do your research before you sign up for anything. Make sure the doctor is a board certified plastic surgeon. Look at testimonials from other patients. Ask the doctor what material is in the filler. And when you do sign a paper, read everything.
Only thing I would do to my body is get dental implants..maybe a little for looks but mostly to eat cause I love to eat

All caused by vanity. We're so hung up on outward appearances we're willing to put our very lives at risk..and for what??? People are so sucked into this thing about youth and beauty and never getting old. Get over it. We all get old and no amount of plastic surgery is going to change that. Okay, if you are disfigured due to an accident or some tragic event of birth, then by all means try to fix it. But when the problem is created by a magazine that tells you you're not beautiful enough, not handsome enough to be accepted, you are on the road to disappointment. This fixation with looks can only bring on more unhappiness when you run out of time and money and you're stuck with who you really are inside. If you can't live with that, no amount of surgery is going to make you happy.

I am grateful if this woman's courage in telling her story saved even 1 person from going through with a similar procedure. It was a very unselfish gesture and I am thankful to God she took the step to go on tv and talk about it, knowing she could face judgment and bullying.
