Hi Peter happy new year ya , love the channel ,i have the same code same engine k9k in nissan j10 also got another code P2413, but my egr is electronic no water hose, took it off wasnt to bad dirt wise ,but it wasnt flush slightly open 5mm, just wondering how you bench test or would this be the home postion cheers 👍
Hi Clive, unfortunately if it is not seating fully it is most likely faulty & sticking open. As a general rule if you look at the electrical connection on the EGR valve you should see 3 pins close to each other & 2 pins separated. The 2 pins separated are generally for the electric motor that opens it. Do you have any experience on car repair or equipment, like a multimeter??
I have a standard obd2 reader but no multimeter experience, don't suppose you do nixers 🤣 do you think a new part would do the trick and will it self learn or need setting, cheers for replying 👍
@@cliveg9390 I would honestly say a new EGR valve would be the fastest and easiest fix. In my case I didn’t do any basic settings or relearns. So I don’t think you’d need to do it, just plug & play
I took my Renault 1.5 dci EGR out. Its the same one as in this video ( liquid cooled ) and I cleaned it up. It takes alot of pressure to open by hand and has to be pushed back in by hand too. Its not putting out any fault codes but, could this be a faulty unit? I see a slight drop in acceleration. I cleaned it up well and did a Renault Clip tool based EGR Adaptive, its improved it since but I still have a feeling its not performing as it should. Does the Valve return to closed position itself or it doesn't matter since the motor would close it on and off in run time?
Funny Larry the way the desired position actually mimics what is happening once the fault is noticed. All makes sense but could catch a chap out. Happy new year 🎉🎉🍻🍻
Good Pals a main dealer renfault mechanic over thurles way Peter - we'd great old chats about the blocked ickle pipe up to the sensor that these all suffer.. We both hit on the "Use a cable to drill out the pipe-crap" solution about the same time everyone else did. Great minds/fools.. We also had great old chats about them EGRs. Blanked ta fock was both our "Verdicts". Egr is a load of old fumes.
I have had some hardship with cables, windscreen wire & just about anything else imaginable trying to clear steel pipes on exhaust systems 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️ I found lately if you can get some head at the pipe and compressed air, that hard carbon melts and shoots out in a few lumps. I must make a video on it, sometimes the simplest things are well watched. Hopefully you’re enjoying a few beers over the Christmas mate, badly deserved 👍👍👍
@@thefastelephant94 this vehicle didn’t have any acceleration lag but that would be a symptom of a slightly sticking open egr valve. Exhaust gas have little or no oxygen causing incomplete combustion and power related issues
@@kennedysgarage3281 I have a peculiar issue and its really keeping me worried as the Renault Techs say its fine but I've shown them how the car runs great like new when the MAF is disconnected. I replaced with a Renault Genuine MAF as per my Chassis Number by Renault at their authorized workshop. Its still not fixed the acceleration lag issue. EGR is sqeaky cleaned a month back. The Valve, Intercooler, Runners etc. Any way to diagnose a sticky EGR? What are the parameters in live data that can help me here. @@thefastelephant94 correct, disconnecting the airflow sensor disables the egr system. In voltage terms you should have around (.5v to 1v) ignition on (around 2v) at idle. It should drop again snapped throttle, all tests when engine is hot 😉😉
