As of July 31st 2020, Apple surpassed the oil company Saudi Aramco to become the most valuable company in the world, with a market cap of two trillion dollars. And that may not be hard to imagine since Apple sells so many wildly successful products. But things haven’t always been this way. In the 90s, Apple was about to go bankrupt. And the story of their initial success, fall from grace, and subsequent recovery, is one of the most exciting stories in the corporate world.

Hi Greg!!!
Couldn’t we just have a FEW more videos without any ads interrupting them?😑
Are you ripping off Company Man's style? Hope not but we're all asking
You made error at 1:24 to 1:28. Silly error. Please rectify
You mean in 1979 @1:27, not 1997 right...
All the comments: aRe YoU cOmPaNy MaN
And also “iTs 1977 nOT 1997!”
Matthew W. Lol yeah
Not sure if Company Man or Apple Explained 🤔
Ikr

Emi
Wtf
He probably meant 1977.
Company man wants to know your location
For real, I was shook
I didn’t realize it wasn’t company man until I started the video
That’s true tho. Litterly thought this was a company man video (I’m subscribed to him and Apple explained) when I saw this in my subscriptions lol 😂
True af😂😂
@@Willy48420 ollk00
Looks like a “company man” title 😬😬

Me to
Who is company man
I honestly thought it was him when I saw the title
Ronu Roshi A youtuber who talks about rises and falls about different companies
I hope Apple Explained didn’t flat out rip him off also I’m a big fan of company man
Did company man take over?
Did Company man changed his name to Apple Explained?
Who is company man
I swear I thought this was a Company Man video lol
Me too lol
Ronu Roshi if you don’t know who company man is then your very sheltered
Ronu Roshi hes this guy who explains interesting stories every week about companies
In short: When steve leaves apple bankrupt. When steve come apple successful.
Not meaning to take anything from Steve Jobs,
but I think ‘timing is everything’ is part of the equation.
The idea in of itself, usually, is not enough, from what’ve read.
“Stay hungry.”
Haha I thought this was a Company Man video.
(The “The Rise And Fall...And Rise Again series”)
I was really expecting this to be a company man colab. I totally clicked this video because I expected that
Actually that’s a good idea for them to collaborate together👍🏻👍🏻
1:24 You mean *1977?
yea i was like, am I hearing correctly
0:42 Doesn't that look like an Apple Watch?
The Apple II was definitely earlier than 1997. You made the error a couple times, so if you do decide to correct the problem and reuplpad make sure you catch the error around 1:02 as well as 1:23
Apple company man. Ha yes
Company Man: 👁👃👁
your documentaries are always fire🔥
I thought I was watching "The Company Man" for a quick second
Company man lol
Company Man crossover? Please don’t jack his style Greg 🙏
Thank you for creating these awesome videos for us ❤️
f
No one:
Just no one:
Everyone: COMPANY MAN?
It seems like there's a lot of history behind the Apple brand
Great Video, Keep up the good work!
What a story to be told !!!!! One man only one man can change everything just everything with his imagination. Just wow!!!! What a man. ✊ respect ✊.
Thank you steve for eventuating apple!
Wait a minute, you’re not The Company Man!
sorry i was born in the 2000's all i know is the rise of apple period (in city girls voice)
That 1997 to 1980 really was throwing me off...Apple is time traveling now? Lmao
The ad lasts from 5:21 to 5:59
Why this video doesn't have subtitles? I mean, literally every other Apple Explained video has included some subtitles. Even those with basic subtitles in videos like when Greg was reading that book "Designed by Apple in California" have at least some help for non-hearing audiences!
Great vid!
Inspiring
At 1:06 you said Woz created the Apple II in 1997 btw
YAY NEW VIDEO!
thanks steve made iconic productsfor apple
You left out the part where Jobs basically instigated a boardroom coup to oust Amelio, then made a public deal with Bill Gates where Microsoft bought $150 million of (non-voting) Apple stock and promised to start releasing Office for Mac again.
This guy probably has hundreds of pictures of Tim Cook on his computer
it was actually the board who raised the price of the lisa and of the macintosh, jobs never wanted it to become so high.
I think Tim deserved more recognition and story time in this video.
Tim is there to keep Jobs’ philosophy intact
I don't think he really made a difference
@@lawsonhellu4718 and I think you are wrong.
