A funny story about that kick. Everyone was waiting for the Christmas parade to start. My wife was in charge. Kept delaying the start because of the game. When that kick went through the sound of silence was broken all around the Minden Courthouse square with a huge cheer.... then the parade could start 😀
My son (8 years at the time) and I were at this game and we were in that end zone, about the 12th row just a couple seats west of the left upright and it's something he and I will never forget. The next month, one of his presents that he opened was an autographed picture of O'Leary, Wesch and Henery celebrating (we know one of the parents of those three). He'll probably have it on his bedroom wall til he dies. LOL! What a memory!!!
i was there and i can tell you that last minute and a half was the loudest ive ever heard it...so awesome i'll remember it for the rest of my life when he made that
I was with a friend at this game. For whatever reason, he says, “let’s go down by the sidelines” just before this. Was witness to this at field level. All that noise coming down, it was so loud! Then Suh picked and ran over Cody Hawkins. Unreal. One of my favorite Husker memories.
Now there's a player you'll be seeing on Sundays and Monday nights. Man, I was so jacked seeing this I was like "Oh man can they hold out!" excited to see the rest. Then I looked down and remembered it was just a clip ^_^
I just got done with a kicking camp and I won the competition at the end by kicking a 56 yard field goal and a 68 yard 3.8 sec kickoff he then game me a signed football and we got a picture
I'm an eagles fan/Nebraska fan. Have been for 5 years. And I gotta say I was shocked to see that my most favorite kicker Alex Henery got drafted to the eagles. I never seen that coming..
My 9 year old son and I were in the 7th row in that end zone and can tell you this: you know how in those videos of an atomic explosion when there is a really fast wave when the bomb goes off? That's what it looked like with the fans in that end zone. It just RIPPED from the front row to the back in about half a second. Also this: for a Christmas present we got a framed picture of O'Leary's (snapper), Welsh's (holder) and Henery's (kicker) autographs of them celebrating (we know one of the parents of those boys) and it's magnificent and is a fun conversation piece.
I was in my walk-in closet folding clothes TOTALLY convinced the game was over and I heard the radio call and the scream "It's GOOOOOD!" and I went screaming down the stairs. Scared my cat half to death!
I just watched corey rumble through the endzone and talk about wearing Miami out, The big red taking Florida to school, and the Miracle in Missouri. This fits those memories. We are back. OR as Bo would say- nebraska is back and were here to stay. It is true. Same character and heart. thats what we are made of.
If you claim to be a Nebraska fan and seeing that ball go through the uprights doesn't give you chills....you are either a liar....or your are dead. One of the best moments in Nebraska football history...and it only makes it sweeter that it carved Hawkins heart out! YES! GO BIG RED!!!!!!!
jesus christ i started hugging random people at memorial stadium after that kick and the stadium was rocking and then the suh pick, i was adrenaline high for hours after that the entire ride back to omaha- henery & kunalic should go as a package in the 3rd round of the draft!
I was the opposite trying to convince everyone around me he had the distance...haha I pay attention to him since I've met Alex a couple of times he's a real nice kid!
At :34, I have an autographed portrait by all 3 players. My wife works with the dad of one of the players. He got the 3 boys to sign it, we framed it and gave it to our son for Christmas. He and I were in that end zone and it's a game and a moment we'll never forget! You shoulda seen his face when he opened the present and saw it!
I remember watching this while on the phone with my dad, and my cable delay was about a second or two less than his and when I screamed, "It's good!" my dad said, "huh what? oh shit! it's good!"
Welcome to the nest Alex. I think Akers might be re-signed for at least a couple more years if available nominally. Eagles certainly never overpay. If DA is back for couple more years, Alex can learn behind one of the masters in the game and then eventually take over. Either which way, we got the top kicker on the board! Much respect and love for DA and for all those fantastic years!
How playa is that, man?!?! Sitting 3 rows above where the Huskers run out. Couldn't believe they were going to try for the field goal. Last time the stadium got that loud was when Brandon Jackson had that long run to put Nebraska ahead of Texas. This game ended much better though.
And LOVED to see this happen and then LOVED seeing the Big Man SUH get a tip and rumble down for a TD. And what was Funny is CO's QB tried to tackle Suh and was lucky Suh took it easy on him as he stiff armed him. He was lucky to be able to walk off the field the way he got put down. lol
I was in the stadium and the place went nuts when it was called good. I think it was louder when Suh got the pick six but when this happened it was a glorious sight. Husker football has turned a corner
I was in that end zone. You could hear everyone start lowly saying, "yeeeeeeeeeeeAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" before it crossed cuz it was looking VERY possible!
