Audi A3 Fuel Cap Issue

Fuel flap actuator stops working, most of the time it just needs to be lubricated and to do so you need to take it out and it's not very easy. If you take it to a dealer they say it needs to be replaced, typical! as they want to make money.
I never thought about that. Is it an easy enough DIY fix or is it quite difficult? I still have an A3.

In the trunk there should be a little cable or button just behind the fuel cap area

I did that myself today and completely broke the cord and actuator. Door finally opens and closes but now it won't lock
I have the same problem with my audi a7. any suggestions?
I ended up taking it to Audi and they had to replace the whole fuel tank and cap. They didn't say what caused it to break.
David Penman it's a known issue. They probably have the part on hand. Same thing happened to me with my A6.
They had the car for a couple weeks and didn't believe me till I made this video. It's all sorted now and the car has been sold.
Have same friggin problem too it broke on me when I pull it out

You should edit your title. This is one of the videos that comes up when someone is looking for help, no offense, but it doesn’t help much.
@@tokyo7815 I can't help that youtube suggests this video. There is a fix for the issue that is in the description for the video and I have replied to everyone with a fix.

i have the same problem on my a6... I always have the cap slightly open... Hate it!!

I had my car on a yearly service for a month ago.. Unfortunately i forgot to tell them. Sometimes it has been working... The problem started this winter when it was a lot of snow and ice. I thought the problem was connected to the ice.. It started to work later.. But now last months it is problem again. I tried to pull the wire in the trunk but nothing happened. Today after i wrote to you i pulled it like a maniac.. Then the plastic locker slowly went out. Not popped out.. I had to force it. So right now it is working.. But i dont know for how long. I will talk to the service desk next week anyway. It is very scary to not be able to trust the car! My warranty ended just recently.. But i think these problems seems to be very common when i am looking on the web.. So i think they should solve it! Have you had any contact with audi?
My car is due to go back in on Tuesday so I hope it will be resolved. It is the smallest issue that I have with the car as the electronics seem to be damaged as well.
Per Wahlström Hi mate. Did you get this problem sorted? How did you do it as I have the same problem with my A3!
I ended up taking it to Audi and they eventually conceded that it was not normal behaviour. They ended up replacing it under warranty.
