I drove a 430i a few years ago in California while on vacation. It was my first time in a BMW and I had an absolute blast. Yes, it’s no “M car” but this inline 4 cylinder turbo is a fantastic “base” engine. The car perfectly encapsulates what I like to call “normal people fast.” Meaning that 0-60 in 5.5 seconds (I’ve even seen it quoted at 5.3 seconds from Car and Driver) will feel extremely quick for the vast majority of drivers who have only ever driven cars/SUV’s that do 0-60 in 7,8 or even 9(!) seconds. Those who’ve never experienced a proper, rear drive, 2 door coupe with enough power to embarrass some muscle cars from 10-15 years ago, will get behind the wheel of this car and have a blast, just like I did. As for the upkeep costs and general reliability,, I’ll defer to those who’ve actually owned BMW’s, but the driving part I feel I can “vouch” for ;)

Great review Joe ! But my days of owning a German car especially a BMW are long over.. Learned the hard way after owning a 2013 X5 for 8 months and sinking nearly $2,500 into it .. bought it with 96k miles what appeared to be in great physical shape from a high end used car dealership... My mistake was not having a mechanic look it over... Leaking rear Diff, replaced torsion bars and control arms in front end, Passenger door lock frozen... all work done at Brooklyn BMW service under an extended warranty I purchased separately when i bought it.. My point here is too share my experiences with a high mileage, 5-6 year old BMW. No bueno... Great review, thanks. I will get the new 4 series when it’s released in October 2020 here in Europe. For us Europeans around 250 hp is plenty enough. I live right next to Germany so if I feel like it I can always drive it on the autobahn up to 155 mph (250 kph) which is the electronic limited top speed. I never keep my cars more than 100K miles. Had 4 BMWs so far: never a single problem or a single glitch. For those who imagine than German cars are money pits or expensive to maintain, I can assure you it Is a very biased judgment. Everything has to do with how you respect your car, how you take care of it and what you do with it. Want a cheap car with which you can drive 300K miles: just get a Toyota pick up truck. You will be more than happy. Spare parts are cheaper too.
This is honestly exactly what I’ve been waiting for Joe! I’ve been back and forth on the 4 series but it was great to have an in-depth look at it. I’m in south Florida, but I may have to trek up there to check this one out. Thanks again!

Got 2021 430i today for $650/month 15,000 miles lease with bunch of extras. Who wants to buy a used old BMW to deal with all the problems when it is so much cheaper just to lease a brand new car from Germany with free maintenance and full warranty? Add lease protection and can drop it with worn tires and broken windshield. BMW depreciates like nothing else, 50% in 3 years. Why to lock yourself in owning one? Bring it back 3 years later and get another one from factory.
Does Allen know that the M is that the 430 has an "M" package, which is why this 430 has the front facia lip, the rocker sil and the steering wheel M with the padels, and of cause the M wheels and the suspension M package...Allen it's an M package car, not that its not an M car
Just traded my fully loaded 2020 M340i with 850 miles on the odometer. Took a beating $62k-> 46k. These cars really depreciate! Upgraded to 2020 M4 CS which I’m sure will depreciate too. But this ones a keeper!

