      I would not recommend learning all 3 at once! All polyglots say this, and I'm not one but an ex-educator- get to like a B2 level in 1 language then start others then can keep mulitple, but all at different levels. Otherwise you will get them confused....and they are all hard....you probably won't listen but...

    WELL DONE! Keep up the good work in inspiring us language learners. You mentioned that you want to learn Arabic, a tip. DON'T BOTHER, IT'S TOO HARD!!!
    Only kidding.
    I have been studying Arabic for four years now. It is only now that I am getting to grips with this fascinating language and culture. My suggestion is, don't learn Modern Standard Arabic, choose to learn a dialect instead. When you become fluent in that dialect, then learning MSA is a natural progression. I started learning Arabic with MSA and I felt like I was getting nowhere ... Now I am studying Dajia, which is Moroccan Arabic (it is a creole language made up of French, Spanish, Arabic and Berber languages). The point is, Arabic is ALIVE; MSA is the official language that most Arabic speakers understand but they do not use it in conversation.
    Salaam 3aleikum!

      @sademahogany  Рік тому +1

    Before I say anything, I want to say that people have different learning styles and it's always good to have an open mind; Listen to the way that other people learn and see if there is anything that interests you and maybe apply it to your own learning.
    While I think that there are advantages to studying multiple languages at a time, I also believe that you can absolutely spread yourself out too thin, risking burnout. Even if you have ALOT of time, I would say that three languages would be the absolute upper limit. With that said, it also seems like you Japanese and Spanish are somewhere in the ballpark of B1/B2 and so having A schedule like this makes sense from that standpoint.
    For the easier language (Spanish) you are setting aside less time, but are still getting a good amount of exposure. Afternoons you are doing Korean. (is it a new language?) Anyway I think it's well balanced.
    My personal preference is to split my language study into semesters, that is having a max of two target languages at any given time, and study just the two in chucks of 3 to 6 months. The reason for this is that to achieve a high level of understanding, (and therefore a potential for fluency in the right environment, you MUST have lots of time for language immersion, SRS review, and language course time/ conversation practice with a tutor.
    The other thing I do differently is to learn my target langauges EVERYDAY. That means having a habit stack for each language and then executing this DAILY. Frecuency of exposure is the way to go.
    Alexander Arguelles is an expert on the subject of studying multiple languages everyday and he was saying that to really "master" a language requires 1 hour of study everyday for the first two years, 2 hours the next two years, and four hours of study everyday for the final two years. These figures he recommends for "easy" languages; Languages like Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Arabic? Forget it. The people who really learn these languages to fluency learn either through full time/immersion over a period of several years or through many more years of consistent study for a few hours every day.
    Anyway, these are just some thoughts. Than kyou so much for your comtribution to our learning communuty!

      thanks for the advice! i’ve been learning languages for 10+ years and i’ve been able to figure out what works for me; i also know the things i’m missing in my learning journey now that i’m no longer taking classes and self-studying, and i hope to implement them in the future. i’m aware that language immersion is the way to go & it’s one of my goals to spend time living in the countries of each language i study :) hopefully one day, i can look into getting a tutor for each language i want to learn, but that’s not in the cards for me right now - this is just what works for me at this current moment in time. i hope anyone reading your comment or watching my video doesn’t take anything for law and experiments with what methods work for them! after all, everyone learns differently, has different resources, different goals, and experiences different things, so anyone reading this, please do what’s best for you with what you have and continue on your journey despite any obstacles or setbacks you may face 😊

    • @sademahogany

I feel like my view is biased bc I started with Japanese & some of the grammar points are similar to Korean, so it’s kind of like having a head start
