Great tutorial on accessing the latch! I would use another light weight oil though. Having worked with and serviced pneumatic tools for many years, I found that WD 40 is good for cleaning and penetrating, but as a lube it isn't very long lasting. I'd use something like 3&1 oil or air tool oil for the mechanism.
I did your tutorial from the video.I sprayed inside the hole and the actuator thing that goes in/out,worked for 2 times as a test and after stopped working.Bought new one (haven't fitted yet) for 25$.
Try it once again and try to spray slowly . Because due to high pressure of can it blows all the liquid out . If the actuator is jam it will start to work again but if solenoid is going bad then wd40 won't do anything I did it along time back and its still working .
Yes its a sealed unit ,so it backsprays , do it slowly it will work if the solenoid is working properly You can also use chain lube if you thing wd40 is not working
Opened again and sprayed WD slower, but also it gets it out.Happily,i have tested it for 4-5 times lock/unlock and IT WORKS!!I will change the actuator bcs i have order it but i will have my old as a spare in case it rips off again.!! Thnks!
Had problem on 2013 Tiguan, little different design, but very similar ,I sprayed it, but still stuck, changed it out easy to change, stuff pulls out, wires through grommet, reach inside on side disconnect plug, insert new grommet on new actuator, all good
Thank you very much! After breaking my flap off (now repaired with a plastic block fitted into the broken hinge, a screw holding top/bottom and 2 into it through the flap) my release catch stopped working! With 2 outer flap screws removed, I was able to release the loosened flap. I will next carry out the operation as shown in the video but if it does not work, I do know how to fit a replacement used flap assembly. Cheers.
@2:00 +yourDIYneeds you said not to pull out hose i.e drain tube. But it has come out, where is it fitted back. Or can it be left to dangle inside as suggested by mechanic for skoda rapid.
Thanks for sharing. I'm experiencing the exact same problem with my 2014 Polo 6r mk5 . But before I continue, is this connected to a fuse that I should check out before I continue?
@@yourDIYneeds to replace the solenoid if your fuel door is stuck closed.... thought that was obvious.... sometimes the wd alone isnt enough but working the mechanism from helps more stubborn, usually sat a while especially northern climates with road salt
Just today i went to unlock my doors using the passenger side handle and heard a weird noise back by the fuel door, decided to investigate and it opens just fine, but locking my doors it still opens. Gonna havebto try this.
sir you have to lock and unlock , many times if that actuator got stuck when locked , in some models there is also a pull tab just behind the fuel lid inside the boot , you can pull that to open it manually
Hello Sir! For me, the engine remains locked in the "closed" position, each time it locks normally when I lock the car from the remote control. To open the damper I have to press the "open" button on the remote control many times + press the damper on the tank and I can hardly open it ... can I try the same option as in the video or do I have to change the engine? Thanks!
Fuel lid is not working on my safari dicor. The needle is permenantly set inside. I think It has jammed inside. I sprayed WD40 with no avail. I have to pull the flap by hand to open it. Can you please make a video on it?
I can hear the relay click, also the little light on button comes up. But as needle is stuck inside, the fuel lid is always open when I pull it by hand. If you have whatsapp we can continue there.
Hi bro, I am having issue while opening the fuel lid for my ecosport. On Pressing the unlock button all doors get open but the fuel lid cap doesn't open. Locked unlocked doors working property but on unlocking the fuel lid doesn't open. Now shortage of fuel can't take this to service center. Please help
Sir It should have a manual release , just behind the fuel lid inside the boot . Else if its stuck then we have to open it forcefully from outside if it doesn't have a manual release
Hi, my car also it is not working when i checked like you explained..the actuator is integrated with with rubber cover, whole flaps come out in one piece...neither is connected to any other sensor...any idea what to do?
@@yourDIYneeds Here is what I did again. Removed the actuator and sprayed again. Disconnected the actuator from the main wiring by accessing the side boot. Reconnected the wiring and viola, It worked!.... Now when ever the lock button is pressed, i can feel the solenoid working as it vibrates through the fuel flap.
Thanks just repaired my Audi Q5 tank flap locking mechanism with WD40. Very nice of you to share this video.

Glad to hear that !
Just done mine ..the wd 40 worked... Thanks. saved me getting a new one ..
Thank you WD40 worked. I would suggest before taking the whole piece off spray some WD40 on the actuator button first that worked for me.
How long did it last with the wd40?
@darink5216 I had to do it multiple times now it's been good for a couple of years. Knock on wood.
@ cool I’ll give it a go so
@darink5216 almost 2 years
bro you are one hell of a DIY guy.

Thank you! You saved me buying an actuator. This works for Audi too!
Yes
A bit more complicated for Audi.
@@jj-tq4hx any details on these complications?
Had this issue since I bought my car in 2012. Works like a charm.
Thank you!! I Just fixed my actuator with a little bit of lubricant spray!!!

It worked for me too. Thank you ! 🧑🔧👍
Thank you Sir. It fixed the problem. I would have wasted 7k and felt like an idiot if I saw this video later. 😂

😁 keep it safe because these actuators are known to have a short life
The same for me ! It worked thanks 🙏🏼
Exactly the same problem on my polo. I did as per your video today & It worked flawlessly. Thanks a ton. Keep uploading more DIYs

Where does that pipe go? I pulled it out by mistake sorting this problem; and it worked.

@2:00 +yourDIYneeds you said not to pull out hose i.e drain tube. But it has come out, where is it fitted back. Or can it be left to dangle inside as suggested by mechanic for skoda rapid.
Sir you can left it dangling , no issues ,
I said it because it is going through a clip which holds it in its position .
Not a big issue
Don't worry
Hi. Mentioning tools and price in description will be nice
Depends on which country you are in!!
Worked also here!
Thank you!
The hole is sealed at the bottom does not go inside the actuator. This does not work. Contact me for images of the inside of the actuator to see.

No sir , its directly controlled by the door locking module which is governed by BCM
If stuck locked u can manipulate the cable from inside the car on vw some are easier than others.... No manual release like on most makes.
Yes but for that boot needs to be open everytime

Water Displacement

Hmm.. interesting. It was actually the inventor's 40th attempt at the formula when he succeeded :)
Ha ha, that’s it, #39 was better, but 40 was a bit cheaper.
D40 was invented to prevent rust from building up on American nuclear missiles during the Cold War
