Thanks for watching guys. We wound up trading that tractor for a couple of Fords that my brother had. Now he uses the Long on his 80 acre place....so it is still in the family! What a strong tractor for its size!
We had a 1977 Long 460 with a front end loader. When we sold it about 10 years ago it had 8800 hours on it with no major repairs except a complete clutch replacement at about 5000 hours. Other than a few fuel leaks, it looked good. The man who bought it is a neighbor. That tractor now has about 9800 hours on it.
The brakes were fine. We used the tractor at our business. Slow speeds. Easy on the brakes. Never a need to jam on the brakes to make pivot turns. But, your brake linings may be oil soaked due to failure of the axle shaft seals. The tires were always filled with water. And we had a homemade 3 point weight box filled with scrap iron.
My grandad has a Long like that, they are great tractors and you cant beat the power steering on them. Also is your tractors gear pattern really weird?
It's not weird at all. If you refer to that single lever transmission it has two ranges that you can select with only one gear lever, like mine in Romania. You can shift from high to low range or viceversa, selecting 3 gear plus Reverse H pattern from neutral position lenght wise. Also be careful, only 3rd and 6th(on the high range) are synchronised gears.
When it gets really cold of a night and the sun hits it each day it will form this condensation inside especially if your tractor is left out in the weather.

Originally is FIAT 450 single lever tractor 45 hp 1500_1600 rpm max torq. May be 145 nm
2300 cc 3 cyl diesel d115 or 8035.01 Fiat engine
Where do you buy the hydraulic setup anyone know
Under to seat and near to the right side leveler.
Any one of you long guys ever get water in your transmission fluid? ever find out where it's getting in?

The one shown has the power steering eliminated. The alternator on the tractor is a Delco-- not original for that model.
