Lately I’ve been having a lot of panic attacks and the fact that it’s hard to breathe when you get those doesn’t help the fact that you have breathe problems as a coronavirus symptom so then I freak my self out and it gets worse then I use different grounding techniques until I’m ok

Often the real world in the Present is overwhelming and anxiety provoking. What to do about that? Its not just the future or the past thoughts and focus. ????

I felt this for about a year without any help, nothing feels like you can relate to anything, nothing matters, time goes so quickly.. But you are here, with everybody else. you exist just like i do. you need to let your brain understand that in this very moment you have a reason to be, calm it down and enjoy everything around you.

Only slightly - i feel i do have much more control now. Anxiety was always on my mind, almost like a parrot sitting My shoulder telling you that you are weak and you are going crazy. The grounding methods did not work much and i was in too much of a distressed panic driven state to concentrate. i couldn't even close my eyes and slow my breathing as it felt as though the world was spinning and i was going to fall off.. Alot of what anxiety is, is the hippocampus ( which is great for survival) which is in the brain, is always constantly on alert, and we have to learn to switch it back off. In the moments of where i would feel OK i would practice mindful techniques, also try to find what triggers your anxiety and panic, note it down, and when you are feeling strong enough, purposefully challenge your anxiety - and little by little your brain will eventually learn, that there is no danger, and the amplitutde of anxiety will decrease -at least it has for me anyway. Sorry for the long post.

I haven't even heard of derealisation, I'll have to look that up.
God bless you all, I hope you're doing OK.

Derealisation is a symptom of anxiety and can only exist when anxiety is present.. it is a response in which your body releases to basically calm you from all the emotional stress you are under.
It is very very debilitating especially if you have other symptoms whilst experiencing a state of derealisation. Like Matt said, I also would freak out when i would do calm slow breaths and experience derealisation at the same time.. it would feel although I didn’t actually exist because I couldn’t feel anything or hear myself breathing.. just know that all it is, is a symptom of anxiety and it cannot kill you! put another meaning to the feeling... teach your brain that it is actually a good thing. This should help a lot as hard as it may seem.
