The psychological toll of these small drones strikes must be crippling to morale. There are tons of videos of soliders getting hit without a clue of what happened or any advance warning. Good video!

One of the paragraphs I had written for the video had to do with exactly that, but I decided to leave it out in the end -- but the essential story there is as you say. The impact on morale is severe. There will come a point when there isn't enough vodka in all the world to keep them in the fight. When Russian soldiers hear the whine of tiny electric engines, fear takes over -- even from the sound of their own drones.

As they say "It's not the Smartest, nor the Strongest that Wins, but who can Adapt", and Ukraine is adapting extremely well.
You have to understand, Russians fighters are just soldiers, as the Ukrainians fighters are coming from all walk of life. Roofers, Engineers, aviators etc. They have all those minds on the front line.

I saw the potential military capability of drones back when the Chinese hosted the Olympics. Their ariel drone displays were mind boggling...

Yes, they really surprised a lot of people. It is hard to imagine that we are only PERHAPS 2% into the drone revolution, if even that.

This interaction of large, expensive, centrally managed technology with small, cheap, locally controlled technology is roughly parallel to what happened in Information Technology with the introduction of the Personal Computer.
When I served in the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) we had a motto, "Apto Aut Morior" which roughly translates to "Adapt or Die". We actually dealt with a rapid developing, sophisticated growth of a small drone capability from ISIS and other Islamic terrorist organizations that had a kill chain that approached what large modern militaries had.
What is remarkable is that the Russians which faced this same type of threat in Syria, has not adapted years later. I believe that the main problem with the Russians is corruption at every level which kills the ability to adapt and implement innovation effectively. The important question is "will the militaries of the western powers adapt or die?"

T.VH.: Sir, have you read 'Never Mind, We'll Do It Ourselves'? It is a remarkable history of the dedicated effort expended to transform a remote helicopter recon system into a weapons system platform. All done 'ad hoc' by patriots risking their careers by working outside the acknowledged areas of authority.
BTW: let me suggest to all viewers here that no one should fail to view your YT segment of 'Who Won The Air War?' The title cannot do justice to what is yout production's central and shocking theme: The revelation of how the U.S. Interceptor pilots stationed with NATO st the height of the Cold War were all to be killed by personal assassination just prior to any launch of Eastern Bloc ground and air forces. I cannot think of anything I have learned in my 90 years that exceeded the diabolic cleverness of this plot and certainly no other devastating blow of military significance could have been achieved at such a infinitely small expense? Machiavellian evilness in it's ultimate dimension!
Thank you for your excellent presentations.

Lee -- thank you for your wonderful comments and compliments! I really appreciate that. I only wish that I could do this full time -- maybe within a year I will be able to do that if I can continue to grow my subscribers. I have over 70 stories on my current list of planned videos -- and some of those really deserve to be told. This is my way of honoring history. I will look for the "Never Mind, We'll Do It Ourselves" story -- sounds interesting! Thank you!

Yes drones have made half of Ukraine pitch black and the natives terrified

It is funny how Russia (and apologists/supporters for Russia) both denies targeting the civilian population and the electrical power grid (calling such acts "terrorist" in nature), but then enjoys talking about how they do it. In any case, it isn't drones that are being used to destroy Ukraine's electrical grids, but a combination of surface-to-surface missions and cruise missiles, including some air-launched ones.
Iranian-supplied HESA Shahed 136 drones are used mainly to target apartment buildings and other "soft" civilian targets, which has caused a number of countries to declare Russia a "terrorist regime" and has turned the vast majority of member states in the UN against Russia, as evidenced by multiple votes in the General Assembly -- only Russia's veto in the Security Council has kept it from being heavily sanctioned by the international community.
The people of Ukraine appear to be far from terrified -- in fact, the Government of Ukraine has had to issue a request that Ukrainian refugees delay their return to Ukraine until Spring so as to help reduce the electricity requirements through the winter. Mainly, Russia's attacks on civilians has hardened Ukrainian resolve, unified the country in the war against Russian occupation, and boosted morale of front line soldiers who believe strongly that they are fighting (and winning) a war of survival against a much larger, evil terrorist state run by a madman in Moscow.
That's a bit more of a complete picture of the reality on the ground in Ukraine right now than your very brief comment, but I thought it deserved some discussion.

@@HistoricWings I agree. Ukrainians seem to be proud to die for America. 10 million refugees and flattened cities. The thing is that Biden and Zelenskyyy will fight to the last Ukrainian. Because they aren't one
Targeting power stations is much more humane than carpet bombing or nuking cities or napalming peasants which Americans did.
