Brilliant job getting this Rion going again, these and many of the new current scooters, weped and alike and complex things..... Brilliant job. I'll bring my Weped FS to you if I ever have an issue.
When changing tires on the Rion, does the front wheel have an axle that pulls out or do you have to undo the motor wire somewhere? And on the rear wheel how do you undo the motor wire to take the rear wheel off
Hello, These new motor aren't really made to work in single drive. They have low torque and controler will go in overheat protection mode real fast if not paired with a second motor/controler. Depending on your friend riding style you may want to wait to install the second one before giving the scooter back. But then maybe BMS will have to be replaced aswell for a bigger one ? 🤷♂️
@@tuctuc6367 Thanks.. I started the project with the scooter all in bits and as a complete unknown - no connectors on motor, messed up controller wiring and lack of info available. Got it going ok but some of the experiences correlate to what you wrote. Surprised by the lack of torque (going uphill) on that beefy looking motor. Great on the flat though!
@@joc1862 Good job reviving it. It's a speedy motor rather than torque so its potential is really showing up in dual drive. However, I just checked your battery specs. It's 6P of 35E cells so you could need an upgrade to higher discharge cells to actually run a dual drive setup. It's pretty rare to see an opened up Rion like that anyway. Usually the brand put lot of effort to not show internal components and arrangement to the public(not cool enough)
@@tuctuc6367 You're right. Friend found that scooter cuts out very quickly on full throttle. Either the Kelly controller can't handle the amps draw, or the BMS, or both (obviously to protect the lower discharge 35E batteries). Don't know the continuous or max amp rating of the items. As a matter of interest, my ebike power pack uses the LG HG2 high discharge cells.

Just to much money 💰 for flats but segway has tires that doesn't get flats 😑 And what is going to happen when you hit a pot hole rion scooter's no front shocks no water rated 🤔 no lock or GPS system for that much buy a car don't care if it's sucks you will be dry in the rain tf?
Hey Jo C. Thank you for taking the time to share with us this run-through of your repair to an early production model Rion. Thumbs up from the UK.

hehe... thanks
Kelly controllers in a Rion , I was told these used to run on Vesc before now using the Tronic controller
Can't wait to get my RION so I can sell it. Been waiting 3 years next month. Don't even want to potentially deal with sending it back for repair.

No front wheel motor on my Rion, just rear wheel. Motor wire comes off with wheel. Wire must be disconnected from controller inside body of scooter.
Hey Joc amazing job, I hope you are very well men A hug from Spain Málaga Marbella Pd Suscrited
Gracias....

You seem to know your stuff.. Thanks for the info.
@@joc1862 I'm using those parts so just sharing my experience 👍

are you in the LA area?
Hy.Kelly controller model?
Scooter long gone now - think the controller was KBS72051X..
Aren't their parts that they use exclusive??
I've been told they don't disclose their componentry.... hmmmm.
@@joc1862 Yeah, that's what I thought. Good luck though with using other parts for their scooters.
Hi what model Rion is this
One of the earlier Rions that came with dual geared hub motors..
Correction... SINGLE geared hub motor.
Hey, what’s this model?
Apex model, single planetary gear motor. Kelly 7212 controler.
Drag tested in Tunnel des Tuileries - Paris, turned out to be slower than DT3.

@@tuctuc6367 ah je me disais bien que c’était l’Apex 1 👍🏼 vos histoires de courses ça reste entre vous 🤣
