The King's Gambit is still awesome to this day. As black you tell yourself "it's fine, I won't get mated and I'm up a piece" but you really are always in danger and struggling to get your pieces developed

Not sure exactly but I'm guessing they sac because they thing it's the f6 g5 f4 pawn structure where sacking a knight usually leads to mate. But it's not ..
