Really imformative video👍🏻but I got a f30 with LIM button and not SET. So the LIM button works as you described however the cruise control never works I tried on 40 miles and 70 miles road. Am I doing it wrong or can you please advice how to set up the cruise control when you only have the LIM button next to it and NOT the SET button. ?
Thank you planet auto :D Yes it is very surprising. I remember back when all you got was a noise warning, and it was a lot more of a pain to change it.
Mine did have the lim button and cruise control. Fun fact was that the lim button didn’t work on mine. When i pressed it my cruise control would set it’s speed to the current speed i was driving. I had to get my f20 coded to get the lim function working like you’re saying.
@@mattsbeamer cruise control is very handy on the highway but the limiter is also very handy wen you have to brake and accelerate alot in more enclosed area's. So it really depends on where i am. If i'm in an aera where they give a lot of speedtickets i always turn on the limiter because it's easy to speed in the F20 whitout even noticing
TheRcGuy Expert very true, I think only my E38 and E32 7 series had cruise control, but I never really used it. Since I’m in Moscow now, the limiter is far more useful. There are cameras everywhere :)
Just bought a 2018 118d sport. I noticed the LIM button, but really didn’t know what it did. You know how reluctant you can be pressing buttons when you are unsure. Now I know, 🙏
NotTheRealSmith that’s a shame. I was reading that lim was standard on these cars, and my f20 is very basic with no idrive etc.. what does your car have, where my Lim button is? I’m very intrigued now
@@mattsbeamer mine is very basic too an F20 2012 116D, on my steering wheel its really empty no buttons or whatsover optional xD but its ok coz its really enjoyable everyday car :D
Where are you from? :) I know a Uk f20 has a lot more standard on it than my russian f20. Most of my past BMWs has lots of extras on them, but I am very glad sometimes that my f20’is basic. There is less to go wrong electronically, and sometimes If i don’t drive it for like 6 weeks and the battery is still great (which is amazing for this weather we have here) :)
I always did wondered what that button did. Thank you Matthew
Matilda Ivanova I’m glad you now know :D is there anything else?? :)

Thank you , I’ve just bought a 2016 sport and I didn’t know what that LIM light was lol
Thanks for the comment :) I actually prefer it to cruise control :) take care
Clever ;) 👍
linda pet thank you :) it is a very useful system
Ah, that makes sense, another very well explained video, it's amazing how many new cars have this now. It had never clicked LIM meant that.

mattsbeamer BMW really know how to evolve their cars, hence loving the i8 and why it’s on the list.
@@PlanetautoUK Very true! I would love to spend time with the i8

TheRcGuy Expert oh thats interesting :) which option do you like best, Lim Or cruise control?

@@mattsbeamer haha same here. I do some highway regulary at night and then cruise contro is very handy to have though😅
I wanna change my steering wheel, current one has 3 buttons for cruise controll and new one has the LIM would the function work ?
I believe all you need to do is code the button. :) I can't remember off the top of my head. Sorry
Another mystery solved by the genius of Mattsbeamer!!!

:D I like pushing random buttons in the car, I haven't pushed the ejector seat button yet thou :D I'm glad you found this video useful :D thank you :)
I saw a green LIM light come up and I thought my car was going into limp mode I crapped my pants
😂
Does your car have cruise control?
My car doesn’t but it’s supposedly easy to retro fit :)
Very clear info. Thanks.
Thank you marcel :)
Is there any Cruise control or only the limit function? I just bought a X1 2018 sDrive 18iA and cant find it
I think your car will only have limit. I believe that you can can change the buttons then get it coded, so you can enjoy cruise control :)
@@mattsbeamer thank you, i'm really surprised since most average cars have Cruise control.
First!
scheMe cheers!!! 🍻
Very very good explanation. Appreciated.
Glad it was helpful! :)
my F20 doesnt have LIM u.u
NotTheRealSmith does yours have cruise control? )
@@mattsbeamer nope I dont have neither cruise control nor those options in my steering wheel :( anyways good to know what the LIM does :D
