I think people are finally getting bored of social media. We’re tired of the grey/white lifestyle rich restock my fridge with me aesthetic. We’re tired of watching someone stock their cabinet and we want to stock our own. We want to be educated. We don’t want to watch someone else live their lives anymore. I think that the shift.

I So love to hear you say this!! I have been on the fence with starting my educational UA-cam due to people being trained to indulge in short content wholly and also content that won’t tell you anything life changing. So thank you again this shows there are people seeking that and there is room for my channel to thrive
Its interesting also, from a number of reports if you go and look - there is a clear correlation between the rise in youth depression around 2012 when sales of the iPhone seriously exploded. Smartphones are great - but they, and the social media they feed causes damage in ways I think we're only just now beginning to consider. In more ways than one, I almost wish the smartphone had never been invented aha! Go back to dumb phones!
Been saying this brother. We are in the age of Independent Creators who provide VALUE. They will continue to thrive. Influencers relying on good looks and photo editing are dead. The age of the Pop Star and Celebrity is OVER. Rise of the independent community builder is in full force

The worst part of social media is that makes content creators think they are artists, and artists think they are content creators. Be artists. You are not here to create ads... Unless you are here to create ads.

the artists thinking their content creators is so true, i saw an amazing artist on tiktok the other day, her work was amazing but it was being so overshowded by her constant pouting, hair flicking, basically making her looks the centre, and i understand its hard to get your work out there and flaunting youth and beauty works well to promote yourself...but its only for the time being, and i just found it abit sad
It's not fair that they want us all doing the same thing to get attention. Artists getting no love because they ain't dancing and making comedy videos and dancers actors and and comedians are getting love so they are now selling art. What a world.
I'm tired of youtube and social media. I'm 37 and quite tired of this expectation from everyone that this is how life should be. What if I don't want a life with computers and youtube? I'm no one? I can't shape the world?

I love this. That's the spirit. The Influencer approach is really short-term because of burnout due to keeping up to trends. But for long-term purposes, your approach is rock solid

@@MajorPaneIntl Yes. But not only is it really short-term because of trends burnout, but also because of the 'short-form' format.
Influencers likely don’t have much time left because they rely on a system that causes burnout and feels inauthentic. Creators, on the other hand, create with the goal of sharing because they yearn to create things. Creators aren’t going ANYWHERE. It’s when you factor in the urge to monetize, influence, build a personal brand and make sponsors happy that you start to feel resentment. I think it’s important to distinguish between the two because after all the influencers fade out, creators will still be here standing strong and showing up (just maybe not every Tuesday and Thursday and Saturday 😊)
i’m glad you said this & this is so true lol. i always wanted to do youtube but just started inconsistently last year. i mostly started to make $ (fully understanding it will take awhile to monetize lol)
but the crazy thing is as i make more videos i realize how much i love filming & editing & the entire process & it’s more about it being something i enjoy to do rather than just money. & i think there’s so much power in that lol there’s like no resistance when you know you’re doing it just for the sake of creating and having fun

I started my youtube journey (been at it for years but now I’m seriously going for it). I’m now finally listening to myself and what I want to make. I’m enjoying the journey. I want my channel to inspire and relax others. I’m excited to see how this goes 🙏🏼💖 (its my dream)

I'm a new youtuber and I get so uncomfortable being in my authenticity because of how "controversial" opinions have gotten. I've witnessed so many people demonized for saying something that was taken out of context and I fear it silences me & many others from speaking our personal truth. All it takes it one wrong misunderstanding, for people to jump on a hate train. A lot of pressure to be authentic these days. I really needed to receive this message, thank you.
I completely feel you on this! I’ve been inconsistently making videos for YEARS most of which never saw the light of day. I don’t want to be afraid anymore but it’s really challenging in this world of group think. I wish you all the best on your UA-cam journey

Definitely 2020-2021 was peak influencer/content creator. That will never come back for a long time.
As a working professional Filmmaker wearing all the hats with over 10 years of experience. The key is to be adaptable and to recognize when you need to pivot. This video was so good, love your content!!

I have felt this shift recently in social media and I low key feel excited for the challenge of it all? I feel like social media for me personally has seemed a little stagnant this past year and I couldn't quite pinpoint it, im not sure if anyone else has felt that - seeing the same things online carbon copied over and over and people noticeably performing more for the algorithm than their audience (which I notice more being a creator bcos I've also been so guilty of this), I've felt such a shift to lean into my authenticity and it has brought me so much peace and purpose - thank you for you insight on this topic, I appreciate you wanting us all to stay ahead of the curve with you
This is why I left social media. What you said is so true, I'm only creating on YT in a kind and authentic way.
I think the burnout is going to be good because it will shift people back to wanting true connections again. 💞🙂

yes & it sounds so cliche but 100% BEING YOURSELF will take people so far. i’ve noticed everyone acting, dressing, looking & doing their content the exact same even if it’s not the real them just because they think that’s what people want to see. but people are actually very thirsty for originality. i’m posting again on youtube this week & revamped the entire thing to reflect who i am. i’m honestly excited

Never wanted to be an influencer, just want to find the right people that resonate w/ me. I already knew I would be burned out or be forced to sell out in order build a larger following and that's never been my style.
You're always right on time. I've pivoted and decided to focus more on my business. I believe UA-cam will be the only platform to create original and authentic content (It's already started) and people will spend less time mindless scrolling.

loved this one Hindz. I'm actually her for the fall/ or change of influencer culture. As someone who was on UA-cam 10 years ago when it wasn't able to be monetized, I'm in full support of more authenticity and uniqueness to return to social media. "If you didn't make a dime would you still do it" is the question I feel a lot of people need to ask themselves.

