- A music video for the 1928 film, "The Man Who Laughs". The song I used is "How Can I Not Love You" from the soundtrack for the 1999 film, "Anna and the King", sung by Joy Enriquez..

The saddest great film of all and its saddest musiclip, thank you creator
This is the perfect song for them! I love this!
I'm glad you enjoyed! And it's nice to meet a fellow "The Man Who Laughs" fan!
I can't believe the Joker 🃏 was inspired by this! This guy is the original Joker! 🃏 😀👍
That was beautiful, I was teary eyed! :)
Dea and Gwynplaine is one of my favorite romances in cinema.
One of my favorite videos ever, :) I love love love The man who laughs
Wow beautiful 😭
Thank you.
Konrad great actor.👍
Gwynplaine was in the middle between Erik and Quasimodo, Quasimodo had a good heart, but he had trouble communicating because he lived very isolated beyond his deafness. But mostly his sympathy caused by his appearance, Erik despite his appearance was intelligent and knew if communicate, but was a cruel and possessive person with Christine despite loving her. Gwynplaine despite his deformity knew to communicate much more that Quasimodo because it had the company of Dea and Ursus, but never wanted to take advantage of the blindness of Dea as Erik took advantage of the credulity of Christine when it happened by the angel of the music and manipulated it, when he realized that Dea would love him because of his deformity, he wanted to have a relationship with her.
Dea is an improved version of Emeralda. The gypsy was not a bad person, she saved Gringoire, who had compassion for Quasimodo on the pillory. Esmeralda was superficial and judged a lot by the appearance, already Dea saw the soul of the people. She sensed something that other people did not notice.
I loved the adaptation of the man who laughs who kept the spirit of the book but did not like the hunchback of notre Dame, the personage phoebus is the deconstruction of hero and isos was decharacterized. If it is not for Esmeralda to die, I like her more with Gringoire as in the version of RKO.
I always wanted a joint adaptation of the hunchback of notre dame and the man who laughs with Dea and gwynplaine being the reincarnation of Quasimodo and Esmeralda.
A version that ties the two stories together with Gwynplaine and Dea being the reincarnations of Quasimodo and Esmeralda? That is brilliant. I'd watch the shit out of that.
(FYI, it's TheaterRaven. This is my second channel, and the one I'm more active on these days.) :)
From just a physical standpoint, with his tall, thin frame - and with her blonde hair, I'd have loved to see Veidt and Philbin in the Phantom of the Opera. His body is more how Erik was described in the book - just have Chaney do his makeup!
I kept on imagining a crossover story of Les Miserables, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and The Man Who Laughs. I know it won't make any sense, since those three stories took place in different timelines.
Les Miserables - 1815 until 1832
Hunchback of Notre Dame - 15th century
The Man Who Laughs - 1690
Just beautiful, TheaterRaven! Thanks for sharing!
'd heard of "The Man Who Laughs" a long time ago, as it relates to the "Batman" lore. But I'd not actually seen the movie itself until a few days ago, and it had me on the edge of my seat and on the edge of tears the entire way. This is a "Beauty & The Beast" - type story that's nowhere near as well known as it should be. But through videos like this, hopefully more people will come to see and to appreciate a wonderful, classic treasure.
@karlaidoscoper Thanks, I'm glad you liked the video and would like to see what you're working on, when it's finished. :)
Gorgeous! Very well done editing!
@Cocarat206 Thank you so much. Yes, they are a beautiful couple, true soul mates who deserve to be together forever. A wonderful love story. Thank you, Victor Hugo, for writing it. :)
@AmaraAnon Thanks! :)
