i know EXACTLY what you mean when you say "that's real" because it really doesn't feel like it until you actualize it, i love how you internalize stuff, i see a lot of myself in you.
This is a no brained, slam dunk, posterization video! I paid for the label status and got busy with other projects and this video moves DistroKid to my top 3-5 urgent items to plant seeds within before the end of the month! Thanks for being so thorough to include the royalty sharing as well. It is so seamless and should provide more opportunities for people to genuinely collaborate together versus talk alone! I hope you have an Amazon affilate account because I just revamped my book and the Kindle version went live Tuesday! I will look for you on Spotify in the meantime! Each month is going to be a bigger bonfire 🔥 keeping everyone warm and lit! No one has any excuses to let their fires to go out! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🏆🏆🏆🏆
I think it’s a good thing.. Producers can have their own sound (brand) and be creative as possible instead of making the same variations of type beats to fish for customers and hope and pray for a placement.
@@MGTheFuture Thank you I just was a bit confused if it is an instrumental Album that you have to mark it twice. If it is mixed I understand it but I noticed in you video you named it as instrumental thats why I asked or it is automatically as you told distrokid so it should be clear
Great video! Good Info! I have a question for you... What do you do in a scenario where you've created an instrumental "beat tape" and distributed/released it through DistroKid, then one of the tracks are discovered by an artist who would like to use the track for an original song to be released? Do you keep your instrumental in all of the digital stores as well as release the newly created song? How would you handle this situation?
Yeah Man, I be trying to tell kats that they got to be more independent. It's unfortunate that that's the case, because I miss the concept of people working together to form a group like back in the day: Heavy D & The Boys, Guy, New Edition, etc. These days it's about collaboration, not so much collective communication. I guess the internet is just too big now and we seem to be on different paths to the same goal: music. Thank you MG. Stay up!
Man tell me about it. I got some homies who were down to make music but soon as I fixed some studio time… Crickets. You've got to find people with a similar vision.
Just saw the Spotify announcement and was wondering if it was a good time to jump in. Been releasing my own music on Bandcamp exclusively for about 5 years but I was looking for a reason to try DistroKid. Thanks for the informative video, MG! Guess I'll have to check this out.
Thanks for the video MGTF! Im curious about posting beats on distrokid that you have available for lease/exclusive sale. Is this ok to do? Would I need to take down (from distrokid) a beat that I leased/ sold exclusively? Or is there a way I can still stream my original instrumental beat while the artists Ive sold/leased to do what they will with theirs? Hopefully this makes sense. Getting a straight answer has been a nightmare LOL!
You can do anything since you set the terms of your own material. But i wouldnt use Spotify as a beat store. You can put all your free beats up there or something. But i think of it as an artist...not a beat maker. I want people to stream a million times...not a few rappers buying a couple times.
@@MGTheFuture What you suggest is definitely what I had in mind. Ive got a beatstars page, but I just wanted some clarification on what happens if a beat I have up for streaming thats also for exclusive sale on my beatstars page gets sold. Thanks for your insight. It is greatly appreciated!
@@beatsbyj00lz Think of DistroKid/iTunes/etc as you putting your beats on display for the world to listen to. If someone buys an exclusive from your beat store (Beatstars), that's fine if it is still on DistroKid/iTunes/etc since people are just listening to your beats there, not buying them.
When will the tracks you produced for show up under the music you've uploaded. I have to 2 tracks on a projects that has just been released. Does it show up after the quarter and the money comes through?
You are always so insightful and helpful. 😑 🥋 I was always the proponent of sampling without clearance, until a significant audience has been reached. Tracklib looks like a cool option, but when you are just a newbie artist like myself, why go the route of paying for sample clearance?
I think it’s more so aimed at people working with rappers, and got some money behind promo. You don’t want those last minute hiccups. Also, when you get into high volume playlists, you don’t wanna be shit listed from them or dope UA-cam channels
YO NEED HELP AND ADVICE !!! we are a team of four producers , so we decided to start a label on distro(808mafia type ) . But ion kno ,whats better . should i make my own account and then link with the label one or should we buy the label upgrade and make all of our accounts from there ? because u kno today we friends but ion kno what happens tommorow and how that can escalate to our music . Also the main friend who already has a distro account and he about to do the upgrade so the other three of us can join, told us that he gon keep 10% from anything we do musicaly so we dont have to worry about uploads or anything , he 'll do the destribution in general for us . but how does that work am confused.?! Does that even sound right ?! I would apreciate any help !!!
Hey bro idk if you know that once you uploading a song thats in the genre of rap and hip hop then the option of youtube monetization will no longer be the option. 😳
Hey MG, could you please tell me if a team member's name will be shown on Spotify as an artist? I have a song which is composed by me and sang by another person and I want it to land on both our artist pages.
can i copyright my music or beat using distrokid.? im planning to put more beat tapes rather than uploading daily beats interested in putting on many streaming platforms as possible. but an instrumental itself is usefull for this type of stream for my beats. like for example why everyone using a beatstars that cost them 19.99$ per month. in distrokid the year plan was like from 20.$ a year. and a spotify artist account it has a reasonable amount for month. then why beatmakers wont use this kind streaming services as a form of beatmarketing platform and get a penny from their art??
MG The Future yeah its a direct opposite as you said seo and youtube in opposite streaming and fans.but how about someone that really wants his or her music wanna get copyrighted or wants to use content id for a beat tape or instrumental mix distrokid is a good option right. if the instrumental and beat tape was good he or she gonna get royalties rather than posting it on youtube and soundcloud without content id and protection😊😊
If an artist records a track and has it “mastered” then puts it on distrokid, what percentage of the royalties is the producer entitled to who leased the beat? I know there is a teams section in distrokid and it’s easy to split, but what should the percentages be?

Great video! Thanks for the info.
Valuable information. Thanks man! looking forward to more videos!
Do I have to name all beats as in parentheses (instrumental)?
or is it enought to do this in settings couse there is an option contains lyrics
It tells you during the upload process what’s acceptable

I don’t know. If they buying it for a major release, I’d remove it. If they don’t care, I’d keep it up.
It’s crazy cause I rap on my own beats using Distro, a beat tape wouldn’t be a bad idea

so its not worth samlping in 2k20? you have to clear and pay 50$ + for one sample..
Many helpful info to me. Thank you, bro!
I wonder would I still have to register a tracklib sample with a PRO as well as allowing royalty access through distrokid?

Can you elaborate on how to create an Instagram story for the track or album that you release?
Yo MG that was a great video, quick question. Do you upload your beats to Distrokid with the producer tag?
Do what you want.
Great info! Thank you. How does one own their own masters? Where do I go to document that on paper? And what about self publishing?
You own them, unless you sell them and sign paper work saying so

Do the team member have to sign up to disteokid to be able to collect?
It looks like if they don’t have it, they do, in order to access the console. However, it’s 10$ that way it seems
Thanks man. Going to use your affiliate link to sign up
Which one would you think it´s better to sell instrumentals for all kinds of music? Distro Kid or Airbit?
Airbit for selling, distrokid for casual fans and more streams angle
