Larry could backup his talk. Legend.
Larry Bird is the only person to be named Rookie of the Year, league MVP (3 years in a row), Finals MVP (2x), All Star Game MVP, Coach of the Year and Executive of the Year.
Pat Riley said, "If I had to pick a player to take a shot to win a game, I'd pick M8chael Jordan. If I had to pick a player to take a shot to save my life, I'd pick Larry Bird."
Nearly every team had a legendary player back then. It was glorious -- a golden age of pro basketball.
Yes, the 1980s was the NBAs best decade, so many great players and teams.
Larry Bird was the best all-round player the league has ever known, PERIOD. He did thing routinely that other player could only dream of doing or, have nightmares about. Larry was dangerous from anywhere on the court including behind the glass. Larry is the reason I became a Celtic fan and I live in Missouri. I watched every game he ever played including several playoff games in the garden. Larry and Magic were fierce competitors on the court and are still fierce friends now. Larry doesn't get the respect he deserves, the reason for thi is a conversation for another time.
it was way more than u realize… jordan was 11-17 lifetime vs bird and was 0-6 vs bird in the playoffs lifetime
Also, what's ALWAYS missed... after 85, Larry had a compromised back!!
@@josecastellanos5187 And didn't he mess up his back by putting in his own driveway?!
@@brendanpowers7945i remember the game when he fractured his cheekbone and came back out and finished the game
@@brendanpowers7945Yes, his brother said he'd help him but never showed up.
@@brendanpowers7945 yep.
It ain't trash talk when you can back it up. And it's not like he didn't tell him what he was gonna do.. he told them his shots.. and they still couldn't stop him. That's skill
15 legendary NBA stars tell bird trash talk stories.
A good player will get the other player so mad , that thier head is not in the game .
Bird was a huge trash talker, today all the players that played against him love to tell Bird stories. He grew up with his brothers talking trash and later he played the waiters at a local hotel. They were grown men and black but they accepted him and let him play with them as an eigth grader. I think he probably picked up a lot of it from them.
"Why you never poke Larry Bird" is really good
He had the confidence because he had the skill.
That was probably 10% of the bird trash talking stories if that much
Dig deeper into Larry legend... you will be amazed 🏀🐐
Larry was a savage on the court but he didn't seem to talk bad about people off the court or behind their back. Even today i n interviews he's very humble. But on court it's the mind games, part of winning the battle.
the funniest part about barkley’s story about having the white guy guarding him is that the only guy the size of larry that was white on that team and played enough was bobby jones, an 11 time all defensive hall of famer and his nickname was “the secretary of defense” 😂 and check out the times he overcame injuries. it is wild.
There is a reason he is called the Legend! He is the Goat.
Larry Bird used trash talk to make you doubt just a little or get you off your game just a little. It was part of his whole game strategy.
He talked trash and could always back it up. When you can call your shots and they can’t defend it, you’re a phenomenal player.
Best thing about Larrys trash talk is he always backed it up !!
Bird is the GOAT of trash talking no one has done it better before him or since he left what a legend
Look up the story told by Jamal Mashburn about the time Rodney Rodger’s trash talked Bird…. And what Magic and Bird did to respond the next day. Insane.
Jordan said he learned everything about trash talking and getting into your opponents’ head, he learned from Bird.
THere are so many more stories about his trash talk, John Stockton’s rookie year, Larry told the entire Jazz team he was going to get 43 points on them before the game started. Bird scored 43 points with 4 minutes left in the third quarter and checked himself out, so his prediction was correct. John Stockton said that was a craziest thing he ever said.
Dominique said he once saw Larry get so pissed off at the other teams for putting a white guy on him, that once they passed Larry the ball, he simply bent over and set the ball on the ground, said it wasn’t even worth doing anything against the other guy because it would be too easy and just ran down to the defensive end of the court….turning the ball over on purpose.
You could type a novel about his stories and it would end being a trilogy longer the Lord of the Rings books.
Best all around small forward to ever play the game was incredible had no weaknesses to his game
Vid was missing Gary Peyton. He had an amazing story. lol
There is a lot that goes into a Legend. Larry had it all.
I'm crying at her face when you told the McGuire story!😂😂😂😂😂
True story 😂🙌🏾
The reason he had confidence is because he practiced 10-12 hours a day. That's why.
LARRY LEGEND IS A UNICORN AND THE TRUE GOAT!!! 🐐 ☘️
I'll send an even better trash talking video if I can find it... The story where magic Johnson says he was hurt... I got to try and find that footage it's like Larry was a one man Harlem Globetrotter He was clowning fools absolutely clowning fools!
