My BEAUTIFUL DAD……..FRED FITZGERALD was a Race Car Driver himself back in the late 50’s and 60’s and NEVER Missed a RACE on TV he lived to watch and went to many of them….When he retired in 2001 he built the first Ford Car himself and would Drive it in Parades and just loved it and won trophies…. We still have his Car but I NO Longer have HIM and Miss him so much and Always on Sundays when the Race comes on I know He is still watching but with a much better Seat 💺……
12:30 - BRM and it's classic 16 cylinder engine. And only 1.5 litre capacity if I remember right. The pistons were so small, they were like sowing thimbles - tiny! Silly high RPMs for the time. It was like a Swiss watch.
Classic vid. In the days when it was seriously dangerous! That accident in Le Mans, 1956 was it? Horrendous - so many spectator deaths mainly there. A pure nightmare.
The earliest history of Formula 1! When tires were skinny, drivers were fat, and they were more like a club event than the scripted pageants we have now. Do you also have Parts 1 to 5 of the series?
If you guys could upload the entierity of these Shell Documentaries ( 1902-1951 ) it would be appreciated, as only lower quality versions are available here.
Very much known in the history books of F1 racing...Juan Manuel Fangio of Argentina was "the best". Obviously, with his racing record, he would have done some thirty something wins in his career had not several of the events he was in had mechanical problems. That would have been a record, unbeatable, till the great Senna past it, I think. Those racing machines were a beauty to watch and listen to!
These clips are some of your greatest treasures. Thank you
I saw many of these films made by the oil and tyre companies in the early years, pure nostalgia.

Thanks! No seat belts, no mirrors, no problem!
A fantastic find from what is today a barely known era.

None of these drivers were worried about not having rollbars.
I'm guessing... A lot of these drivers fought in a world war..less than 5 ago....thy could care less
@@jasonjackson1100 "devil my care" attitude, took hold.

Unfortunately we've been (so far) unable to locate prints of the missing episodes. We continue to look...
