Finally somebody did it tutorial strictly for beat makers every video I seen before this was making it seem like you had to put a whole album out just to upload your Beats💪🏿🎯💯💯✔ good job CJ
Curious, say you made a beat and an artist recorded over it and releases it on spotify, could you also take the instrumental and post that on spotify as well? or will you run into issues?
@@kaydencrooks2790 so recently when metro boomin released his album, there was a track with gunna ("all the money", I believe) where he had lyrics and the beat but he also posted the beat/instrumental by itself and I saw it on spoitify as well. So I'm assuming you can have both
I would! I just recently uploaded my beat through beatstars distribution platform bro. and yeah only time I would take a beat down is when someone buy the buy completely exclusively. Hope this helped!
Ok I’m new to all this but I do have some few questions. First question before I do that distrokid I must first copy right my beat? Also I really don’t have a name production either. Nor a logo lol. Now I have beats that I would like to put out there for everyone to hear no rapping over it because the beat I made wasn’t to sing over it but I want people to play and hear it. So I really do not know where to start so I need help thank you.
So for beatmakers we should use hip-hop/rap as a genre? And what if you already have a youtube already , how does that work ? I'll appreciate your response thanks .
Hi cj, it’s very good to see you again and I need your little help to know about the midi keyboard for Logic Pro x I mean which midi keyboard 🎹 should I buy ? Plz just help me to know about it and I’ll be so damn thankful for your time & appreciate your suggestion !
hey bro, question. if i upload to distrokid my music(instrumentals) as a artist/producer... but, then someone wants to use that same instrumental to release a song with lyrics, is there any conflict? would i need to take down the release i did (instrumental) or is it treated as a seperate entity. same as how you might find a song and it's instrumental on spotify, youtube etc..
Hey how you dojng bro this is good news I never put my beats on stream but online is been slow w pandemic but question. Should I upload single instead of album. I think that be better or not
I hope you're still active on this platform because I've got a burning question. Say you fancy a beat on youtube, you write a whole song to it but its got a producer tag. Now I dont mind the tag but I was wondering if I upload the track do I have to buy royalties?? Can't I just split the profit with the producer? Can't I make some stream money and get the rights for the beat after? Where do I go to find all this legality information?
Registering your beats with ASCAP/BMI is really not the norm. Registering whole Songs is. In regards to using samples. It depends on a few things, #1 where did you get the samples from? Are they from a sample website like freakquincy.com? If yes, then you need to look at the requirements they have for the loops. On freakquincy.com loops are royalty-free for indie releases. That means if you create a DistroKid account and are uploading beats or songs using the loops you don't owe freakquincy.com anything. If a Major Label like Atlantic Records, Warner etc uses freakquincy.com loops, then a publishing/royalties split is required. #2 if you are just sampling from other songs, then you'd need to clear samples prior to uploading the beats/songs. That's usually done by a record label. hope that info helps.
@@CJBeatzProductions That's actually a good idea! my first two I did tagged but I am gonna do untagged from now on since like you said its a paid service! Nice!
Can we upload a beattape or sampled single beats that we chopped and pitch ?without clearing samples, without taking owners and publishers licence? or we can only upload beats that made from royalty free samples?
It is possible for people to find ways to do this, but what i also do is register beats from my team to SOCAN, Songtrust, SoundExchange the same day the music is uploaded to streaming sites. That way if you catch a beat slipping or some beat starts to blow up that you know is yours and is stolen, well you have your evidence of when the beat was first made public to go after them.
It depends on the license that comes with your purchase of the loops. Loops from freakquincy.com are royalty-free for indie releases. That means if you create a DistroKid account and are uploading beats or songs using the loops you dont owe freakquincy.com anything. If a Major Label like Atlantic Records, Warner etc uses freakquincy.com loops, then a publishing/royalties split is required.
Bro start learn how play the piano and stop use loops once in a while u can use them, don't depend on them, if make ten beat probably like 2 or 3 could be loop the rest should shit that you create and played out ..
Guys... I've tried multiple times, but Distrokidd will not let me use "Beats" in my artist name or in my artwork. However, this is my primary artist name. I have been trying to upload for a while now but this is the main issue. Any known Solutions?
In most cases, you can attempt to submit it without the Instrumental but once it gets sent to all of the outlets, places like Apple and iTunes will reject it with errors that you need to fix and this is one of them. Trust me, I tried it some time ago. I hope this helps.
@@CJBeatzProductions Is that in the settings or something? And that will allow me to still upload my beats that i lease to people, and not claim the copywrite for said beat? So rappers who lease the beat can also upload to spotify for streaming revenu?
Hey cjbeatz remember Trash Azz Beatz, well thats me but I somehow got deleted by youtube and now im Homicidal Beatz and im hear to say that i have improved alot, i am very glad that i made you happy that night that u live streamed, be sure to check me out sometime
First time I'm hearing this, but not having content ID doesn't mean you cant collect streaming royalties. Content ID is like a fingerprint of your music, so lets say jo shmo re-uploads your beat, Content ID would recognize it and monitize it. But your upload can easily still be used on tiktok, instagram etc because its part of the larger network and people can use your music in their posts.
HA’ I’m here first!

Hi CJ. When you upload your beats... Do you submit them to content ID?
do you upload tagged or untagged beats to your Spotify streams?
I upload mines to em with tags. but you can do with or without!

Can I upload bets I made from Google apps?

Hello, CJ. Thank you for the info. i really need that.
do they offer youtube content ID?
Do you have to have a Spotify account?
Do you need a publishing company to do this? I haven’t registered anything to myself
Actually no, it can be done totally independently

Mean to say that does production quality matters as much as volume.
Let em know! 🏆
how much does distrokid pay per 1,000 streams? i am new to it and have not been able to find an answer to this yet.
Do you use beatstars
Sir my beat isn't that great but can i upload it on it. It has complete -14 lufs mastering.
Nice!
Did you upload the tagged version or untagged to distrokid?
I do them untagged actually. Its a paid service

I did song on a free for profit beat how do I upload it on destro kid
You mean you made a song with a “free for profit” beat you downloaded from UA-cam right?
What happens if you sell a beat that's listed on streaming platform? Does this cover UA-cam Content ID?
you gotta take it down from all stores or just whitelist the video that has been uploaded with your beat
Can we upload a beattape or sampled single beats that we chopped and pitch ?without clearing samples, without taking owners and publishers licence?
or we can only upload beats that made from royalty free samples?
Only do royalty free that way you can be safe.

CJ - What should I do if I’m using loops from Frequency or other platforms that provide loops.

What if I’m not apart of a record label ?
you'd be considered independent. Which is also fine, theres is no need to be part of a label to use distrokid.
tagged beats?

**SOMEONE ANSWER QUICK** Do I HAVE to put (Insturmental) beside the name of I don’t want to or is it a must if the song has no lyrics?
East Coast Benji just look at what another producer is doing and copy

I am currently thinking about making a beat making channel, could you make a video on starting out from nothing with beats online? Logic Gang!!
What if the beat you did was a sample from another song or movie?
Then you would need the sample cleared or licensed through the publisher.
ya but if you upload your beats to streaming platforms wont that make it so anybody else who tries to upload will get a copywrite strike.
only if you enable content ID.
