Hiii, Im the girl who was doing the gazelle punch! My dad and I had so much fun at the seminar, so grateful for the tips and tricks you tought us at the seminar.
I know we don't get the whole seminar, but I think it's awesome that we get this for free. Great stuff!
Yeah this is kind of a bargain... but the seminar was 3 hours so the paying customers got plenty that UA-cam will never see.
@hard2hurt seriously dude we appreciate it. Especially people like me who have to train by alone bc I live in the literal middle of nowhere.
Do a seminar. 100% worth it
Thanks for sharing this with us
loved learning this!! I never learned the fake gazelle hook to straight tho, I like that
The kung fu guys tell me it's an "arrow punch"
@@hard2hurt Then, shouldn't it be aimed at the knee... ? hehe xD
@@hard2hurt If you use the same lunging footwork and replace the straight lead with a spearing elbow, that's the signature technique of the kung fu stype bajiquan.
@@88Spint Skyrim reference... May have gone over Mikes knee that one,.... >
@@hard2hurt It does look a lot like a rapier lunge too
That Gazelle Jab is amazing. I'm naturally a aggressive fighter and uses gazelle hook a lot when my opponent is backing up and is overhwelmed by my volume punches and that jab variation is new to me. Thanks mike cheers❤
I wish we got more but I won't complain. Details were great. Thanks Mike.
Yeah... you just got excerpts from the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes of a 3 hour seminar. People paid good money for the stuff in the middle.
I don’t know anything about anything but I want to attend an Icy Mike seminar so badly…
Front Kick Focus is a good one. It requires no previous knowledge and you will leave with a better front kick than most ufc fighters.
Oh god i was here i'm scared to watch the whole videoo 😂 im the guy in the mike tyson shirt that mike hits with the uppercut at the end
Damn he did you dirty
When you get punched by me at a seminar it's a celebration. You ring back home... you ring your missus 'Baby we did it! Icy Mike made us rich baby! Break out the red panties!"
Had a blast training with you Mike!
Muay Thai clinching and “jaw breaking” ALL my BJJ nerd friends
Can’t wait for the next one!
- Tony the attorney “with the punchable face”
Profession checks out lol
Rocky Marciano would be proud his Technique still stands the test of time, His gazelle punch was devastating👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👊🏾🥋🙏🏾 good stuff Sir Mike. Thanks for the video
The music selection is outstanding.
Your instruction on clinch work always seems spot on to me. Great mix of concepts and practicalities. And the way you were handling that girl was great. There's a lot of people with great hands on youtube, but you've got the best instructor presence that I've seen by far.
The Chinese term your looking for in that one segment is "fa jin" -- it means the generation of power in a compact space...the closest colloquial english translation is probably "snap" (in boxing) or "pop" (in football). Its the thing that the one-inch punch is a demonstration of.
Sergio taught me about fa jin. I'd forgotten the term but thank you for reminding me!
@@hard2hurt My pleasure. Those vids with sergio were great.
That gazelle leaping punch is fire 🔥
Gazelle punch is legit. I'm happy you're bringing light to it.
Im a tall guy with a good cross, and the gazelle adds so much to everyone's arsenal. Even mine was improved upon with it because as you said there aren't many devastating counters. People either run, get hit, or you end up clinched up with them.
Great fundamentals.
From knowing when to stay on a straight line, not lifting the foot to early on a spin kick... This looks like a great seminar.
Can we get you to come to Boston next?
Absolutely. Talk to your coach or gym owner and have them reach out via email or instagram.
probably the best musical choice at the start there for Staten island. Great lessons as usual, love the dirty clinch techniques.
Definitely worth the licensing fee.
I was surprised to see that one guy bring a hatchet for you to sign. 😂 Have you autographed anything else that was interesting?
God, I love clinch work and dirty boxing! Muay Thai was always my first love, but utilizing a single collar tie to manipulate my opponents posture and blasting short hooks, uppercuts, and elbows is my favorite series of engagements in a fight.