You speak facts! I watched a very talented videographer/film maker friend get iced out by tech but this is where experience kicks in. He successfully reinvented himself; it wasnt easy and very humbling
I’m already seeing myself shift my consumption to more long-form, authentic content instead of mindless scrolling. Platforms like TikTok and Insta Reels are so addicting, but more and more people are realizing just how bad doomscrolling is making them feel (and doing something about it!)
Couldn’t be more excited for the next wave of online creation. And this time, joining in myself! Connecting is what the internet was made for, after all :)

Great insight Hindz. I just plan on being me, not chasing anything. Just being flexible, adaptable doing what I love to do. Constantly educating myself thinking of new ideas.

I really don't think AI will take over these spaces, it is soulless and people can feel that. I certainly can. It is incapable of being original. Only the heart is capable of originality ❤
Especially with them stealing their data sets from the internet. Every ai is racist, sexist and homophobic because of this. They have been working on suppressing this but it’s still there. Remember when these text algorithms first started and there was all these problems with them labeling pictures of black people as gorillas. A company tried to use one of these to decide who gets mortgages and even without any data on race they still found out who was black and denied their application because of it. I think we should refuse to use these platforms because they stole all the data we’ve been putting on the internet. They’re making a profit from all of our work and not one of us will ever get paid for it.

Thats what I think about AI replacing actors and musicians but a lot of the general public doesn't care they just want to be entertained. I think opinions about it will be split but unfortunately the younger generations will eventually become desensitized to AI and won't know the difference.
The reason humans can be the king of the jungle even though a LION or a BEAR is biologically stronger than us is because WE CAN LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES and can be DIVINELY INNOVATIVE TO CREATE.
We have to realize that AI (artificial intelligence) is just like us but without the biological flesh body. AI is just like us and learns from their mistakes but they aren’t held back by a soul or a human ego. Some will say they are superior to us. Only time will tell the true effects ai will have on our society

This is sooo real! UA-camrs in the prime years we’re so unique and original. It’s really hard to find unique individuality now, but those creatives ARE still out there. They’re small and underrated because of how intense the competition is.

There’s already pushback on AI content. The voices are annoying. We also need laws that make you put a watermark saying it was AI generated. If you don’t put it on your video then you get fined. We need to fight back against the machines.

Started youtube about 7 or 8 years ago. I popped off pretty hard in the beginning then took a total dive around the pandemic. While some people were taking off, my channel was dying. I have never liked the videos I make more than I do in this new era though. I consistently push myself outside my comfort zone and am slowly changing my video content. I feel inspired, however at the same time, the burnout is SOOO REAL. My views are horrendous compared to what I used to get. I find myself going back and forth about quitting or perservering. So much time and effort with little return. I keep holding on to the dream and let life maneuver itself how it needs to get me there. But damn it's tough out here 😂

The true definition of community is cohesion, support and understanding. I don't see this at all in the influencer 'community'.

Re: AI I'm on board too with WTF real people will be pushed out....is this PROGRESS? What other creature would be stupid enough to build something SMARTER AND LEARNS FASTER than they do? It’s hard to follow dreams when your brain changes you every 3 months. The only thing I always go back to is making music, and fortunately this time I invested in some high quality equipment. But working full time does slow me down.
Taking your Skillshare class right now and man, you seriously got the it factor. I mean the UA-cam content is good enough but it changed the way I looked at making content and realized I wasn't speaking my truth. I was chasing money. Which is funny because I already feel a shift in my income by speaking my truth instead of worrying about the money. What a game life is.

I’ve seen several influencers quit or slow way down. They all are stating “burnout” and they are tired of having to make “cinematic” videos and all the editing that goes in it. I personally love simplicity and stick to those channels. Thanks for keeping us up to date. 😊
We are working to satisfy the owners of the platform, which is a corporation. Every facet of what content producers create is done within confines. We need a new platform, possibly owned and by producers with NO agendas. The data center needs to be almost like open source, non competing and non controlling! BUT I guess then the g.ov would just regulate it out of existence.
good point. too many people doing things for the likes will get depressed. i really like we have so many more creators, but it should be because you love it and its good for you, not because others like it - that's just a recipe for being sad eventually and especially for burning out

I started a business and then the youtube channel, took the other way around but it all comes together, but it takes some time. I agree with what you are saying but it is tough, not for everybody

I found you not too long ago and your videos randomly pop up on my feed. You have such a soothing voice and your message is also inspiring and soothing. There’s a quality about you that reminds me of an old time radio host that would talk to listeners and then queue up a song to match their message. (You don’t have a radio host face though; apparently there’s a joke about that and it’s not a nice one, so let me add that just in case!) ☺️💕
My hiking videos were a case of views vs my fear of bears. The bear fear won out, and the onset of winter was the nail in the coffin. And I was just starting to snowball views!
This came at such a good time, ive been a content creator for 6 years this year and I’m only just discovering that I need to stop caring about likes and view and focus on what I ACTUALLY enjoy doing and what sparks my creativity. I’ve made a few changes this year and I’m already feeling way happier and more fulfilled
People will pick up on the vibe you give out so if you’re having fun, being creative and staying true to yourself, you don’t have to worry about where the community and views will come from, because it will all work out
