    8th grade on Khan Academy: 8th grade is all about tackling the meat of algebra and getting exposure to some of the foundational concepts in geometry. If you get this stuff (and you should because you're incredibly persistent), the rest of your life will be easy. Okay, maybe not your whole life, but at least your mathematical life. Seriously, if you really get the equations and functions stuff we cover here, most of high school will feel intuitive, even relaxing. (Content was selected for this grade level based on a typical curriculum in the United States.)
    About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

    What if the numbers in my equation are only variables? Ex: X - Y = 9

    • @bluenight317
      @bluenight317 4 роки тому

      you can make it to x-y=9 to x-y=9
      -x -x
      -y=9-x

    • @nouraalhomsi7837
      @nouraalhomsi7837 4 роки тому +2

      i think you have to substitute one of the values with zero to find the value of the other.
      For example if we use the equation you've put on here x-y=9, we would substitute the variable x with the number zero just to find out what the variable y is. Then we would end up with this 0-y=9, which is basically -y=9. This equation means that 9 is equal to -y. Now we have to isolate the variable y. To do so, we would divide both sides by -1 (basically the same thing as just -). The final answer would be y=-9.
      I hope this was helpful :D

    So glad to find a video with a proper graph. In most, they're hand-drawn which at best is harder to see for the student and at worst can lead to an incorrect answer, as it did for one UA-cam professor.
