Well happy with this appointment. Best candidate on the mix in my view. Will be a good fit. Re Nisbet....bloke is a bit of an enigma but their is a decent striker there. Alex Neil may sort his head out otherwise show Nisbet the door.
A good discussion Chris as always. I would urge all supporters to watch the interview with Gab Sutton on You Tube. Impressive. Not only does Alex Neil come across very well but it is interesting to hear some of the observations he made about the clubs he has managed which resonate so much with what the position is currently at Millwall in terms of an ageing squad and bringing young players through. What was also particularly interesting was his comments about recruitment and the people and decision making process involved and that you have to be flexible and pragmatic. I would suggest it was something Neil Harris struggled with. If Alex Neil is our next Head Coach I feel we have done well to get him and hopefully we can look forward to him bringing success to the club whatever that looks like and a playing style that is good on the eye.
I can’t say that I would have expected many better options to be available to the club. To be honest I think most supporters of their club would want the best available, but everyone needs to temper their expectations because until we achieve some sort of success then we are just a team doing well in the championship without a history of other clubs. I’ll be happy if we can see a little bit more progress and patterns of play.
Great show lads, I for one didn’t mind who we get in and the important thing is that we are all behind him from the start, Think Neil is a great choice for the club and suits Millwalls style. Regarding Kevin Nisbet he is a finisher and wrong mentality. If he can sort that out we have got not only one hell of a striker but another saleable asset.
To be fair a good show but not sure what Paul is on about when he mentioned we played a high press under Harris. We didn’t use to press until teams got to the halfway line, that was the “trigger” which released the players to press. A high press is what we did first half against Norwich yesterday, when we got picked and pulled apart with ease. A high press doesn’t suit our current side, but we’ll see.
@@Kaseyc1994 exactly mate, it all depends who we’re playing but the majority of teams in this league are better than us technically, so as we both basically said, more often than not it’s just not going to work for us.
I just want to know why nobody else has considered him for a role for nearly a year if he is this excellent appointment. Time will tell, let's see. Other than that, great episode.
They have? Why did you automatically assume they haven’t? Go listen to his interview with Gab Sutton, about an hour long, very eye opening about management and his prior jobs, also the man himself. He explains why he’s not gone back into another job. Didn’t watch a game in of football after his sacking until October.
Bit worried about our reputation as Millwall fans having two intelligent, balance, fair, reasonable and articulate blokes talking so well. Maybe invite Harry The Dog on for a couple of episodes so it can be balanced out?
We don’t have enough points in the bag to take a gamble on someone like Bloomfield who I would have preferred. Hopefully he can get us to 50pts asp then see where he can take us
My dads a Norwich fan he liked him very much I'm a Millwall fan I'm not sure about him we will have to see what he is like cmon wall COYL Miiiiii Miiiiii 🦁
He may have signed him, I don’t think he did though. More of a club signing when you look into the facts. Maddison signed while he was manager, but was immediately loaned out again til the end of that season. He then came back to Norwich, played 1 game in the EFL cup before being loaned out again & only returned after Neil had been sacked. Shouldn’t look too much into what players signed under certain managers at certain clubs, at a lot of clubs the transfers are more the recruitment team, just like we’re seeing now with us.
Adding to that, I have just listened to his hour ish long chat with that Gab Sutton, give it a listen mate. Very eye opening about a few aspects of management in general, and a good insight into the man. Also talks about how Preston’s owners basically screwed him over by not investing even half of over 20 million he/they had accumulated from transfers, and talks about the Norwich transfer policy, and mentions Maddison’s transfer 👍
Leave off mate. Don’t start. This is the issue, bods like you and the twitter clowns start going all over the top. Just accept we will do well to be top half, that way it saves unreasonable and unrealistic expectations.
@DanielWynn-v7b why are you always so negative? Who knows what Alex Neil can do with this squad of players? He’ll be watching the Coventry game and be in the dugout for the Oxford game - two different teams playing two different types of football that will give Neil a better understanding of what players he has, what they can/can’t do for him, and what players he needs to bring in, whether they be permanents or loanees. It’s not beyond the bounds of probability that we could go on a winning run and find ourselves in or around the play off positions in a few weeks time. We’ve already got ourselves to 5th in the league once this season, so why can’t we get there again and stay there? Neil has two promotions on his CV, one promotion from league 1 to the Championship with Sunderland and 1 promotion to the Premier League with Norwich City. He knows what it takes to win promotion so why can’t he do it with us? A couple of seasons ago, we came within a whisker of getting into the play off positions on the last day of the season, but were prevented from getting there by Blackburn. Today, we have a better squad of players than we had back then and on January 1st we’ll have a much better manager than we had back then. Who knows what the next 5 months will have in store for us? Have a little faith, fella, otherwise what’s the point of going along to the Den and supporting Millwall if you don’t have the same desire or belief as the manager does to do well? We can all dream of getting into the play offs and winning it, and sometimes, just sometimes those dreams can come true.
@@andrewroberts299 I get the dream, I have the dream myself. What fan doesn’t … end of the day I just like to remain realistic, that way in my opinion we pull together as a club a bit more than we do when everyone’s expectations are all over the place. End of the day if too many people start dreaming too soon, what will happen is Alex Neil will come under too much scrutiny and too much pressure, too quickly. Let things brew, let him take a look at things and see what he wants to change. I will go as far as to say you (not you personally) must be out of your mind if you think we’re going to be anywhere near the top 6 this season. We will be closer to the bottom 3.

Mate, give the bloke a chance! With Neil at the helm it’s highly unlikely we’ll be relegated. Starting with Oxford United on the 1st of January, he has 23 league games left this season to show us what he can do with this squad of players. In those 23 games we’ll see a lot of ups and a lot of downs, with wins against teams we thought we’d have no chance against and losses to teams we know we should have beaten! That is this league, that is Millwall Football Club. We know he’s going to be watching the Coventry game and then he’ll be in the dugout for the Oxford game. By 5pm on Wednesday evening Neil will have seen us play against two teams with two different styles of football. That will give him an idea of how the players have fared against them both. By then we’ll be in the January transfer window, and if he feels we need to add one or two additions to the squad, then hopefully JB will give him the funds to get those players in. Let’s judge him at the end of the season on those 23 games, and an FA Cup run (if we get one). Wherever we end up after the Burnley game on the 3rd of May 2025, Neil will be given funds to re shape the squad in the summer.