Thank you for visiting our gym! Awesome seminar.
congrats on 500k subs Mike!!!
My daughter (the girl demonstrating the gazelle punch) and I had a fantastic time! Looking forward to the next one. Thank you!
Landed that leaping left to the body on one of my students the other day. It's so surprising that I put the brakes on a student that I've literally had to coach out of just letting people hit him so he can corner them. Felt a little bad about it at first but he was back to sparring within a minute so now I just feel like it was awesome
12:04 that was a tough one
Dat be me 😂
Every great seminar includes a healthy amount of uke abuse.
the girl judging in the back is cracking me up lol
LMAO, thats me. I wasn´t judging though- i was just super focused, but I can see why you thought I was judging with the faces I was making💀😭
I’m really enjoying these seminar videos. Good stuff.
It's a real pleasure to watch a quality instructor at work.
I love so much how you remind all these people that we are nerds. No shame for enthusiasm! 🥰
Dude! Even lightly, a forearm to the neck is no joke! LOL Great stuff!
great editing 🎉
I experimented a little with the intro.
Good seminar pal, love the dirty sneaky stuff that breaks rules and finds targets 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That Submarine punch though 😮
It's pretty disgusting.
@@hard2hurt I'm going start training this, much appreciated 🙏🏾
Damn signing the hatchet, I dunno I would be kinda worried he's setting you up Mike
boy i miss training with others...my sensei and awesome training partner died of a drug overdose a couple of years ago and our circle of mma guys just moved on with their lives...
especially the clinch and bjj stuff...which i can't do alone effectively...
Where are you located? Surely there is another club around for you to train?
Find a new gym? That's surely what they did
I'm with these other dudes... cancel the pity party and go train.
@@hard2hurt - I guess my 75 a month to use a mma area at my local golds gym 2-3 time a week for the last 13yrs starting at 47 isn't enough when I should pay another 200 per month to get access to effective sparring/rolling classes...
Maybe taking that extra 200 per month out of my retirement pensions I use to take care of my disabled elderly wife will help me over the pity eh?
@@humbledb4jesus Start a martial arts meetup. In NYC there are a number of meetups where people get together and train together at no cost. Or if gym space needs to be rented the cost is split and minimalized. Where there's a will there's a way.
Those Gazelle variants... need to practice those. Maybe it'll help chase the TKD guys down at my gym. ^_^
I'm about to lose friends with that submarine punch lol.
Wish I could tell you which one it was but he's featured that in more detail in a video in the past.
That punch at 44 seconds reminded me of the game NBA JAMS "From Downtown!"
Oh hell, I can't wait to get back to Carolina. I'm dying to attend one of these.
Love that Submarine Punch. Forgot all bout dat sumbitch
11:00 I think that's actually a form from Piguaquan. I'm some rando from internet comments tho so idk
5:45 if your footwork is good and you understand well how to do this type of leaping or skipping punch (my favorite is the overhand because it tends to cause the most impact on the opponents guard and balance) and if you can do the technique with either side and can transfer from one side to the other it is just effective in general. But especially if your opponent is “on the ropes”. The second punch and every subsequent punch is actually a step through that changes your stance allowing you to create a back a forth rhythm that has huge potential for creating openings for a knockout as well as just has a very high rate of scoring a knock down. It is also extremely variable in its range of techniques that can be employed. It is a form of blitzing that utilizes angles and footwork that is kind of based on point fighting and aggressive hard to counter arching punches to close distance and the fact that you telegraph a bit gives your opponent a chance to shell up and you perfect opportunity to batter your opponents guard and throw them off balance. All while remaining quite safe. Throw in some level changes in your punches, some low kicks and knees in and you have a layered combination of devastation that covers all ranges, levels and angles. You can apply the same tactic to kicks in general as well, but the skill floor is way higher, front kicks and round kicks are often not as effective at breaking down the guard as knees, which are by far the best. They also are not as effective at breaking down the guard or at slipping through as axe kicks, crescent kicks or even hook kicks which are much harder to set up than any of the others. The easiest are obviously round kicks specifically low kicks for knock downs, mid kicks for the technical knockout and high kicks for knockouts. Though in general that takes more flexibility, hip strength and dexterity along with a lot of practice, often times more than most people are even capable of and as far as the axe kick is concerned it is a far to anatomically specific technique. It is simply a fact that most people are not tall enough to make it effective on any size of opponent. So we rarely train it. I still am of the school of thought that learning kicking at every level and practicing to increase the height of your kicks is the best way to kick harder, better, faster and…with more force 😅 some people thought I was gonna say stronger 😂 Daft Kicks 🤣 anyways… to me it just makes since… you cannot get better at kicking high by kicking low.. but you do get at least marginally better at kicking low by kicking high. Logically speaking..it makes sense that kicking higher overtime = kicking better overtime 🤓🤙🏾
Sorry for the ramble hope it was of some kind of value.