They call him Larry Legend. The best BB player that ever stepped on a court. He is the 🐐
They called him Larry Legend while he was still playing
☮️❤️🙏🌎🌍🌏🇺🇸❤️☮️
When Gary Payton says you are a trash talker
Yes, Mark Aguire was a decent player and Chuck Person was as well.
Bird challenged his opponents (and himself too) to *bring it.* To give him their best. As you listen to more of these kinds of videos, you'll hear it. After being dunked on by Dominique - "Rook, I like you but I'm still getting 40 on you" After torching a fellow player from the state of Indiana "Rook, that's the best effort I've seen in a long time. In the off-season, come down to my place, and we can shoot around. " _These "quotes" are para-phrased_ but they give you the gist.
You pick Jordan to win a game , you pick bird to save your life !😊
He had confidence from shooting 800 practice shots a day.
Bird played an entire game left handed and scored 47 pts
February 14 1986 vs protland birds right handed
The great Pat Riley once said if he needed a shot to win a game he would pick MJ if he needed a shot to save his life Bird
I saw the other video you guys did about Jordan trash talk, and you should watch a few more of Bird's Trash Talk ones, because MJ is on one of them, being quoted saying that Larry taught him everything he knows about it. Jordan also had a rule for his team mates when they played the Celtics; "Not ONE word to Bird". He didn't want his team pissing Larry off.
HIS PSYCHOLOGY was ill taken as Trash Talk .... but, he could FOLLOW it up with action of extraordinary discipline and ability !
Is it trash talking if you tell the other team what you are going to do before you do it and then go do exactly what you said you would do? Or is it more of a challenge to stop him - which they couldn't.
If you can get in a players head. Then you have him!!!
Larry wouldn't shake Dominique Wilkins' hand because he was a rookie. They became friends to this day.
Part of Larry's game! Getting in other players head!🤔
Congrats on the 20k subscribers!
There was a game where Bird absolutely crushed a rookie, got like 50 on him, trash talked the whole game. Then at the end of the game he came up to the kid and complimented him on his effort, because the rookie didn't give up no matter how badly he was getting cooked, and Bird respects persistence. Invited the kid to visit in the off-season and shoot around on his private court. Bird was relentless on the court, but he wasn't mean-spirited about it. Getting inside people's heads was just part of the game.
That was Shawn Kemp. That video and Jason Williams of the Nets are great.
Bird's talk is all *basketball.*
Larry *is* a stand-up gentleman.
As many of the guys telling the stories point out in many trashtalk videos, Larry's "trash talk" wasn't vulgar and demeaning, it was all basketball. .
This! His trash talk was not demeaning nor was it vulgar. It was all about basketball and what he could do and where he would score
Like I have heard many opponents say, Larry was a bad man. Enjoyed the commentary, thanks!
Gi Gi is so cute
you should see the shot he made from BEHIND the goal!!
Was in French Lick this afternoon, took my residents to eat ice cream and see Larry's childhood home, the house he built for momma Bird Grorgia and his court he put his work in below Georgia's house, sadly the Celtic all green court is in sad shape but the casino has acquired it and it is slated to return to it's former glory. 45 mins North from here.
GOAT and I was a Sixer fan.
Loved him as a kid at Indiana State, once he donned the reen Ihated him, he's bad.
It aint talkin shit when you back it up
If you check out where Larry acquired a lot of his basketball education, on public courts with older black players, you'll see that he at least comes by his unique race opinions, skills and mental fortitude honestly.
If you'd like to learn about Larry & Magic then watch
"Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals"
Excellent documentary, you will learn things you'd never believe.
Nice reaction!
You guys should do "A courtship of rivals ". Birdgang will show up, and it's worth every minute.
Mr. Larry Bird was/is a master of psychological warfare. He lived rent free between the eats of the other players. He told them what he was going to do AND then did it! He worked his tail off perfecting his craft! He could do it all lead, shoot, pass, rebound, and fight!!!! Enjoy. Caitland Clark is the female version now in the WNBA.
As a kid Larry played on the hood, cuz that's where the best players where at
Larry-true GOAT
All the players say that Bird would talk so much trash ... and then deliver.
A better trashh talking vidieo LARRY BIRD STORIES THAT PROVE HE IS THE GREATEST TRASH TALKER this one is even better
If my team has one shot to win the game.....I want the ball to go to Micheal Jordan.
If my team has one shot to save my life.....I want the ball to go to Larry Bird,
Massachusetts state bird Larry Bird
Larry true GOAT!
