8th grade on Khan Academy: 8th grade is all about tackling the meat of algebra and getting exposure to some of the foundational concepts in geometry. If you get this stuff (and you should because you're incredibly persistent), the rest of your life will be easy. Okay, maybe not your whole life, but at least your mathematical life. It is to challenge your mind. It supposed to test if you can think outside the box. If the teachers just show everything to you. You are not gonna develope critical thinking.
@@johnlawrence9495 but if i don't learn how to do a certain part of an equation i've never seen before, i can't solve it. shouldn't teachers be showing you how to do every type of equation so that you can memorize how to do it? that still takes work and practice on the student's part, but at least you're learning it. you can't expect kids to do well on something they weren't taught.

some schools require a teacher to teach a certain way. Most time it is not up to the teacher to teach the way that is best for the student or classroom. I have friends in our local district that complain about this a lot. They must follow the rules or else find a new job.

My teacher put this on our folder to watch so we can enhance our understanding but this is not on our book. Its supposed to be x + or - y = blank. Then to find the x and y-intercept let y=0 when you want to find x-intercept and let x=0 to get the y-intercept says on the book.

assume some value for x, and find the respective value for y. suppose x=1. put it in ur eq and find y. similarly put x=2 and find y.......now draw the line by joining the co-ordinates

The y intercept is 0. So y = 3/4x + 0 .. you know you're going to have a point on the graph that intersects (0,0).