Who’s the handsome guy with the rainbow gloves?
My favourite part is when he autographs the axe
I like the Pride gloves at 5:25 :D
I like that lunging lead hook. I practice that. Discovered it myself while sparring with a friend. He had boxing training and was better at circular movements. I was able to use it to catch him a couple times. Since i would practice orthodox and southpaw, i could catch him on either side.
But my striking was even worse back then. Ive gotten better at it.
Gazelle straight also looks like a great sidekick setup. A Gazelle Game in sparring might be very frustrating
New martial arts term for ya Mike. Fa-jin. That's what the one inch punch thing is. You should be able to do it from pretty much any part of your body.
I like u signing his hatchet lol awesome
Great lesson, great teacher
Thank you for tips galore.
The intro music 🔥
Loved this guy in american history x
12:19 Icy Mike for mayor. Breaking wrists, kissing sumo wrestlers on the forehead, signing your hatchets. Great guy.
Icy Mike visited Shaolin!
The gazelle hook and jab remind me a lot of Hagler. Any inspiration there?
Great video
Great lesson!
Man, I wish I was there!
I guess it's not dirty boxing anymore, but once you have the collar tie-spin-make them step motion, there is a nice throw there (sasae in judo, also used in Muay Thai).
Icy Mike looking like Better Bachelor
As a Kung Foolishness Practitioner, yeah that last punch was very Kung fu
I told him it was the Arrow Punch / Gin Choi / 箭搥 -- (I was in that exchange in the video about "kung fu")
Glad to see that Frank Zappa is trainung with you.
The guy getting his hatchet signed at the end lol
Hold TF up did homie bring a Camp Axe for you to autograph?! 🤔 Only my fellow NY cats would do that. 😂
Yo anyone know the song at the intro? Fire vid as always bro
08:00 09:03 09:40 10:04 11:50
Love clench videos!
Hey brah, make a vid about shoes and kicking for self defense, a vid meant for martial artists, I never really tried kicking someone with shoes on
Allstars and boots are hard, I wonder if they deal extra damage or not
THEY HAVE A DWARF
Good stuff
The clinch is Judo range, what about a basic hip throw?
Byron tried to teach me this. Mostly because he was losing and wanted me to fight his game instead of mine.
I thought that lunging straight punch was going to be a lead leg teep to the same spot.
that would be his Front Kick Focus seminar :)
MaWP!!
I would like to train with you my teacher
second.
Great video. Those are handsome bald guys by the way.
Redman from Newark tho.
Wu-tang is from SI tho.
@@hard2hurt "Tried to catch me at sixth and Broadway / But I was out on the Island bombin' MCs all day"
I'm training in Thailand in September. Any advice?
Drink water.
I don't know if anyone has told you this. But you are The Daniel Negranu of Martial Arts🫣😆
Such an amazing experience, next time I need to find something else other than one of my axes for you to sign 🪓
