    Hey Ian. I really love those dry stacked stone walls. We have a few in the USA, but nothing like the extent in Britain.
    Don't be afraid to fly your drone in the wind. So long as it is not blowing a real gale, it will be fine. I have a DJI Mini and it does surprisingly well in the wind. If you fly out with the wind, just be aware that it will take longer than normal to return to you, so don't wait for the battery alarm.
    I first read James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small when I was 12 or 13 years old, and fell in love with the mental picture he painted of the Dales, the stone walls, the heather, and the moody skies. This is exactly my favorite place to watch someone ride, and Mr Harriot painted such a vivid picture in my mind that I feel a very strong sense of recognition seeing this type of terrain.

      Thanks Scotty. I have the DJI Neo self flying drone. It’s very lightweight….I have tried it in a bit of wind (nothing like it was here), and it was all over the place 😂 My uncle has farmed in Wales all his life, I used to help out (or should that be hinder) in the school holidays. Repairing those walls is a real skill, plus the build style varies from place to place. Quite interesting ! Yes the rugged, bleak terrain, is equally beautiful when compared to the mountains of Cumbria. I try to mix it up a bit when I can. Cheers

    Hi Ian, great ride out again, don't apologize for saying it's a great bike, can't wait till I get mine, but till then I'll be watching you on Scorpio and Clementine. I had the map book open following your route, it's great seeing exactly where you are. I'll continue having my ride outs on my Hornet till the Guerrilla arrives. Look forward to the next installment 👍, you'll soon have the magic 311 miles on for that 1st service 😀

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  3 місяці тому

      @derbyshireruralrider9398 to be honest, for the places I find myself ending up, no. For example ; I had plotted a round trip from Kendal to Kendal via Orton and Shap (vid out in a couple of weeks). Saved to phone, and it worked fine. However, when I was back in Kendal, by the retail park, I just wanted it to take me home (obviously I knew the way, but wanted to see if it would create a fun route). My phone had H+ internet. I could still send photo’s via WhatsApp, but the Beeline App, just wouldn’t work. It came up with an error message, saying “insufficient signal” or something similar……and that’s the issue for me. I often find myself in area’s of little or no internet. So if I just need to return from somewhere I don’t know, out in the sticks, I’m no better off than I am now. If you save routes to the phone, it works without any internet, but as above, no use to me.

Unfortunately the vibration buzz from the engine was quite unpleasant. Sometime if you want, can you do a comparison ride with the B Line and the Tripper?
