  • Music Video Compilation
This video compiles Techung's previous work recording, performing and sharing two traditional music styles from Lhasa, Tibet known as Nangma and Toeshey. These music videos are "Ama Leho" and "Kipa Nyima" and were recorded in New York and India in the past two years.
These two genres of traditional music from Tibet will be the main focus of Techung's project for 2022. The first half of the video is about a very famous Nangma song, which was the most popular of all in Tibet. The lyrics of this song were written by the Sixth Dalai Lama during his last days as a ruler of Tibet. The second part of the video is another Nangma song to celebrate the joy of the sun, the moon and the stars. It is a metaphor for human's life where our spiritual guides and loved ones can bring us joy.
These music videos are Techung's contribution to preserve and transmit these songs to the younger generations and enrich the cultural diversity of New York though traditional art. He has researched, recorded, archived and performed Nangma and Toeshey songs for over 30 years. By making these videos, Techung hopes to share the joy and the stories of ancient Tibet and keep these songs alive among the Tibetan American communities and the general public at large.