Well, I'm personally a Lile Bremser fan, but that's just because he called all of the old great plays. However, I will agree that Sharpe is pretty awesome.
Akers was great over the years. But the Green Bay game was definitely a bitter pill to swallow. Clearly this guy was taken to replace him. Thanks for the memories DA
I worked at piece of shit "Champions Run Country Club" in Omaha. Alex worked at the pools during summers. I made him sign my husker hat when I first meet him and happened to be wearing that same hat at this game when he drilled that fucker. Amazing, he is a humble dude. His sister who was a server brought him into the kitchen and said I wanted him autograph. He asked why bc he hadn't done anything and Bo had just been hired. I said "dude, you're a cornhusker and you will bail us out eventually". good fuckin dude.
A couple vocal fans behind me in my section of the stadium were upset with Bo.when he sent Henery onto the field. One said, "You gotta be kidding me...there is no way!" The other one agreed adding, "Hell, at least we'd have a shot with a Hail Mary....a FG try from this distance is ridiculous!"
Other than Eric Crouch's TD catch in the 2001 NU/OU game, I have never heard the crowd react the way that they did after Henery's kick. Suh putting Cody Hawkins on his ear during the next series was a good way to end the game.
People who are hoping Akers leaves are not real Eagles fans. You obviously don't remember the 12+ GREAT years he played for us, and only remember that one kick in the playoffs.
@JeRseybOy251 I know bro.. But at the end of the Eagles Vs. Packers game he said it was might be his last game as a Eagle. I respect Akers, He won us allot of games but if the Eagles pick the top kicker in the draft this early in the 4th round, You can tell they probably dont want Akers anymore.
Yes. This kick forced Colorado to throw, then Suh got a pick six, which made the game out of reach for Colorado. I remember this game. We were all jumping and screaming.
One of the all-time great Memorial Stadium moments. All of Husker Nation will remember this kick for the rest of their lives.
I watch this video weekly. One of my favorite Husker memories.
Do you still watch it?🤨
@@matthewbomer8215 I just watched it about a week ago. I don't watch it weekly anymore.
@@brentb7799 oh😒🤣
I get chills every single time. Whenever I'm having a bad day, I come watch this and always feel a little bit better. Alex Henery is the man.
Best kicker in Husker history
Kris Brown?
DoseofJikook 88 one of the best. We have had several
@@scruffydog52 I shouldve said the best since ive been a husker fan
DoseofJikook 88 I still have his photo hanging on the wall!
A funny story about that kick. Everyone was waiting for the Christmas parade to start. My wife was in charge. Kept delaying the start because of the game. When that kick went through the sound of silence was broken all around the Minden Courthouse square with a huge cheer.... then the parade could start 😀
I love how you hear Matt say "Get There" that is priceless
And right after this, Suh tips a pass and stiff arms Cody Hawkins into the dirt as he strolls in for a defensive TD.
My son (8 years at the time) and I were at this game and we were in that end zone, about the 12th row just a couple seats west of the left upright and it's something he and I will never forget. I'm watching the video two months later and I still feel a rush of adrenaline listening and watching this. This ROCKED!! Wish I were there in person.
Was there. Can confirm, was freezing..but when he made that kick...place went crazy!
i was there and i can tell you that last minute and a half was the loudest ive ever heard it...so awesome i'll remember it for the rest of my life when he made that
i was listening to the game here in arkansas and absolutely went nuts when i heard this on the radio. freakin' amazing. go huskers!
I was with a friend at this game. For whatever reason, he says, “let’s go down by the sidelines” just before this. Was witness to this at field level. All that noise coming down, it was so loud! Then Suh picked and ran over Cody Hawkins. Unreal. One of my favorite Husker memories.
I was there above the student section, the reverberation of cheers was amazing.
Now there's a player you'll be seeing on Sundays and Monday nights. Man, I was so jacked seeing this I was like "Oh man can they hold out!" excited to see the rest. Then I looked down and remembered it was just a clip ^_^
I've been involved with Husker games since the 70s and that was THE LOUDEST I've ever heard the stadium.
We were at this game, I've never heard that stadium so loud.
I just got done with a kicking camp and I won the competition at the end by kicking a 56 yard field goal and a 68 yard 3.8 sec kickoff he then game me a signed football and we got a picture
I watch this 6 times every day.
i was watching this in my room, and i was so tense and when i saw it was good i went absolutely crazy! this year was so good...
i was in that stadium for that game and now watching it just gives me goose bumps!!
I was there at that game :) we all flipped out, it was so awesome!
Longtime NU fan here, but I'm an incoming freshman at Boulder this fall.
i was at that game.. so god damn sweet!!! best game ive ever been to!
Alex Henery was the BEST kicker we've ever had, and I doubt we will see comparable talent in the future.
Kris Brown says hello.
I was there and that was AWESOME! You could feels the stadium rumble
When I saw this at home we were watching it on outside, you could hear our neighboorhood go CRAZY!

