Always thought that the Trident kinda looked like a modern luxury yacht, hastily converted into something like the old WW1 merchant auxiliary cruisers for the Dominion War. The diplomacy route works just as well though. Great work as always!
The Federation worlds and plublic love to run hot-cold on defense, don't they? They dispair that Star Fleet doesn't keep the Fedeation prepared for armed military conflict but have a tantrum whenever Star Fleet tried to keep itself prepared with tactically powerfully starships.
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics You're...about to go "space engine" the 32nd century version of the Trident, aren't you. BTW, while we're on the subject of ideas, I watched your starfleet battleship videos recently. There are a couple others that I think would make good additions. The Proxima from star trek Legacy and the Yamato from starfleet command 1 and 2 / Klingon academy. After looking at the Atlas and Federation classes, I can see how those ships i mentioned could come to be. Since dual warp cores would be necessary considering the technology of the era, it would only make sense for massive dual Engineering hulls.
While I am glad for the disclaimer up front? Something I feel many fans seem to just not quite internalize? Star Trek is a multiverse. So yea. Your own verse as it were. No less valid than any o the others. I like it!
The ability to store matter in a transporter buffer would save a starship from needing to have any storage space of any kind. All a person would need is a way to summon a particular item using their combadge, and the transporter does the rest. And for people, there would be no need for physical space for refugees or even for your crew. And if you wanted to conserve on life support. When a person's going to go to sleep, put them in the transporter.
It looks like the Norway Nova and Oberth classes joined together and took some steroids to bulk up but damn that's a cool looking ship. I would put in for a transfer off of a California class asap.
Another fantastic, awesomely cool, neat, beautiful, powerful Starfleet design!! I really enjoy visiting this warm, fun channel, & greatly appreciate all the hard work you guys do to bring us the designs, histories, & relevant information & data on all these awesome ships!! You’re a highly talented, intelligent, informative, & wonderful narrator!!
I like nacelles that are NOT stuck up there in a V configuration, just because that’s how the Enterprise had hers. Just like big fins on 50s cars. Tacky…The designer didn’t know anything about the concept of warp bubbles. He just thought it would look cool to “slap on 2 big “rockets” on her back.
As a sto player I never liked how the trident looked, it was dull, and the design felt like a weird oberth knockoff, and then you come in and actually make it look good, its honest to god impressive how you managed to take a fairly dull design and make it really good, like god dang
I thoroughly enjoyed the visuals and the information in this video. The way you laid that information out in a clear, concise manner is just fabulous. That said. The one thing I didn't like was the background music. In fact, I found it to be distracting. I'd like to watch this video again with no music in the background at all. I think that would be a far better presentation overall.
Thank you and That's odd, as I have recieved other comments loving the music! I guess that just proves the old Adage, You cant please everyone all the time ;) :P
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics since I've been a musician most of my life I found the melody (or lack thereof) very repetitious. I kept waiting for the next line to change to something else just to mix it up a bit. Of course, that's only my opinion. Other people may have a different opinion and that's just fine. We all see and perceive and hear things differently. That's part of what makes us all human. The musics pattern kind of reminded me a little bit of a episode from TNG. Early in the episode , Wesley I believe is in 10 forward and there is an alien crew member in there playing a repetitious pattern on some bells. Later on, if I recall correctly, Wesley uses that same repetitious pattern as a way to signal someone on the Enterprise. I can't recall the name of that episode right now though off the top of my head.
Interesting design, but not as aesthetically pleasing as some of the other Federation vessels in my opinion. I look back at the Khitomer class joint Federation/Klingon project, and would have liked to see what another joint project could have come up with.
97% of people rematerializing sounds amazingly good in a worst case scenario potential loss of all hands... that being said I still remember from the Star Trek: The Motion Picture the scene of the transporter accident so I can imagine the 3% who didn't make it may have had a pretty gruesome end
Quick question since you guys are on that macabre subject. Curiosity kills cats so I'll have 8 lives after asking this but was that 97% out of the 300 officers and crew or the full capacity 800? Did 9 or 24 suffer that gruesome end?
If there’s one complaint I have about the Trident, it’s one that extends to a lot of Cryptic’s older designs: the beam array emplacements are just *off*. Like, in this case, the arrays are practically non-existent, with the two forward ones that can be seen being ridiculously small. Should just join them into one singular array and be done with it. And the torpedo launchers are…where, again?
Huh going diplo route the trident was supposed to be a replacement for the Oberth if I remember the original background for it but hay bringing an underated ship some love not going to complain and the default trident looks good with the new materials just released for the class.
With as much tactical abilities the Trident class had, this should be made into a all out warship. Keep the Galaxy-class as a diplomatic and scientific ship, and let the Trident class be sent out to give the Federation's enemies something to worry about. But this is my opinion.
My first thought upon hearing the passenger load for this class is the position the captain would be in dealing with such high ranking personal onboard. During a crisis what would keep an admiral from trying assume command ala Commodore Deckard?
That's an excellent question! Though i would assume that an Admiral can only take command in specific circumstances, see TNG Too Short a Season and Pegasus!
@@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics You would hope so, but it has remained undefined in terms of any canon, probably to give writers latitude regarding potential plots. There are arguments regarding an Admiral assuming command in certain situations like Star Trek II and the examples mentioned, but we have also seen more than one Admiral with inflated egos.
Hrm, I love the story, but I hate the design, it just looks really wonky, if you asked me, ....also not very 'starfleet' looking or elegant. You'd think appearance would count for that kind of mission profile, really. It may be practical but some elegance would go a long way making impressions on any world with news media. And I appreciate your 'all the canon that fits' kind of system, it's how I like to be as a fan of various worlds. :)

The music hasn't changed, i have always and will continue to use UA-cams royalty free music library for my videos... Sorry you dont like this particular song, but I cant please everyone all the time, and if you dont like the song, that's just down to your opinion, thus a "you" thing!
Not really, no more then a Galaxy, Odyssey or Sovereign Class would be! And you're forgetting that the Federation's reputation proceeds it... A Rep for peace and cooperation and hopefully protection... And thus seeing a ship like this which stands for all of those is encouraging, rather then threatening!

I love these non-traditional Starfleet design ships. I can definitely see it being a diplomatic ship given how luxurious it looks.

You should do the Emissary-Class Star Cruiser.
Not many people like it, but it looks good in my opinion.
Love the ship. Big trek fan and long time ship lover. Keep them coming and I subscribed
I like this ship. It looks close to what a sleek 'colony class' ship would look like. Especially if it was larger, like Space Dock large.
