- This video was truly me just going down the rabbit hole of narrowing down Mayer’s Aqua-Puss history. It’s such an important part of John’s legendary tone! Since I have gotten my own Mark 1 Aqua-Puss, I am realizing how special and crucial this effect really is to John’s sound.

I’m currently looking for an Aqua Puss, can you say which version should I get to get more of the JM feel. The MK2 or 3. or which version do you feel comes more close to the original. I have to say I like that the MK2 is a bit bigger than the MK3

Looking at the sean Mendez board it all seems new. I wonder if it was spur of the moment or there was an issue transporting the gear so he just gave some one a list and they went to the local guitar centre or something? He’s using a bonsai too here

There isn't enough to do a whole video on it! The Replica was just used during the Trio and was present during Continuum's recording but we don't know if it made it on the record. That's it!
Great info I owned a aquapuss I have to ask what is special about the slapback sound vs any other pedal ?
It’s just a hype thing. Because it’s the one John uses the most. Honestly I prefer the carbon copy. Much smaller foot print too.
@@OLDGUYSK8R yeah I mean there’s a bunch of delays on the market that all do great analog slapback but I guess youre right if John uses it people will too.
@@micktheman6 right. Don’t get me wrong Aqua puss is great but look at the ts10 now and how much that goes for just because he uses it. It’s crazy.
@@OLDGUYSK8R yeah people used to think the ts 10 was hot garbage. I owned one it was one of the cheapest feeling pedals ever but if you want his sound I think tube screamer with klon will get you there but I don’t even think ts 10 any tube screamer works.
@@micktheman6 you know what’s a great tube screamer and actually one he has used is the sound tank ts 5. That thing is killer. Super cheaply made though but sounds good. I have found the the dipper pick ups man will get you very close. Along with the ts Klon combo.