@@Ka_T_ya Sure he made more amazing products but he was handled an already growing company and he followed the path i mean why would i be wrong
@@lawsonhellu4718 because you are in fact wrong. Before Tim, Apple was a trash life style hype company. Apple now makes actual good price for quality products.
Business Insider op 👌
everybody gangsta until all your comments are about company man
Apple did the smart thing in the new Jobs era. If other companies won't provide the quality software, Apple will. From Avid to Final Cut Pro as an example.
Brilliant
Gil Amelio’s only mistake was believing that Apple was a sinking ship, and that his job was to point it in the right direction.
1:21 how did you not catch this mistake?
Good report but it ended a little abruptly....
Personally, I think one of Apple's biggest mistakes was promoting the Macintosh over the Apple IIGS as well as crippling the Apple IIGS so it wouldn't eat into the Macintosh sales.
Company man Greg.
Reading the title I thought this was a Company Man video.
Apple in the 90's: Uhh we can't afford that no thank you
Apple in 2020: Yea we can afford anything
Am I hearing him say that the Apple II was released in 1997? Am I missing something or do I not have a clue about Apple history?
Cool
Apple ❤️❤️❤️
You twice said 1997 instead of 1977 in beginning.
Nothing wrong here, but there’s a ton of additional fun stuff that went on behind the scenes.
referral madness
Read the book “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson to flesh out the details.
These events were just the bones of what happened.
(This is from a corporate Windows Trainer of 30 years who went all Mac personally about 10 years ago.)
6:29 Sounds familiar to me...
Sponsor Skip Button: 6:00
Thanks!
No offense, but there was something called the apple 2gs, which was a more capable and cheaper graphical os computer which was also compatible with the apple 2 software, so it probably ate into the sales of the og Macintosh.
not sure if i´m the only one hearing / noticing this (home, speakers) - but i find the AC noise (humming in the background) quite distracting annoying. maybe try different mic? other than that, always like your videos, quite insightful things ...
The Performa and 1st PowerMac series almost made me switch to Windows they were that awful. NUBUS was terrible.
The video of the decade the one I was waiting for
Haha definitely not the video of the decade my dude
I thought that Apple was gonna create a PowerPod
I was quick this time
Well, I guess that apple stuck with the pricetag?
you keep saying 1997 instead of 1977
Thought this was Company Man lol
1:08 " 1 year later in 1997 "? Ain't that 20 years 🙄
1:06 1:24 Is it 1977?
26K was expensive ? They surely didn’t expect what is coming now
I thought it’s Ashton Kutcher 😅 the resemblance is uncanny
Uhhhhh......
WHERE IS THE MUSIC?!?!?!
Ok
1:06 1977*
Apple: rise, fall, rise again.
In fact many companies follow 2/3 of the path of Apple: rise, fall, and nothing left.
1:09 did you mean to say 1977?
Apple in a nutshell: 5:05
Companyman be like: 👁👄👁
l think Jean-Louis Gasse deserves some of the credit/blame for over-pricing the Macintosh line. That decision gave Apple huge profits for a few years, but ultimately cost them market share.
Apple is richer than Italy. OMG
a like for apple
1:05 1997
Hm.
Cool you’re first
Based on this video, Gil Amelio saved Apple by buying Next and Steve Jobs :) We should all remember that.
32nd View!!!🔥🔥🔥
Why didn't he mention Microsoft's 150 million investment into Apple back in 97?
Hello all!
6:51- I see what you did there, "next" decade
@Yuk Kiu WONG *NeXT
@Yuk Kiu WONG No problem!
10,000 $ and only 10,000 sold?
See how apple needed steve jobs in 1997?
Apple's success is as much Tim Cook's as Steve Jobs. While Jobs conceptualized great products, Cook marketed and sold them.
Lisa, Lisa 2 and Macintosh were as revolutionary as iPod but, Apple had duds to market them due to which they failed.
He made a blunder at 1:24 to 1:28. How come such silly error
Multiple times in this video, you say 1997, instead of 1979. Please correct them.
I would argue it never fell. Maybe a plateau but not a fall.
What are all these “Company Man” comments about?
Company Man is a UA-camr who has a series called “The Rise and Fall... and Rise Again”.
@@mattjw16 Thank you. I will go and check them out. (:
@ricky v No problem! He’s really good. If you like this channel, I think you’ll like him.
Trust me I can watch all apple documentaries all over again only cause of Steve jobs
Why is it when you’re talking about the 1970s you say 199…