KABOOM!!!!!!!!!!! man is he a beast alex henry is freakin awesome
Alex Henry is THE greatest college football kicker to have ever played the game.
I cant bash Akers because he has been with the Birds for like ever. Thanks for the run Dave! Welcome to the nest Alex!
I was at that game in that endzone...what a memory!!!
This might be the most memorable moment in Friday Night Nebraska football history.
I was in my walk-in closet folding clothes TOTALLY convinced the game was over and I heard the radio call and the scream "It's GOOOOOD!" and I went screaming down the stairs. Scared my cat half to death!
I was at that game unforgettable.
I'm a Mizzou, my family is a Nebraska fan, I remember watching this game, have to say, that was FUCKING AWESOME
gives me chills... 3 months later...
1:40 lol the face on that queef to the left

Such a great moment! A talented string bean
Alex Henery: Greatest Kicker in Nebraska history!
I remember watching this on tv with my buddies, one of my friends almost injured another by tackling him after that kick.
Great Kick Henery...Go Huskers!!!

This was an amazing win for the Huskers.
I was there too. Remember every second of it.

I have to say I like the shot of the Colorado coaches clapping. :D

I miss this kid. He'll be the best kicker in the NFL in a year or two.
why would you lie to me like that?????
I wrecked my living room when this happened. And then suh with the pick six had me almost in a frenzy.
Still can't believe he made it. Unbelievable.
@kyleh93710 It was the loudest but were you at Memorial Stadium to hear the crowd at the OKlahoma game last season, it was friggin ridiculous
Hes going NFL, no doubt about it.
I laugh every time I hear Davidson in the background say "GET THERE!"
How playa is that, man?!?!

great way yo finish the season
Well, I'm personally a Lile Bremser fan, but that's just because he called all of the old great plays. However, I will agree that Sharpe is pretty awesome.
wow if we only had this guy a year early we would have made it out of the first round darn!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that's one hell of a birthday then
0:26 "GET THERE!"
Someone should put up Henery's field goal in this year's Big 12 Champ game
Akers was great over the years. But the Green Bay game was definitely a bitter pill to swallow. Clearly this guy was taken to replace him. Thanks for the memories DA
i was there the fans were fucking loud
then suh made that int. that was cool
BEST FANS IN COLLAGE FOOTBALL
can't wait for alex to go to the proz!
Nowadays a Nebraska field goal kicker can barely kick a 20 yard field goal. We need kickers like that Alex Henrey again
@mgimbel77 I thought he was transition tagged. Or is that the same thing?
I worked at piece of shit "Champions Run Country Club" in Omaha. Alex worked at the pools during summers. I made him sign my husker hat when I first meet him and happened to be wearing that same hat at this game when he drilled that fucker. Amazing, he is a humble dude. @TheUFOeffect 67 yards. in 1977 by Texas' Russell Erxleben
@brunohusker This was my second. A moment I will never forget.
You mean the 93 Orange Bowl?
They're gonna have to re-name the Lou Groza Award the Alex Henery Award.
@marktwinkler GGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDD

Though I shouldn't be surprised our Eagles fanbase bashes this guy, he doesn't deserve it. He has a leg.
never heard of this kid before but DAMN - this kid has a leg
welcome to the eagles !!!
@KushSmokingDemocrat wo man, david surved us well over the years. respect that man
@JeRseybOy251 I know bro..

I imagine Alex Henery can walk into any restaurant in Lincoln and eat for free for the rest of his life.....well done!!!
