Tbh, I liked it better when they were using a wheel to decide what deck they would play, but I suppose this is probably technically more accurate to Yugioh's actual history xD

Eh, I like Sealed Showdown the best because it's a healthy mix of weird cards and jank that makes Cimo suffer for garbage like Yamato, Yamato, Decree, Crane.
Joseph getting his Eset Lanced 3 times in a row in his battle phase under Colosseum and Skill Drain is the highlight for me. Also, Cimo really returned to monke on this one with all those floodgates. Edit: added Skill Drain
I can't believe we are already in 2014, we could very well be on the verge of duelist alliance after a format or two. This series is amazing, and my appreciation goes out to MBT and Cimo for making such an awesome series. Keep up the good work guys!

It's just kind of become a running gag with this community that people kept whining about the game being finished after a certain set. Heard that after DAD got released, heard that after Wind-Ups got released, after Inzektors, after Dragon Rulers etc. But the game obviously survived.
Cool thing to note is that all the beast warrior bujins are modelled after the main characters of gx, yamato is jaden, mikazuchi is chazz, arasuda is bastion, and hirume is alexis

Maybe because Warriors were too generic at that time, and they were avoiding generic support power like with Dragons, and the other reason is maybe Fire fist cards were selling abundantly at that time...

I never cared about wether a deck is competitive or not. I just played whatever I found interesting. Which got me on the bad side of both the competitive and the casual community.
Tefnuit was easier to search out of the deck than Cyber Dragon was. That was the trade off. It is not a worse Cyber Dragon. But there had to be a downside for Tefnuit being readily available in the deck.
@@oliverdeeley I'd argue that CyDra wasn't harder to search, since (if I'm not screwing up dates) by this point Cyber Dragon Revolution was out and Cyber Dragon Core + Cyber Repair Plant made it pretty easy to special summon CyDra from deck. (Though obviously that wasn't enough to make Cyber Dragon do anything at this time lol)

Negating call of the haunted is a OCG ruling brought over. Basically when call is negated AFTER THE SUMMON it stops affecting the monster it summoned on the field, so even if you destroy it, the monster stays.
@@sammydray5919 yeah, imagine it like this: resurrecting the monster is not a lingering effect but an effect that properly has resolved, and destroying the monster if that card is destroyed is the second effect of the card, once that is negated if one is destroyed the other will stay
Call of the Haunted being "linked" to a monster isn't some sort of state of being. It's a conditional effect that says "if this kaputt, then that kaputt" - so if you just negate that, then you can do what you want with Call of the Haunted without the monster being affected.
The coolest thing about Bujins is its interactions with Fire-fist. Because the decks are both Beast-Warriors the 2 decks would often have a transformative sideboard for each other, which is something that we don't see too often in Yugioh
The reason Call of the Haunted doesn't murder its special summoned monster is because the effect "When this card leaves the field, destroy that monster." is a separate effect and only triggers when the card is destroyed. Works like Oblivion Ring in MTG to make a connection.
One of my favorite memories of this format was watching Jeff Jones playing Bujin at an ARG event and going Bujincarnation into Susanowo, then going into battle and taking and Honest from his hand and lazily waving it at the opposing Infernity board full of attack position monsters for game lmao

For the reason call of the haunted stops in the first game, call of the haunted is not an equip card but a continuous card. So it's equipped by effect and not by game rulings.
Kaiser Coliseum was definitely slept on for quite a while, occasionally you would see it from Glad Beasts or Fire Kings but Bujin was definitely the deck to push it into the spotlight.
To anyone wondering, yamato would be 3600 during the damage calculation crane was used even if tenki is on the field since the atk is not an increase but is set due to the atk "becomes double its original atk, during that damage calculation only" and then would go back to normal.
Kaiser Colosseum's text would be (Note how much of it is explaining how the floodgate portion actually works): While you control a monster(s), your opponent cannot Summon/Set monster(s) if that Summon/Set would cause them to control more monsters than you do, unless they are Summoning monsters already on the field. When Joseph use stun trap to negate his own call of the haunted so his scrap dragon could stay on the field, it remind me of madara when he was about to end his edo tensei life due to itachi forced the Summoner(Kabuto) to De-Summoned all the edo tensei. But at last moment, madara canceled the edo tensei contract, made him stayed on the battlefield. Just like Joseph' Scrap Dragon.
Didn't matter in this duel but worth remembering, Crane is before damage calc, not damage step. So your opponent actually had to use damage calc cards BEFORE you use crane. It makes a big difference when your opponent can't really mess with stuff in damage calc at the time, Strike didn't exist so.

Man I love bujins. I have the whole deck maxed out, so beautiful. Can still put in work with summon limit in the main. Not competitive yet but can win you some matches cause people aren't ready for it.

So, out of curiosity, in Game 2 was there any reason for Joseph to not bin the Luster Dragon #2 with Dragon Shrine, thus triggering the secondary effect to bin a second Dragon?
This was the first deck I had that was actually good, I revived it in Master Duels and it held up in platinum for the first like month or 2 until I got the harsh realization that even tho it has some great new support since this time it just doesn't hold up

This was the first deck I had that was actually good, I revived it in Master Duels and it held up in platinum for the first like month or 2 until I got the harsh realization that even tho it has some great new support since this time it just doesn't hold up
