Thank you for this old favorite. My son would bake these for his share of Christmas baking. 8 yr through 12yr old. He is now 56 yrs. I will send him a memory sweet treat for Christmas. And my girls. We haven’t had any since he stopped baking them. We love them, but they were only his to make. But thanks to you I will surprise them. He lives on a boat with no oven, so we cannot ask him to bake them and because of virus we cannot be together. Thank you for the sweet memories too.
Yes! These are my absolute favorite cookie. My sister makes these and soft gingerbread cookies dipped in chocolate around Christmas each year. When she was working as a personal trainer she gave them out to everyone at the gym where she worked and that's how she met my brother-in-law lol. He said when he got home and ate those cookies he knew he had to ask for her number because they were so delicious. I just always thought she was genius giving gym members cookies...secure that client base lol

We make theM at Christmastime. Our recipe is called Russian Tea cakes. I have heard them called Mexican Wedding cakes before as well. They are so yummy. We usually make two quadruple recipes. We color one batch red and the other batches green. For Christmas colors 😉. You and your sister are adorable! Love love love your recipes and how you explain them as you go along. Views on the road 😁. Hey do you have any recipes where I could use corn Tostito’s? Crushed. I bought 4 giant bags from Amazon and 80% of them in the bag were crushed up in small pieces. They weren’t packaged right at all. So looking for like a hot dish recipe or something where I could use them up. They are crushed too small to dip. Any suggestions would be awesome and appreciated! Hi Jean! Oh no, think we have all been there before. I am going to upload a recipe today that you can replace the panko crumbs with the Tostitos. I would add the Tostitos to the blender first to make sure they are pulverized.

I decided to make your recipe and give them as holiday gifts along with other goodies I have made. OMG! I grew up eating these! I never knew what they are called but these and the little pigs are my favs! I grew up in a neighborhood with many Mexican people and I ate with the kids all the time. Home made! I never could find the real one's. Whatever I found never lived up to what I had growing up. Yay! THANKS!
Made these yesterday! So easy and they tasted great. My grandma suggested I use walnuts so I made them again with walnuts and those were good too!

This was a recipe my grandmother taught me when I was younger, but we use walnuts and she called them Russian Tea cakes. So yummy!!
Same, Russian tea cakes, but I'm seeing many countries on line are making claim to them. I'm Dutch and we make them with almond flavoring, it's the best and a bit of vanilla.

I added about 2 tsp cinnamon. And they came out very good. Now, I am getting orders for weddings and quinceañeras. Rolling In the dough. LITERALLY. LOL

I have been making these cookies for decades. I do not add powered sugar to the flour. I roll the cookies in powdered sugar once they are cooked and cooked slightly. I use pecans in the cookies that are lightly chopped. I also place my cookies closer together because they do not spread.