Love the channel and respect your reviews. However not sure where you are going with older model years,. More so, why are you reviewing used cars if you don’t also spend some time hitting likely maintenance areas or trouble spots. That’s what is really on used car buyers’ minds, besides a fair price.
BMW CPO cars are a good deal to an extent. My 2019 430i gran coupe was only 7 months used as an "executive demo" with 9k miles and cost me 65% of the new sticker. Just saying, for the price of a new Camry or Acord, you get BMW fun. I think the value prop curve declines sharply after several years because BMW do suddenly breakdown without much warning, and you may be calling for a tow, i hope it's a sunny day and the tow arrives soon, but i speak from experience that s**t will happen. This is my 3rd BMW, but I try to anticipate normal stuff and cross fingers for the unexpected. If you want an appliance, go get a Camry.
Kool Kitties Wrong. I’m 23 have owned like 6 different bmws and currently own an F30 335i. Never ever had issues with ANY of them. Just replacing Rear tires, oil changes and brakes. @@NewDesignVinylGraphics 6 different BMW's? sounds like you sold them off before having any serious issues. I also find the MPG are under rated on the sticker. I get MUCH better MPG.
Holy cow! For $58K, I rather get the BMW Supra. That’s got an in-line 6 turbo.
lmao! "bmw supra"
Troy Truong 😴 It’s tiresome already...
blueberrycobbler gotta admit that no 4 banger is worth over 40k
@@lukecoble57 the new 4cyl turbo engine is not yet tried and true. Not sure if it can reach 200k+ miles without the turbos go out.
You can scoop these up used with under 20k miles for under 30 grand.
Hey Raiti, can you please talk about the checklist before buying a used or certified car. We as consumer have a better understanding and confident.
I will get that together for you!
Just bought this yesterday
I actually want one. But I want the convertible with awd. Think about top-down motoring on a warm March day when there’s snow on the ground.
That would be wonderful!
Buy a motorcycle. Save tens of thousands of dollars.
I’m a huge BMW fan...my number one favorite car
What is going on with your mic?
This is honestly exactly what I’ve been waiting for Joe! I’ve been back and forth on the 4 series but it was great to have an in-depth look at it. I’m in south Florida, but I may have to trek up there to check this one out. Thanks again!
That is so awesome to hear Ryan! Give Alan a call. They are really great people at Ferman BMW.
Due to the lack of hours I'm going to have to let go by 17 Accord Sport with 29000 miles on it special edition going to miss it :-( but you hang in there Joe you'll get that gt350r I know you will
:(
Yeah man I went to the dealership yesterday they actually snapped a lug nut off thorn in my oil change anyways I got to bring it back on Monday for that and see how much they'll give it for me I still have a 2018 Murano with 20,000 on it Platinum
@@garynapoli3042 Nice
Please do the 440i that would be a great video for comparison
I will get that together for you!
You’re a legend💯👑
Thanks for saying that! It really means a lot!
Joe the wind sound is absolutely terrible in this video. Do you not review them before posting? Can you do anything about that
Hey Ken- I am sorry about that. I totally missed it when editing. It is not wind noise. It's interference and can be cleared out. Once again I apologize!
Lol tough crowd!
I would wait for the new 4 series considering the g20 340i makes 380hp
I totally agree with you!
can you add a discussion of interior lighting in your reviews? Just curious how well lit the interiors are when that interior light is on... thanks!
I will try to add that in. Just difficult to really see during that day time.
@@RaitisRides understood. no problem. love your reviews!
I ZONK you for putting your logo covering the tachometer but then losing it for a while 🤣🤣🤣!!
Sorry brother! LOL
Im thinking about grabbing one with xdrive but I’m torn between ‘15 & ‘18. Or a ‘12 650i hardtop😂
love your reviews man 💪🏻 watch your videos everyday brother
Hi Carols! I really appreciate that so much! We can't do it without you!
Love the video concept! Would like to see more reviews on CPO cars you’d recommend!
Great video, but hat wind noise on the mic, tho
Can you do a review on CL 550 4 matic MB 2011 n up 🤔🤔🤔
I will try to track one down for you!
Hey man, used m3, new golf r, or Tacoma trd pro?? Thanks
I am going Golf R.
Holy Jesus man -- you are all over the map LOL.
