one more tip I would add, is during dead time stand against a wall and blow bubbles. popping bubbles is worth points so might as well collect points while waiting for level transitions.
Those enemies tgat shoot what you were calling ping pong paddles, i thought they are bottles,if I remember right don't they have x's on them? @@VideoGames101 Edit: oh yeah I see you noticed at 1:00:05 lol
Good lord, this game. My younger sister was absolutely obsessed with this title as a kid. That said, the ending sequence said the adventure wasn't over yet. This game had a "Round 2" mode you could play through with a password --- quite a fair bit tougher than the usual 100 floors, and you also get an extended ending sequence by clearing it. Though, Grumple Gromit.... I'm fairly certain most people know him as "Super Drunk", though the name change might've been due to NES guidelines.
Ha yeah that's true on his name. And yeah good reminder on Round 2, but yeah it's a grind after finishing it the first time, at least change the music up!
Professor, you were almost right about getting EXTEND. Whenever you pop multiple enemies at once, a number of letters will spawn equal to the number of enemies popped, -2. Letters will only spawn if there is a hole in the level. Letters you don't collect will spawn again on a later level, so if a duplicate letter spawns, don't collect it and it might appear as a different letter on a later level. Also, when playing 2-player, each player can collect their own set of letters. As for the power items: candy spawns are based on the number of bubbles blown and popped. Shoes spawn based on how many times you bounce on a bubble. Certain items spawn based on the number of water, fire, and lightning bubbles popped. I can't remember the rest. There's a lot. I just remember those general rules.
I played this game in the arcade as a kid. A small store with 3 arcade cabinets opened right next to my house, I thought this was going to be a stupid girl game. This wound up being my favorite game by far. What a classic!
Love this game, and hate that it's not on the Switch's NES collection. Wait a minute, you've taught a class on Bubble Bobble before. I remember commenting on it.
You did an excellent job, Prof! That is no small feat to go as long as you did without losing any or even many lives. Also, mom and I always referred to the final boss as the witch.
Always fun watching Bubble Bobble! Hearing the music always takes me back to the OCR Remix channel days. There was a great remix on there by DJArcas that managed to weave all the music in the game (except the ending) into one fun and frantic piece. Great stuff.
I love this game played it at the arcade then my Mom bought it for me for the NES. One of my favorite games. So many good Memories. Thanks for the walkthrough and memory lane :)
I downloaded this on the switch because I remember getting to the last guy probably 25 years go. It turned out to be some arcade version that has issues. If you drop into a shallow pit, you can’t bounce out because your bubbles pop immediately
just loved this game growing up, so few quick things... 1 there not ping pong paddles... the character is called the drunkard and he is actually throwing beer bottles at you, and the white whale is known as baron von blubba in the American instruction manual... one of the few instances that the Nintendo of America didnt censor a game cause if they found out then that beer was in a game o boy that would of been interesting on how they would make em change it... if memory serves the final boss is known as the big drunkard in the arcade game but that could be hearsay from long ago, in not sure if the game boy version ever got changed with the beer fact or not as i never owned that title way back when tho
Your guess is as good as mine on some of the references, including the FA10, RJ. It's "BR10" in the arcade version, so yeah I have no idea why the change (nor does Fluff). I'd assume inside jokes for and references to the staff, but not sure.
I LOVED this game as a child. It took months to learn how to get to the end - how to get the GOOD ending. Of course, it was my friends game so I had limited access. 😂 Thank you for wonderful memories!!! Edit: IT IS NOT "GIANT BOMB." ITS THE "CHERRY BOMB" You obviously didnt read the manual. ~.~ Note: LEVEL 27 HEART OF POWER. I saw that and was instantly "get it, get it, yes!" I'll end with... If you've never played Bubble Bobble with a friend? You've never played Bubble Bobble. 😊
I haven't really played this since I was a kid. Maybe a couple times as a teenager. I remembered seeing the Japanese writing back then and not understanding what it was, since I've studied some Japanese in the intervening years I can actually read some of it. Like on round 69, it says a name, "よーすけ" (Yousuke). And at another point there's just a big kanji, 洋, which means "Ocean/Sea" or "Foreign", depending on context.
Oh, and then there's the little "pon" that all the bubbles make wheen they pop. That always baffled everyone I ever heard comment on it. After reading some manga, it's basically just their onomatopoeia for "pop". ポン or ぽん. Little things like that, over 30 years after the first time seeing it, always amuses me.
I MIGHT be misremembering, but i am ALMOST certain theres another ending. I vuagely remember an ending where the boss turns into the parents of the playable characers (or maybe the girls?) Edit:I looked it up, and there IS one more ending yet to get
Yeah if you play it through again with the BBAJI code for the super bubble mode there are a few slight changes, like the enemies which appear on certain stages and some color palette swaps.

Good point, General!
Oh wow, Bubble Bobble. The music from this game burns into your soul. 😄 I first saw it as an arcade game.
Yep, that's why I say I hope everyone likes that music at the start, as that's all you're going to get for the next hour!
No worries, I don't mind. Could be way worse, like if this was Kiwi Kraze 101.
Those enemies tgat shoot what you were calling ping pong paddles, i thought they are bottles,if I remember right don't they have x's on them? @@VideoGames101 Edit: oh yeah I see you noticed at 1:00:05 lol
Great run! My mom and I used to refer to the Whale of Death as the Fail Whale. Have a happy winter solstice!
Ha I like Fail Whale.

