I’m sure my behavior in the pits caught a few people’s attention. The series presents a rare opportunity for a $250,000 prize to the champion. A lot of us have limited funding and are giving 110% every race to compete for our literal future in motorsports. Being in the championship lead and being dealt a huge blow like that is a tough pill to swallow. That doesn’t excuse anything, but hopefully fans can understand that side of it as driver and that poor decisions can come in the heat of the moment. I was under a lot of pressure to perform but I handled the situation poorly. Hope you guys enjoyed all the great racing aside from that.
Understandable @Gresham Wagner. Heat of the moment. The fact you own up to it and understand it shows your true character more than an emotional one off response. Chin up and get them next go round. ❤️
This street track is perfect for these mx-5’s. It has decent straights, lots of aggressive turns, and it’s short too I believe these tracks suit the Miatas the best ! W for Rollan
I was in Indian Rocks which next to ST pete that weekend. Visit some new friends and showing off my MX5 RF. And less than 10 miles away all this was going on! I had no Idea!!! [fairly new to FL] AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!! Sure as Hell ain't missing it next year!!!!!!
i really like the new miata look. much more than the early 2000's models. thought it wouldn't age well, but every time i see one, its looks like a fun little machine
Sad that bad marshaling cost ~15 minutes of exciting racing. Also it was hilarious to see (hear) Shea losing it (I mean commentary here) on the las lap :)
Underpowered? Lets put a mustang GT on this course with a MX-5 cup car and see what happens...thats 181 hp against the Stang. I have a feeling all that extra HP and 2000 extra pounds is not going to help it on this street course.
@@imsaofficial So there's no way it can be made available sooner to the rest of the world using selective geoblocking or something? Love the series by the way, fantastic racing, fantastic coverage, a brilliant addition to the IMSA roster, it's why I wish I didn't have to wait to watch race two
@4:05 what's with the womansplaining? the guy's name is Chris Nunes, correctly pronounced by the male commentator as 'nooness' before the annoying female makes a point of emphasising her incorrectly pronounce 'noons'
@@hellknightf1 your point? the guy obviously heard her pronouncing it (erroneously) as 'noons' and decided to comply. He's a Brit commentating on an American race in the US and hears an American pronounce it as 'noons' he (stupidly) complies.
@@samsantana But i dont think he complied, as he continues to pronounce it "Noones", and these terms "womansplaining", "mansplaining" should honestly just die.
Look at all those happy miatas wiggling around together.
idk why it feels like those cars are so happy
Miatas be like :D

That helmet had it coming!
If a lot of us were in your position we would have done the same thing.
I've rage quit sim races for less. I can't imagine how crushed I'd be if it was my race weekend over.

I drive my Miata down the same exact streets at the same speeds. You're right it's very fun and it suits the cars well!

There should be a GT86/MX5 cup race (link for reference)

These Mazdas look so cool on street courses. This is like Initial D
Please upload race 2. Probably the best racing series out there.
Race two was made available today as the TV broadcast was yesterday. Thanks.
Initial D Flashback intensifies.
So fun to see, thanks for putting it out!
I was at this race and holy hell are these cars loud. Louder than stadium super trucks and louder than the indycars
I want to ride the MX-5...
Good racing
wow, they are extremely close. looks fun. miatas perform extremely well.
NICE and Thanks
I didn’t know the MX5 cup came to America, there really fun to drive around track even though there so underpowered
I thought Smokey had died? At least that’s what his daughter said.
The entire idea of the Miata was pitched by an American and the car was designed in California.

Could you not upload race two and just geoblock it in the U.S until after the TV broadcast?
Race 2 will be published May 6th, the day following the scheduled TV broadcast. Thanks for your understanding.

No, unfortunately. If you'd like to submit your displeasure to the appropriate at IMSA please feel free to email info@imsa.com. Thanks again.
HAPPY MAZDAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is the leading/safety car in the beginning a CX-5?
That is the most highly sold vehicle Mazda makes. In a couple of years you're going to see it rebranded as a Toyota as well.
i think they said in a previous race that it was a cx-30
What tires do they run for this cup?
Michelin Tires

Good win Selin!
Is it just me, or do there seem to be more than usual mechanical issues this year? Not feeling good about the new MX-5.
why does the lead car around 7:00 have different headlights?
It's the decals
They all have headlights, part of the rules because they’re street cars. Really sucks when they break in crashes
Where's Race 2?!
4th place remains cursed
Shae finishing with the cars
Why isn't this track on iRacing? .....or is it?
The track is not available on iRacing. You can view the entire lists of tracks iRacing does have available here: www.iracing.com/tracks/
Wooooooo
Good 👍👍
Race 2 anywhere?
Race 2 will be published May 6th after the TV broadcast.

The female announcer sounds like Carol Baskin.
Way to long to respond to that... the guy could've been dead in there and the green flag flew on for another 2 minutes.
