Hey! The heat from the sun will cause seperation. By covering the midsoles, it prevents that from happening. I leave the insides open so they can dry from the inside out. I find this to be the most optimal way to dry a shoe.
@attilabolla4456 Normal wear is fine, but because I leave these in the sun to dry for several hours, the glued regions will likely seperate from the heat unless I cover them.

It will stain suede and nubuck. Try to avoid it on paint and midsoles
