Great video Richard Before I retired I gave permission for a guy in our Norfolk village to do some detecting and he brought into the office a small coin he said was Roman and had the mark of the Emperor Constantine. Not worth much but as you say all part of the history of the farm. Thanks
Hi Richard, the coin you found is a love token (a purposely bent coin) there is a fair amount of info online about them if you look into it, I would make a guess at a 1797 cartwheel penny going by the thickness of it. Lovely find :)
Chap who lived in our Village as a boy during the War remembered a Hawker Hurricane crash landing in what he thought was our field. He came to visit a couple of years ago and we went to the said Field. He recognised the spot from the trees nearby but since the War that field was a landfill site. Anything there is now under around 10m of cover and grassed over. Not sure a detector would penetrate that. Also had a Spitfire crash land onto the meadow by the river. Can still make out where the plane went though the trees and took some out. Sadly Australian pilot baled out but died He is commemorated with a plaque by the Village War Memorial. RIP PO Frank Cale.
Interesting metal detecting. The hoards of coins would probably be found closer to the farm. Back in history, they never had banks like we do now. Hence, they buried it in fields, etc, or in the bank of a hill. Tell John he is fired for his pinpointing 😂 The bent coin is a love token
That Land Rover starts like an alcoholic geriatric 'international lurgy' victim. Endless cans of cider found in The Funky Farmers fields... Every stream tells a tale... 🤭😉😆 Who knew, Bees are made of metal...
We get an allocation of wood from our communal forest each year,a few years back I had a beech tree as a part of mine, cutting the trunk the chainsaw snagged and snapped bent the guide. A few days later chatting with a neighbour he pointed out a shallow dip in the ground, where a German bomber had been shot down, when i finally burnt the beech I found loads of fragment metal. In the ash, fortunately no bullets
Great grandfather never allowed anyone into his veggie/ orchard at the end of a long thin garden. When he died aged 102 in 1968, my grandma called the bomb squad disclosing the family secret. House in Coventry, bomb WWII unsolicited foreign visitor and he was not going to let the home guards blow up his mini farm and yes it was still live. 😂
Hi richard it's a love token a boy would bend a coin like that and give it to a girl if she liked him she would keep it but if she didn't she would throw it away
Men and their toys, pfft!. I think that was a bit low on your part Richard, you know there is gold buried there and you are keeping it for yourself and not telling them chaps. Pretty low😂. You might get in trouble for calling them people the "P" word.
Great video Richard

Hi Rich
I run a detecting club in Lincoln. One of our members once thought he’d found a hoard, turned out to be an oil well cover. It was massive.
Did it come with oil?
Good morning Richard, well it’s bombs away day then it’s best you find bits off one than a complete one 😮. Take care of yourself and stay safe.⭐️👍
Exciting. You just never know.xx

Good luck with everything happening on the farm ahead 👍👍👍
