My local dealer wants to charge me $195 "analysis" fee to tell me it doesn't work - and that doesn't include the service fee. Thanks for the video and the info to DIY.
if this comment can save anyone a couple of dollars. you can dig your hands into the piece surrounding the nozzle and pull back.. you dont have to break the clips straight away like above. you might still break a clip but worth the attempt to try and salvage the piece that connects to the gas cap.
OMG! Isn't there a way to remove that without smashing it? Typical Audi. My locking actuator has stopped working, so I've bought the actuator part, which is nice and cheap, but I didn't know I'd have to destructively remove the whole assembly... Thanks for the video.
Great video Nigel. Wished I'd seen your video before I started stripping the boot side trim (A1) only to find no way of getting access to the actuator 🙄. Can't believe I have to buy that extra part as well...Audi doesn't make life easy. Would you know if this is the same method of replacement for the A1 2015? Cheers.
Hi Nigel, how do you open the fuel door if it is stuck shut? When you press the fuel open button the dash says something like 'venting fuel tank' and then 'tank system fuelling now possible' but the fuel door does not open. The red pull inside the boot does nothing, I checked the car is unlocked etc, Thanks
Very doubtful the alarm is usually triggered by voltage drop or sensor activation check boot light for staying on when shut (drop seat) hope this helps
@@nigelrichards12 I ended up taking off the panel in the boot and there was a rusted sensor which has a wire going to the glass. I phoned TPS and gave them the part number and it was a aerial amplifier, so I took all of the panelling off the boot found that there was about 4 of them sensors with the same part number on so I just changed the rusted one and job done.
Incorrect… you don’t have to break the clips!!! Buy some trim removal tools for £5-£10 and remove this easy!! Just done this on my Audi A3. Plenty of other people on here with videos showing you if you need help!
Just discovered the same, went to Audi and they wanted to charge for new cover claiming the need to break it to take it off.. Guy in the parts department gave me the heads up and told me to check out UA-cam. Other videos show removing it with tools. No breakage, money saved… Off to buy the tools tomorrow

If the actuator isn’t locking the flap when you lock the car could it set the alarm off?? Cheers
