The era had the best aesthetics. Elegant yet powerful. No flourishes or over emphasis on curves like the future but also moving past the simple and hazardous designs of the past.
It occurs to me as well that this is a very design-oriented channel which dovetails nicely as I create art in the background. I exclusively watch only this and Certifiably Ingame as far as UA-cam goes and with regards to Star Trek lore, both alpha and beta cannon. Cheers to both Tri and Certify on such depth of material!
This does make me hope we one day get a series set between the end of the TOS movies and the start of TNG. There's so much potential just sitting there.
Very well done good Sir! This is my first comment on any of your videos, but I figure it was time for me to say thank you for all the good information. Keep up the good work, and I will keep watching.
First time I’ve seen this vessel and I like it. You can tell it’s from the Excelsior era but it’s not a simple kitbash. It has some really unique nacelles and a massive torpedo bay. My only gripe is that the torpedo pod should have a thicker connection to the saucer. The Shenzhou class looks like a stunner, too.
You have the best stories on your channel. You sir are an excellent story teller with tons of references to use to create better and more awesome stories by using your own imagination. Have you ever considered writing a book or e-book based on this channel?
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Even though you barely have time to make these videos, you still put out absolutely phenomenal content. Thank you. Live long and prosper. 🖖
I miss the color elements on starships from the DSC era. A muted red band with the extra large registry on either side of the saucer was an awesome look. The California class bright it back in spirit to distinguish the particular ship's specialty (command, schence & engineering - red, yellow & blue). Its a design element of love to see more of.
Personally, the Georgiou Class is one of my personal favorites. I think it’s the perfect blend between the TMP and Disco Era’s, and is a worthy successor to the Walker Class.
Too bad Starfleet didn't keep this class as a fleet of heavily armed fast attack cruisers. There's something to be said for Peace through strength. Especially if you are a Federation of Planets and you want to assure new member worlds that you can protect them if needed.
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Maybe, but they are both childrens of the Excelsior mother-class. I guess, like the Galaxy was for the Nebula, the Excelsior is a great system to be adopted to other classes ships, like a modular system.
I often imagine that the decade between TMP and TWOK was filled with Connies being very fast and powerful with their vertical cores, but many getting decapitated and/or blowing up with their very obvious weakness, prompting Starfleet to start design on a much bulkier design that later would become the Excelsior we come to know.
Though a great idea, beta canon with support from actual canon, suggests the reason for the radical change in Starfleet Design was all due to the Transwarp Experiment. As the hull of the Connie was incapable of handling the subspace stress of Transwarp!
Not sure what this has to do with this video, but.... We actually see them all the time in Trek, they're just not main or secondary characters usually...
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios nothing to do with the video. It's just something I've noticed and always wondered about. It would be an interesting topic don't you think.
I love all of Star Trek ships except for one The excelsior class it is without a doubt the ugliest foulest looking starship and all of science fiction genre yuck! Keep up the great Videos😉
federation fleet command is it's own worst enemy. look at the Georgio, Walker, Miranda, etc. 200-250 people crew. runs fast, has guns, has "large cargo bays" and transporters. how often have you talked about the federation not having enough of "xxx ship" to do the job. Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Vulcan and Andoria all make ships. ok those are the capital ships, got it. but there are hundreds of worlds in the federation by the time of tmp. if you have 1/3 of them with ship yards making these medium sized ships, and you keep giving them first rate shields and guns, and use them as Q-ships a lot of the fleet problems go away one way or another
Cool ship. I always liked the excelsior class. Would like to see a tv show done around one in that era
I love the excelsior series color scheme for ships
You and me both :)
The era had the best aesthetics. Elegant yet powerful. No flourishes or over emphasis on curves like the future but also moving past the simple and hazardous designs of the past.
You retexture the models yourself? You absolute genius!
I think this is the best attempt at an Excellsior based Reliant type vessel. Well done!

A real beauty the georgiou Class is a great addition to the Excelsior family love her
Amen!

I kinda liked that too. I'd even go so far as to add 2 more colors to separate tactical/security and science, green and magenta.

Hope this pops up in the Section 31/lost era project

Yeah that's why I was always baffled
Simple TOS era TMP era and excelsior era then ambassador era then the galxcy then sovren that era cought my attention
Cool ship. Just different enough from the centaur!
Actually, very different ;)
Do you have any more canis major stories coming out?
Yes, Patience ;)
thank you very much for this nice infromtionen video. like the Georgiou Class
You are welcome! :)
But..but...the Klingons killed Georgiou. That and she *should* have fired first!😂😉
Very close to the Centaur Class, one of my favorite^^
That's what I thought at first too... BUT after dealing with it for so long, it's clear that the 2 designs are actually quite different!

In more suitable words it's more like a tactical light cruiser.
Not according to the information on it!
I'd love to see a Pike class
a small fleet of defensive of interceptor craft like the Defiant class like a corvette...
I'd like to imagine the Georgiou is what they were trying to replicate when they slapped together old parts for the Centaur class many years later.
The Centaur Class started it's life at the same time as the Georgiou Class... It just didnt go so well until it's refit for the Dominion War!
I had a thought about Scotty Sabotaging the Excelsior, maybe he knew the Transwarp drive wouldn't work
I doubt it... If he knew that, he wouldnt have to sabotage it at all!
It's the Defiant before the Defiant.
looks like updated to walker class
I didn't know you had a UA-cam account Bagera :D
In STO it's basically a direct premium upgrade from the Walker and uses the same 'bones' and is kitbashable with the walker parts.
Does anyone notice as far as I'm aware O'Brien is the only NCO in Star Trek?

Some of the characters in the resurgence game are Petty Officers
318

Saucer cutouts in the front, are an abomination to fundamental design aesthetics.
100% Disagree!
She began as the predicessior for the "Defient class" but timing caused starfleet to convert her in the first version of the callifornia class
