Ok so House Of The Dragon Episode 7 set up the seeds of war that episode 8 seems to be delivering on. Having read the source material I know there's some big things coming that we're gonna be breaking down in this video. We'll play the teaser in just a bit but it's important to bear in mind that this has another major time jump in it that is likely going to take us to the year 129 AC. This is a major year in the fire and blood storyline in which a major character dies so if you don't want any spoilers then I suggest you turn off now. Ok so if we're right about this being 129 AC then that would mean we've had an almost ten year time jump to the year of Viscerys death.
Though his voiceover appears in the teaser he's likely gravely ill at this point and this explains why Otto Hightower is doing the talking for him. Otto obviously has his own goals in mind and thus it's impossible to even say if what he's saying is what Viserys wants.
He says that he is the Kings voice and that he speaks on what he wants and all other matters.
What Otto wants though is his grandchild Aegon on the throne at all costs. This pushes Daemon and Rhaenyra away who end up going to Dragonstone in order to get away from the kingdom. I'll talk about how this is a big mistake later on in the video but it's all a play by Otto who now rules the realm. This is shown by the fact that he stands in front of the throne and at points even looks like he's sat in it. Though it was common for the Hand to do this he's clearly now in charge of the realm. It'll be interesting to see if he gets cut or not and if he doesnt then it might indicate that the Hightowers are in charge in the eyes of the throne.
Elsewhere we see that Alicent is now in Viserys seat on the council too showing how she has taken over it all.

I'm surprised Viserys didn't just make Rhaenyra Hand of the King once Strong was dead. It would have prepared her to lead and made the transition much smoother and it would also have reduced Alicent's ability to engage in a coup with the other prospective heirs.
Viserys’s weakness destroyed the House of the Dragon. He naively birthed sons then made their grandfather his hand and half his court aligned with his wife. He single handedly ensured his daughter would fight a civil war for her succession
Laenor and Rhaenrya did not speculate about Alicent poisoning Viserys. They spoke of her pouring honey in his ear, meaning sweet talking him and turning him against Rhaenrya. Even in the last episode, Rhaenrya said to Daemon that she doesn't think Alicent is capable of murder.
The recast for Aegon looks younger than the previous version 🤣
Aemond & Daemon are the coolest looking Targaryens I’ve seen so far. Aemond looks more like a Demon than Daemon
Actually when Aemond struck Jace & Luke they both started bleeding first before he finally lost his eye. So technically (plus if you include the deaths of Lyonel & Harwin Strong) the greens are guilty of starting the killing & blood drawing.
Videos like these really go a long way in making the week between episodes manageable 😊
I find the difference in appearance from the younger Aegon to the older one weird, they look nothing alike. Aemond on the other hand, looks awesome. Very strong Edgelord vibes.
The opening extended scene of this episode was incredible.
They always talk about the Targaryen inbreeding causing their offspring to potentially be mad, but when you look at Alicent's children she has crazy Aemond, Helena who is constantly seeing prophecies, and Aegon who...no spoilers.

I actually had thought that Aegon was Daeron bc he looked so much younger & smaller than Aemond behind him. The trailer confused me for a min.