Yeah, maybe people would like LARRY FREAKIN BIRD on their team.....maybe......LMAO.
the bird Dr j story was cut off early. seconds after they stopped the video they grabbed each other by the throat and started throwing hands, ended in a bench clearing brawl.
bird hands down undisputed goat of trash talking
Larry Legend
Jordan said he learned trash talking from bird
When Wilkens was talking about Larry saying he was still going to get 30 on him that game Larry actually got 38 on him that game. 😅 So he told him the truth.
I recommend watching a highlight video for Magic Johnson if you haven't already. After that, watch the documentary Magic Vs Bird: A Courtship of Rivals.
MJ said he learned trash talking from Bird
Mark Aguire went to DePaul. They had an excellent team and a legendary coach. Bird beat them in the NCAA Tournament. Mark remembered that, I’m sure.
ay W reaction, I would love to see a steph curry reaction vid
You should watch when he and Magic Johnson were on Letterman together . They were good friends .
You need to find the history of Larry byrd it's out there somewhere
There is vidro of zBird at a press conference after a young Dennis Rodman had said that if black, Bird would hust be condidered a good player. Bird handled it perfectly. He said, i am sure it was all done in the spirit of competition. If it doesn't bother me, i don't see why it should bother anyone else
Mark was a great Piston
I do not know if you know this fact. Micheal Jordan never beat Larry Bird in a playoff game. In fact Bird had the upper hand in all the games they played against each other.
Are you serious!!! Larry wasn’t the rookie, Clyde was. Wow, just wow!
I would always lead the with the mark aguire creation story.
Basketball is a competitive game. There is no gentleman on either team, just competitors. Anyone thinking like a gentleman is not in his right mindset for the game.
Depending on how this reaction goes... you might I say might (why do I sound like Foghorn Leghorn?) Have a new subscriber, I say , alright, I've been drinking. Just go to the video.
Lol Foghorn Leghorn 😄👍
He was just getting into other players head's so instead of thinking about the game, their thinking about how angry they are at him. Smart, if you can back it up and he could.
Check out Mac Mcclung highlghts from the G leaugue.
The Ali of basketball, talk trash and back it up! #1 Wilt #2 MJ #3 Bird the rest who cares! (#4 Curry who
changed basketball forever)
THEHBKSHOW, check out Larry Bird welcomes rookies to the league videos, he was brutal lol
Bird want trash talking to be mean, although it seemed that way. He trash talked to get into your head and out if your game. It's also why he told guys what he was going to do. It psychologically destroys you. Bird didn't have Jordan's physical gifts. He used his mind in every aspect of the game.
"Michael Jordan made you look slow. Larry Bird made you look stupid." James Worthy
💯
Nice videos you kids!
React to more Larry Legend!!!
Larry grew up playing against Black guys..
You should check out Jason Williams White Chocolate
Watch greatest passes re-edit, Making the Case and A Courtship of Rivals...best documentary I ever watched. It's about the rivalry between Bird n Magic
The white guys did not push him to his limit. He played better with a good opponent.
MJ Has Said That He Learned How To Get Into Players Head From Bird. Also I Heard Somewhere On Here YT; That Jordan Had A Rule To His Teammates When They Played Against The Celtics, That NO One Was To Say Anything To Bird-(Trash Talk)- Because He Didn't Want Bird To Have More Of A Reason To Turn It Up On Them. Bird Also Loved To Mess With The Rookie's Because He Liked To See Who He Can Mess With. Really Wilkins & Bird Had A Deep Respect For Each Other. Bird Didn't Talk Vogler & Really Never Did The Pounding Chest Act. Like They Said Bird Knew Who He Could Trash Talk And Get Into Their Heads. But Mainly Him Telling Them Where He Was Going And What He was Going To Do, He Did That To All Of A Them Few Times & They Didn't Have To Be A Rookie For It To Work On. Also Just Want To Give Ya One Suggestion, Please Hit Your Back Up Arrow < One Time So It Goes Back A Few Seconds Before You Start Up The Video After You Stopped It. Because You Do Miss Some Of The Things Being Said When You Don't. I Hope You Check Out; Welcome To The League Rookies. It's About Bird. And Thank You For Doing This One Today & I Subbed To Ya A While Back Because I Do Enjoy You & Your Beautiful Girlfriend.
There’s a lot better trash talk video of Larry Bird, that I would like to see y’all watch
You should reqct to WWE Womens Finishers.
😊
Kids, it is not trash talking if you can back it up!
If you think that he was a good player then check out the video of his injuries and how he played with all of them. Especially when he missed up his shooting hand the summer before he got to the NBA.
I would take Bird in his prime over LeFlop anytime because he gave 120% every game. He never quit on his team unlike LeBron.
Michael Jordan was 0-6 in playoff series's. If the NBA ever made a trash that should be named after Larry Bird
Watch his passing video