Man, I am debating getting either a cert. pre-owned 2018 430i Gran Coupe ( need 4 doors for the kids) or a 2021 Kia K5 GT. Ugh, decisions. A little help here. Lol
Get the 430i or even a 440i if you want more power.
By the way, I enjoy Scotty Kilmer reviews, and yes, luxury/premium German cars are more expensive to maintain than Kia, Honda, Toyota, VW, Nissan...
In my opinion, I would lease a brand new one to just get it out of my system that way I won't have to worry about repairs in the long run.
I totally agree with you! Smart move!
Papa doug have some serious competition! Keep it up 😉👍
Thanks my friend! That really means a lot!
Can you do a review on the bmw 330i?
Is my Name good?
BMW's are ticking time bombs
Not really just dont buy v8 engines no makes an inline 6 better than bmw ask Toyota if you dont believe me
@@truevhazo4001 only the v6 3 or 4 series last. No 4cyl turbo.
@@truevhazo4001 it's not the engine that I'm talking about. It's all the components that surround the engine.
Not really. The older N/A engines are much more unreliable than the modern twin turbo engines.
@@brian4407 yeah well, when you rail on the thing like mad because you wanna be the big shot in the beemer, making all your friends jealous, any car is gonna go to shit. If you don't do that, then it's called routine maintenance.
Yes sir, I Love my 440i. It's a great drivers car.
I am so glad to hear Patrick! Thanks for letting me share it with you!
Just traded my fully loaded 2020 M340i with 850 miles on the odometer. Took a beating $62k-> 46k. These cars really depreciate! Upgraded to 2020 M4 CS which I’m sure will depreciate too. But this ones a keeper!
Dang!!!! Thats crazy
Woah. Sweet upgrade though man congrats
Sounds like you have money to burn. Good for you.
Cg3 Not at all! I figured since I lost over 900k in my investments, I would pull the plug and buy the car I have been saving for. The good news is the market is rebounding well! So losses are much less for the time being! I hope your doing well and be safe out there!💪🏻
Can you send me the link to the lip
It gets up to speed good it's got great Engine noise 👌
Not everyone needs an *M*. Badge Car
Sad Toast too bad with bmw these days your getting a bunch of cheesy m badging wether you like it or not!
@@unklecorky2181 yeeeaaaah I don't like that either kinda of a ricer thing... I agree with you there ... But yo compare this to the BMWs of the early 2000s the style has aged and changed nicely you can easily identify a BMW quick just at a passing glance
do you have 1 series in usa for sell you are the best car test draiver in all usa bye bye from italy
Keep it up joe 👏🏻
AAA 27 thanks man!
Raiti's Rides im form Albania and i see every video you post .. hard work pays off 👍🏻
Love the channel and respect your reviews. However not sure where you are going with older model years,. More so, why are you reviewing used cars if you don’t also spend some time hitting likely maintenance areas or trouble spots. That’s what is really on used car buyers’ minds, besides a fair price.
What year is it?
Gonna cop one of these I’m not even 22 yet 😂
That is awesome Dylan!
BMW stands for bring my wallet lol
Kool Kitties Wrong. I’m 23 have owned like 6 different bmws and currently own an F30 335i. Never ever had issues with ANY of them. Just replacing Rear tires, oil changes and brakes. Worst thing was the plugs on my 328i which I did myself in like 2 hours... more like bring your brain and educate yourself how to work on the car you own.
Sounds like you haven’t owned it for a few years yet
Likun Jian I’ve owned the same bmw for 5 years now , and not a single problem 😂
Likun Jian No, but I have for over a year now . My friend has an N55 e92 with over 250,000km and it still runs mint!!
@@NewDesignVinylGraphics 6 different BMW's? sounds like you sold them off before having any serious issues. Even actual BMW owners know (not 3 series) but M variant owners know it's not a cake walk to enjoy that much power with plastic engine components. They are not designed to be owned for more than a few years problem free. BMW's are lease cars. I wouldn't bother used. Especially if the previous owner tracked them.
This or the new audi A5 coupe??
New A5 all day.
2018 with 8200 miles for $29k or a 2018 with 30,000 miles for $26k? Please help they’re waiting lol
Can you add CarPlay?
Nope
What’s the 0-60 Speed ?
That is the million dollar question.

I would just wait for the new G22 4 series. I believe it's gonna be much improved over this f series.
Seems like a promo video rather than a useful review, you mentioned nothing of the maintenance costs.
Is it quick

It's peppy but not a M car for sure.