Excellent supplementary info, DL. Thank you for the added context.

Yep, I imagine this one ate up a lot of quarters; it's addictive!
Love this game, and hate that it's not on the Switch's NES collection.
Wait a minute, you've taught a class on Bubble Bobble before. I remember commenting on it.
me and my sister loved playing this game, we never beat it, but we still had fun.
Yep, on the shortlist for the absolute best true couch co-op games on the NES.
You did an excellent job, Prof! That is no small feat to go as long as you did without losing any or even many lives.
Also, mom and I always referred to the final boss as the witch.
Yeah this one is extremely difficult to get through without any casualties, too much random luck! Heh yeah and they certainly have a witchy look.
Always fun watching Bubble Bobble! Hearing the music always takes me back to the OCR Remix channel days. There was a great remix on there by DJArcas that managed to weave all the music in the game (except the ending) into one fun and frantic piece. Great stuff.
Nice, and yep somehow after hearing this for an hour it still doesn't get old!
I love this game played it at the arcade then my Mom bought it for me for the NES. One of my favorite games. So many good Memories. Thanks for the walkthrough and memory lane :)
Thank you PG. Yep this one never gets old for me to pick up and play despite its relative longer length amongst the NES library.
OMG Bubble Bobble! I love this game but never beat it! so cool to see it here
Yep, with the good ending no less!
Oh man bubble bobble. This game reminds me a lot of Castle Quest, I think because I played them around the same time? Great playing here, professor.
Thank you! And Castle Quest is on the todo list incidentally.
We had this!
Yep this was one of the first games we owned for the NES. Great one to have as part of the collection for friends and siblings.
Oh man. Haven't played this since i was a kid
Yep, and it still holds up!
Always a fun game. One of the few my brother and I could play and not fight over. Lol
Yep, it's one of the few true cooperative let's work toward a common goal games for the NES.
I downloaded this on the switch because I remember getting to the last guy probably 25 years go. It turned out to be some arcade version that has issues. If you drop into a shallow pit, you can’t bounce out because your bubbles pop immediately
Ah that's disappointing.

Ha yeah I admit at the end those are definitely bottles. Heh a hangover from the naive child version of me to still see the paddles.
What about a class of Karnov on NES/Famicom?
It's on the todo list, good reminder!
Props to Chack'n Pop for being the undeniable inspiration for this timeless classic 💙💎💙
I love music in many games but just hearing this games music brings a smile to my face.
in level 59 what does fa10 mean is it the color?
Your guess is as good as mine on some of the references, including the FA10, RJ. It's "BR10" in the arcade version, so yeah I have no idea why the change (nor does Fluff). I'd assume inside jokes for and references to the staff, but not sure.

I saw that and was instantly "get it, get it, yes!"
I'll end with... If you've never played Bubble Bobble with a friend? You've never played Bubble Bobble. 😊
Very much agree, TaT, one of the best co-op experiences on the NES by far.
@VideoGames101 Sorry. I ranted without looking you up. I adore this game, and you did a great job.
I haven't really played this since I was a kid. Maybe a couple times as a teenager. Good call, Jared. Yeah I just figured plenty of references which have some inside meaning to the devs.
Bubble Bobble....Bub and Bob.... oh, I get it.
Heh yep.
It's on and popping!!!. Sorry Professor, it won't happen again.
Ha all good!
I wasted so many quarters playing this in the arcade.
Ha I believe it. With so many levels this game was made to eat quarters.
Learned the hard way how to get happy ending.
It's a fun game but it REALLY could have used more than one short music loop.
Heh yeah that was a choice.
Do you stop after the first victory or do you go through the extended 100 levels of the second?
Yeah this is a single 113ish levels run, so the secret exit to get the best ending, but no not played through a second time.
@VideoGames101 it's like 10% harder
OMG I forgot about the game Plus 😮
This is one of the first, if not THE first, NES games we rented. I don't remember any of it, i think we used a code for level select?
Yep, the password system in this game was gratifyingly simple, just the few characters to input.
39 is usually the stage I die at.
Yep, there are a handful of unforgiving stages where you kind of have to burn at least one life.
Upload the 100% guide and walkthrough for Barbie and the Three Musketeers (Nintendo Wii), Professor Brigands.
But what about the second quest playthrough?
Coming up early next month!
I MIGHT be misremembering, but i am ALMOST certain theres another ending. I vuagely remember an ending where the boss turns into the parents of the playable characers (or maybe the girls?)
Edit:I looked it up, and there IS one more ending yet to get
Yeah if you play it through again with the BBAJI code for the super bubble mode there are a few slight changes, like the enemies which appear on certain stages and some color palette swaps.
Shut up and take my like!!
Thank you LL!
GEJJJ is the passcode for level 99
no brain to even say which system in the title?
NO BRAIN! Thumbnail's got you covered, though.
